WOW! First Day Metal Detecting For Artillery And I Found FOUR!

- Join me as I explore a creek in search of American Civil War relics and especially artillery rounds or cannonballs from a battle site that I had researched and wanted to search with a metal detector. I found four on this first day looking for them this year. Included in my finds are two 3 inch Hotchkiss shells, one 2.9 inch and one 3.67 inch Parrott artillery shells. None of them had fuses and are perfectly safe to find and handle.

Its a brake rotor - a modern one
Relitively modern anyway.
the whole wheelhub with brakerotor since the wheelstuds are still on there, could probably be from the 90sich since its a vented rotor
Erik Simca they've been doing vented rotors since the 70's
obtucewillie thanks for telling me
Really depends on the term modern. Hub and rotor combos havent been used in about 20 years.
At 18:42, darn near drowned, you didn't tell me to hold my breath!!!
Yayyy !! An ol school civil war artillery river adventure from chiggs !!!
My favorite vids.
Outstanding adventure need more civil war relic hunts chiggs. Thanks for taking us along pal
So glad you are back in the water relic hunting! Love the longer videos too! Thank you for always sharing!
The round object with holes around the outside is a brake rotor from an automobile, alot of people use them for anchors since they're so heavy and easy to find!
I swear, "HOLD YOUR BREEAATH" never gets old! ROFL!! Love it!!
If you hold one of those shells to your ear, I'm told you can hear the Civil War.
Great hunt, congrats on the finds!
😂
YAAAAAY, glad to see/hear you back in the water...HOLD YOUR BREATH!
I’m watching this on the 1st January 2019, so it’s the first time this year for me seeing these shells, this year anyway lol Happy New Year, May you have many good finds this year.
Hey Beau! I love your videos, I'm confident I have seen 90% of them. I appreciate you sharing your adventures with us! Now, I do have an idea to throw by you, have you considered a camera on the bow of your kayak for when you tow it and dive? I think it would be a cool perspective to view your recovery of these relics, especially in situations where it may be a bit more difficult for you to film such as this one. Thanks mate.
glad you are adding videos and getting back to the river treasure.
Love how half the time when ya point the camera back, the boat is floating away, doin' it's own thing.
@10:20- brake rotor
AWESOME!!! Very well done. Thats so cool to look down and see those shells just laying there, waiting 150 years for somebody to recover and document. Thanks for the experience.
Love your videos! I get so excited. Catch myself smiling. Fantastic finds!!! Wow!!!

Great video and some awesome saves.
awesome dive chig. nice finds
You sir are one of my new favorite RUclipsrs. Not only do you post quality videos, but you also make your titles 100% accurate to what you post. Keep it up!
I read that Parrott shells and Hotchkiss shells were very dangerous to advancing infantry if friendly artillery was firing over your head... they shed pieces. The Schenkl shell was preferred for for firing over the heads of friendly infantry because the sabot was made of paper mache.
First ones of the year! Nice going!
