- Straight forward explanation and fix for your missing Realtek HD Audio Manager and mic problems for Windows 10.
Read the comments! If Your sound is not working... the script is below. Watch video and read along.
(*This solution is for desktops only and non-outdated motherboards and OS where manufacturer support services are still available. Only once have I known for it to work for a laptop. This solution will work and if it does not work, there may be other factors/variables affecting the system. If it does not work, try uninstalling the drivers completely and then install the motherboard drivers afterwards.)
I spent hours trying to solve this issue for myself and there were no good references to it online. I checked forums and tech sites. Once I figured it out, I realized there needs to be something on the internet to help people with this problem, cause it took me forever! So I made this video, I hope it helps you save hours of your time.
Script:
"Hello everyone, having problems with getting the Realtek HD Audio Manager to work on Windows 10, 64 bit, even after downloading the updated Windows 10 64 bit drivers from Realtek and installing? Is it still missing from your taskbar icons in the lower right? No way to access and no response from it, even if you go to the Realtek folder and click on the Realtek HD Audio Manager application file - RtkNGUI64? Can't figure out why it's not coming up?
If your sound card chip set is on your motherboard, and the Realtek HD Audio Manager is not working, then your motherboard actually does not support the version of Realtek audio drivers you have just downloaded and installed from the Realtek website.
You need to go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and get the custom Realtek drivers that they created just for your motherboard and sound chip set. These drivers will work. They'll solve your problem. These are the drivers you are looking for.
First you need to get your motherboard's name by going to Windows Menu, type CMD, which stands for Command promt, type "wmic baseboard get product" (baseboard is motherboard), now you have the name of the motherboard.
Copy and paste the name of the motherboard, go to google, paste or type it in, find the link for your brand's website...
Find the audio drivers on the website and download. If you only are running the sound chipset off your motherboard and that's it, you might be able to just install and be good to go. If you want to do more of a clean install, you can uninstall the drivers, and then reinstall the new ones you just downloaded.
This will work and you'll be back on your way to gaming and watching your media!
Now if you have mic problems and a third party sound card, like a creative labs with soundblaster software additionally installed above and beyond the realtek with 5.1 audio ports in the rear, and a headset and mic port in the front, connected to the third party sound card, and you also have the Sound card chip set on the mother board, which probably has an optical port, you will still need Realtek downloaded and working simultaneously with your third party sound card management control software as well. Many times if this is not done right.. The realtek hd audio manager will not work properly and the mic's wont work.
In my next video I will show the proper installation process to avoid any conflicts and have use of all your audio ports."
I have two sound cards, one on the motherboard and one in the PCI slot. Have to uninstall all drivers and then download Realtek HD Audio manager for the integrated motherboard sound card first, then then drivers/audio manager for the sound card in the PCI slot second (such as Sound Blaster), if you have two cards. This should make it work.
Oddly satisfying fix!

Stavros Zar, Awesome! Glad it worked!
If you watched the tutorial that told you to turn of detection. Just go into file explorer -> Program Files -> Realtek -> Audio -> HBU -> RtkGUI64 and then you are done. I might of gotten the last 2 things wrong but when you click on Audio there will be one folder click on it then click on the Realtek speaker icon and then configure the setting and keep putting your cords in until they both work.
Brooo after 12 hours of search this finally helped me ;)
Awesome!!
thank...i am from Argentina...i don't speak english but your tutorial helped me

Hello, how about a Blue Port Fix? Mine is not Working, I don't know why I didn't even use it.
KEJP Gaming , if you are getting clipping and popping noises, turn off the power save mode on the USB port itself in the Advanced Power Settings.

Dillian Stockman - you are welcome! So glad it worked!
Thank you so much man! problem solve!
WOW! Thanks man,I wasted time on realtek installing/uninstalling all this time the new windows update deleted the drivers
James C, Glad it worked for you! Took me 5 hours to figure it out!
Al I watched several tutorials on RUclips and none could help, they only told me to install drivers.
James C, yeah, that’s the same thing that happened to me, and that’s when I realized I needed to make a video.
Thanks man, this really helped me out :)
That’s good to hear! Glad it helped.
thanks it worked for me !...in my case only windows 7 drivers where available but they worked perfectly.....In the realtek audio manage I had to select each rear audio port and reassing their function for audio out speaker and it was fine after that..
"wmic basebaord get product" change to "wmic baseboard get product"
Good catch!
Hey nice video, did not work for me. I have a cheap wireless headset. When I turn it on and my mic is "active", all other sounds disappears. If I select the "hands free" for both input and output it works, but the sound quality is terrible. I would like to use the stereo headset for output and hands free for input. Do you have any idea what to do? I have tried a LOT of different things, so now I ask you directly since you seem to be pretty good at this. :D thanks!!
thanks ALOT !!! u saved me like alot of time searching for the answer
Dianops, you are welcome!!!
Youve just saved my ass, thank you kind lord.
Luke_ Awesome! You're very welcome!
You saved me man, good vid
Carlos Castaneda - Awesome!
What if the software is downloaded and works fine but only the headset setting isn't working?
My mic works fine, my headphones work fine, and either option still supports. But when I click "headset" my mic no longer picks up :/
Xhan you might need two pronged headphones with a plug for mic and plug for headphones like these Egghead EGG-IAG-1007-1019-SO-PK Stereo School Headphones with Boom Microphone and Dual 3.5 mm Plugs and Bonus Adapter, Silver www.amazon.com/dp/B07BDSMHJZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VngDCb6F5YT98
oddly enough... I installed the windows 11 driver from the manufacturer and the mic sounds so much better! I guess windows 10 before the update messed up the drivers. somehow and the Gigabyte software never attempted to get the right drivers after
OH MY GAWD THANK YOU SO MUCH
Lilhiss, you are very welcome! Glad it works!!

Austin Mason, glad it worked!!
Been trying to fix this and none had worked, I have Realtek but it's only called "Realtek (R)" not Realtek HD Audio. Do you have any other solution for this?
I also have MaxxaudioPro installed & it's supposed to help but when I click the playback option it does not let me edit it at all.
I suspect that my laptop is just "ancient"... but I'm having trouble fixing the static on my mic. I already tried downloading the Realtek HD Manager, but no bueno. My motherboard is Lenovo VIQY0Y1. Help or advice is very much appreciated. Thanks!
Melissa Herman sounds like it will be a hardware problem if you hear static, try a different plug in mic and see if it changes anything. Could also be a bad worn out mic port or interference from other devices as well.
I tried this and worked. My only problem is that I cant use Razer surround after I re installed windows. I really dont know what to do, the sound is ok but then razer has electric noises all the time and was working before re installing windows :(
Raar Rowan , it could be the installation order. Many times you may need to uninstall Realtek and then uninstall Razer also, then install the Motherboard Version of Realtek, reboot, and then install Razer after the Motherboard version of Realtek. I have Sound Blaster software and it didn’t work because I only uninstalled and reinstalled Sound Blaster, and found I had to do the full uninstall of both Realtek and Sound Blaster, then install the correct Motherboard Realtek and then Sound Blaster after Realtek and it worked.
Here's a fix: This issue is common after a clean install. If you have Realtek manager working, you can freely update your OS without it affecting Realtek Manager. However, after a clean install, if you run Windows update before installing Realtek driver, Realtek manager won't work. What you need to do is to clean install without an internet connection. Do not run Windows update. Install the Realtek driver, and you will see that Realtek manager is working. Now you can connect back to the internet, and let Windows update run.
Sean Robinson JR , interesting.
I LOVE YOU DUDE!!!! :D

Is it normal that after setting up the Realtek Audio, tells me to reboot my system and automatically reinstall my drivers? I have done the work of waiting reinstalling Realtek but isn't it also odd that it has to do it three times in a row?
Thanks man. Tried it many times and no luck. But at last try it by unplugged from internet then it works fine. Don't know why, maybe Windows 10 doesn't want you to have it because they want you to use Dolby or DTS option.

Maybe you can help me out, I looked through everything in Google and nothing helps me out. My PC out of nowhere doesnt want to detect my Mic. When I plug it out and in again, he detects that I plugged something in, in the Manager he shows that the Rear Pink Plug is in use, but I cant click the Pink one unlike the Green one and it says my mic "Is not plugged in"
