- The instrument is a nyckelharpa and the song is 'Gammelkäring', a traditional in the style of Hanne Kjersti Yndestad. The nyckelharpa pieces are partly written by me and partly inspired by Folk och Rackare. I filmed by a lake in Northern Denmark and the mist was hanging heavily after the rain.

you shold record an album only with folk music, it is so perfect
I am thinking of writing an acoustic dark folk record as my next release
Myrkur Øksemorder perfect!!! ❤
That would be great, I know I speak for most of us when I say that we would love an album like that!
Awesome as always! Love you!
Your music is so fucking amazing. You should record an album.
Greetings from Mexico!!
Oh my, please do. Would be an instant purchase for me at least :D
Only thing wrong with this is it is too short.

I don't think they had too much time on their hands in between pillaging villages :P
you could say that, or you could say it ended perfectly. max and excellent use of the time. Nordic effiency. she did well, skål from norway
That's what she said.
The world needs so much more music like this. Please don't stop creating.
It'll make a grown man cry
That's some real shit right there

We need one hour of nyckelharpa's atmospheric playing!
Älskar mitt Skandinavien.
Freya is proud of you!
Amazing!
Imagine walking in the woods and suddenly you hear this from distance? I'd feel blessed lol
listen, strange women singing in ponds is no basis for a system of government...
her folk songs remind me of the witcher
Huza George It reminded me of assassin's creed at first until I heard her singing; then I started thinking of witcher.
Reminds me of the the city of falkreath in skyrim
Huza George The Witcher soundtrack is so good, especially the first game's
because its the only time you heard folk music
It goes to show how much work they actually put into Witcher. True Poles, those CD Projekt Red folks.
who needs to study for finals when you can listen to Nordic Folk music
I love the similarity with arabic folk music, the drone is everything! You can also hear the roots of Irish music in this one piece so much
The roots of Americana Folk too!
this song has been stuck in my head for three years and only now did i just find it again.
Its the full moon as of right now, I live in a forest. I don't think any camera will ever capture how beautiful a moonlit forest is. I heard this song and I felt as if I had to go out and dance in the moonlit forest, thank you for this masterpiece
Make a nordic folk album pls!
search for Irmelin
Search on any music source- Myrkur. That is the name of her band. Saw here in York. AMAZING 🤤
im a piano student of 20 years and guitar of 10 years - the sound of this instrument is like nothing ive ever heard other than in movies! yet you play it like it was a companion in your mothers womb. please continue making videos, people like you are the reason people like me get inspiration and motivation to keep playing
Time and time again, the Norse prove themselves to be the most fair and the most fearsome. Skald!
Beautiful song, beautiful music, beautiful woman. With love from Russia.
6 months ago I would never had said this, but this genre is much better for you than metal.
Agreed
Xeph Xen That's definitely a thing.
This genre is metal a f xD Many nordic metal bands have borrowed elements from the roots of folk music :)
Well metal helps me release my aggression and negativity and makes me feel strong, and calm music helps with my anxiety so I think people should just listen to and make the music that they want
@@chocolatepudding1241 Buddhists believed in harnessing the power of positive and negative both light and dark you can't have one without the other it'd only make sense for an artist to want to release both feelings as more artists should its good for the soul.
We Swedes don't mind our neighbours playing our instrument when it's this beutiful
We hardly have a monopoly on the nyckelharpa. It belongs to the Danes as much as it belongs to us.
Well if we wanna be technical, most Germanic peoples came from Denmark, and southern parts of Scandinavia. So our cultures are all related
then as a Norwegian, i should add, we would kick Your ass if you tried, like in almost everything else. hehe
all Scandinavia agree this is positive, and if they don't they are not on Our side, they are fools. This is reality.
@@Sorlendingen82 the only thing you kick ass at is finding oil. without it you would be a third world country
@@knrsalo1398 Actually, that’s not entirely true. It’s a misconception that Norway was poor before they found oil. In 1950, Norway was right below average amongst the 16 richest OECD countries. Hard to know how Norway would be today without the oil, but the odds weren’t low before Norway had oil. Also, it’s pretty cool for Norwegians that they can claim the origin of Vikings, just as a historical bonus.😄
this is the most beautiful thing ever, i dont even know what to see wow.... it feels like an unreal world i'd like to go to
takes me to another place when you sing and play
That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Both instrument and voice. 💞💕
Omg this is so beautiful. It sounds so mystical and wonderful.
I didn't know such an instrument existed until this. Beautiful singing, playing, and setting.
So beautiful, the lake and all!
Haunting! Love this, Myrkur!
This song, style and sound speaks to me.
This is stunning! Thank you for sharing this and thank you for the music. Love and blessings to you ❤🙏
Ancestors' blood stirs inside me. Amazing. Please record more Swedish folk!
It's not Swedish, its danish
@@landlord3863 "Gammelkäring" is in fact a traditional Norwegian folk song and the instrument played in the video is a Swedish instrument. The artist is Danish though.

Woah, that was Beautiful. 💐
I revisit this video many times through out my days of living and I highly enjoy the peaceful state it puts me in. Its very tranquil but powerful. Also makes me want to trail across Middle Earth.
That is such an interesting sound. I swear this women has the magic in her soul.
She has the voice of a thousand Angels 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Or just one angel
Your voice and instrument sound are just amazing!
Omg chills everywhere. Feel like it transported me back to another life...
imagine taking a morning walk on the other side of that river and suddenly you hear this coming from the other side of the misty lake, youd think you were about to get spirited away lmao

Wow, this almost sounds medieval, beautiful!
Beautiful music and singing from a talented artist. Mareridt is one of the best albums of 2017.
I really appreciate the two videos I've watched of you, the sound you produce is enjoyable.
Very beautiful place and performance. Congratulations..
So happy to be scandinavian! This was so beautiful!
i am speechless... So pure !
This is so beautiful! I cannot stop listening to it. Somehow it almost brings back a sense of nostalgia. If it isn't too much to ask, a longer version of this would be amazing!
My great grandfather was from Norway. I'd like to reconnect with my Norse heritage. This is beautiful.
Its not norwegian. Its a bastard between danish, norwegian and swedish. Cudos for her learning that. It was what scandinave spoke before 1845. Then came the french and british empires. Bokkmål, skånsk and dansk can attest to that.
Heritage is gone, brown people live there now
bellissima e bravissima, in una parola: magica;)
Beautiful! Thank you.
her voice is wonderful and the sound of that lovely instrument , this video is very atmospheric , the scenery and the music go flow together in charming harmony .

Is this what heaven sounds like?
I keep coming back to this video, I love it.
when i went to bed after listening to this for a while, i had a pretty good dream about a group of nords wandering along a lake so thank you
My ancestral blood has been stimulated.
Love it from Morocco blad lk7la
it brings happiness, thanks for sharing over the internet, great voice and recording
This was just incredible and the view is breathtaking! I really enjoyed the presence of your performance. This is nothing like the music I hear in my country in today's generation on the radio and it is really a joy to be watching and listening to this. sometimes I feel that there is no need for a recording studio to create the most technically refined audio possible because there is so much meaning right where you are standing!
Daughter of Odin
No she drank from odin’s mead so she has the power of true music
This makes me even more proud of my European roots than I already am such beautiful music
"European" roots? Are you Scandinavian? Or are you of some other "European" ancestry and somehow think my ancestry belongs to you?
Reminds me of a different time. Thank you for your titlark.
This is both beautiful and haunting. I love it!
So basically, the old school Nords knew what real music was.
This is incredible and very inspirational!
This should be featured on the next Elder Scrolls O.O
that's exactly what i thought when i first listened to her music! :-)
Perhaps not though, seeing as it would be quite strange for Bethesda to make another game set in Skyrim.

I'm not blonde or Scandinavian but I fell in love with this song 😍😍
Your voice, the instrument and the scenic lake.. soo so beautiful.
Love your music good bless you and your family
This makes me feel like a maid somewhere in Europe with this week's laundry in a weave basket on one hip, walking on cobblestones to get to a river to wash my clothes early in the morning before the merchants and schoolchildren fill the streets, a light breeze and mist on the ground
I can't tell you how beautifully and precisely you've captured the emotions that emanate from this song!!! My sentiments exactly! I'd love to be such a maid!!
please save your beautiful indigenous nordic culture! good vibes from a indigenous American person! don't let them destroy your heritage and race as they did with us!
Gorgeous music. Thank you.
I drifted off to sleep to this last night...so wonderful to fall asleep to. A whole hour of it would be amazing! Yes please make a folk record of this nyckelharpa music, I would snatch it up right away. Beautiful. 💖👍

I know right. Sweden are being run by absolute terrorists that want to destroy not only sweden but the entire western civilization. They want to eradicate our nations znd our history and replace them with their global mishmash where everyone is supposedly floating on happy rainbows. A total utopia and a nightmare to think about for any sane person.

When instead of Nordic you read Slavic and you just know how it's gonna go from there.
Better watch out when she starts playing..
