    This is the first Suhr that just made my jaw drop. At the time, I didn't know who Suhr was, and didn't know who Pete Thorn was, but it was just the most beautiful guitar I'd ever seen.

    Your musicality and the chords you play are just magical and inspiring. Such a refreshing break from the same 'ole blues licks everyone else seems to play. Your demo really shows the variety of tones and versatility of this guitar. I am awaiting my custom chambered mahogany Suhr Modern T with Thornbucker+/Thornbucker pickups and Pete Thorn electronics. Great video. Lots to learn from your playing and chord voicings. Thank you.

    I thought the opening sounded like a Les Paul with 50s wiring. Naturally, the design gives tighter bass and less lower mids. For ages, humbuckers have been voiced hotter and darker, and perhaps that's how people think of Les Pauls now, but the first demo examples I heard of a Les Paul had that vintage openness and presence. I've got two Les Pauls; one is a Gibson voiced mid heavy, and the other is a copy with a 50s wiring harness, and PAF clones with output on the lower side. Two different beasts entirely. This Suhr sounds great! The closest I've come to playing a guitar with the Suhr precision and build quality was a Levinson Blade many years ago. That blue Suhr Tom Quayle used to play was amazing- easily his most unique tone. I'd love that guitar.

    I have one just prior to this bridges release, and the G and D pull 2 or 3 cents sharp, but come back with a bend. It really doesn’t bother me. The upgrade became available after a few months, but I kept the original. I really like the neck and frets, and overall comfort and sound. It’s a pleasure to play. But after the PT, I bought a Strat for the more genuine single coil sounds. The PT is right in the middle, lots of great sounds from it. I think the bridge is a PT+ pickup. Crimson Red looks nice too, happy with the Turquoise. Congrats.

    Great video Paul. I've just bought a 3rd Suhr, a JM. Others are Alt T and an old classic S which got me in to them. They make great instruments especially for lefties. I like the demonstration of all the pickup positions, and the tone seems like it's really good. One thing that I don't like is virtually every single demonstration was the overused G-D-C chord progression. Should have mixed it up with some Em, Am, F Major, etc. I have one Suhr guitar and am extremely impressed with the quality, tone, and playability.

    Sounds like a Telecaster more so than a Les Paul, the bridge and wood selection gives it an slightly different flavour, than a Tele but very similar I would still prefer the Les Paul for blues and rock, although this would sound great for fusion and funky styles.

    • @ronsiegel1084
      @ronsiegel1084 3 года назад

      Interesting to me--looking at the jp15-what kind of music do you play with it?

    • @michaelcarter3334
      @michaelcarter3334 3 года назад

      @@ronsiegel1084 Ron, I'm recovering from a stroke so any music now is a win. For reference I picked up a used Mesa TC50. With clean, crunch and lead channels, in addition to foot switchable boost it's pretty versatile. Pre stroke amps were a vintage 65 SR, JB tweed twin and a couple plexi clones. Take the Mesa versatility and then add the JP Piezo pickups, coil tap and push vol boost (up to 20 db) and you can cover anything you would want to play. I play a lot of blues. A JP15 might not seem like a first choice, but with coil tap I can get a great clean or cleanish sound. With Piezo I have acoustic covered. With the volume and tone knobs I can get good HB tones. Then went I want to reply the 80s songs I have that and more in reserve. Post stroke I had trouble gripping a LP neck and I didn't have access to my strats. I went into a store and just picked up every instrument then had until I found a neck I could play. The JP is thinner than I would normally use, and much flatter, but it just worked. And it's light and comfortable. I rarely ever used any tremolo, but this one stays in tune. The guitar is flawlessly made. Everything just fits and works. I really had little Idea who JP was and I don't like DT music, but this guitar was well designed. I bought a TH LP and took it back. No way would I want to lug that around when I'm getting what I want from the JP. To each their own. I almost refused to buy it because of it's looks (dumb). And I took it back because it just doesn't look like something I would play. Then next way when I went to a practice studio I missed it immediately and I called and bought it back. Your results may vary, but I find it the true Swiss Army knife of guitars. I still own two vintage 60s strats, a couple great teles, and a mid 80s LP Showcase Edition. But they can all go. The JP15 is also the easiest guitar I've ever played. It was perfect for me to relearn how to fret on and it will be perfect as I continue playing. I'm back to over 90% my pre stroke level. And it's the only guitar I pick up. I could be my old self and say the JP15 through the Mesa doesn't exactly do LP through the twin or a strat/tele through the SR. But the truth is it gets close enough for me and I've never been good enough to play before people who would really be able to notice. Give it a shot. Even if, like me, you may have to close your eyes at first. Now I appreciate the rosewood body and neck and the craftsmanship. We can all change.
