- A player of Pete Thorn’s caliber doesn’t put his name on any old guitar, and this black beauty lives up to the hype! Pete has played with everyone from Melissa Etheridge to Chris Cornell, so he needed a guitar that would be able to cover a lot of stylistic ground, and this Suhr doesn’t disappoint in that regard. Each position on the five-way selector switch has a fantastic, unique sound. With a flick of the wrist, you can go from warm and mellow to biting to jangly and pretty. It’s the musical equivalent of a stylish, sleek Swiss army knife. If you’ve got a hard rock gig on Wednesday and a jazz gig on Friday, this may very well be the guitar for you.

I know the Wildwood audience tends to fawn over Greg - but if you don't know Pete you definitely should check out his channel.
Agree wholeheartedly. Pete's albums are very good and worth checking out too.
@Rage Theatre2020 Wildwood should get John 5 to demo a few Teles :)
Pete thorn is such an underrated guitarist, very humble guy and just a kickass person in general. He makes any review sound outstanding. I’ve had the privilege to meet him 2 times and take a picture with him. One of my favorite guitarist and RUclips’s! Rock on Pete!
Just bought the red one. Excited to get it!
I love my gold one. What a beautiful, unique guitar. A great design by all of those involved in its production. Thanks!
Pete!! Kinda bummed you were in town and didn't look me up. Then again we've never met and there's no reason whatsoever you would know of me.
hahahhaha genuinely laughed out loud
Beautiful, user-friendly, well-sounding and nicely finished versatile guitars. 👌🏼 Congratulations Pete!
Selling my Modern to a student and going for the Red One here!!Sounds great!Love the tonal options!!
Great review of your new signature guitar! I think you achieved your objective of having a very flexible, do-all guitar that captures a lot of the essence of both a Les Paul and a Stratocaster. And by the way, it looks great.
I think my search for a perfect guitar has finally ended. I'm gonna buy this guitar. There's no force in universe that can stop me from doing it ;)
i will stop u
+@@soofitnsexy WHY?
DO IT !!!!
Did you buy the guitar?
@@nirmalkoirala9660 No. Too expensive. I Have ESP E-II ST-2 and i'm very happy with it.
My next guitar!!!
Sooo great to see Pete representing on Wildwood - he's an amazing artist and a seriously great talent. 👍👌✌🙂🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸🎸
So cool to see Pete on Wildwood! Between you and Wildwood’s Greg Koch, you guys are the best players I enjoy watching and hearing play! Thanks Pete
Congratz on the new signature axe, Pete! Looks & sounds amazing!
Love that color! Red is for me, a beautiful guitar all around sounds awesome Pete 👍
Yay, Suhr products at Wildwood at last. So glad.
I can't speak about Pete's signature guitar, but I did put his pickups in my LesPaul. "Balance" is exactly how I'd describe them. Really a nice set of pickups. Very happy with them.
that black one is gorgeous.
My 1986 Ibanez Roadstar II has locking saddles on a the Trem system! Little cartridges slide down in a whole on top of each string to lock them down! Interesting Japanese guitar makers were so cool! Now I have both!
Very nice indeed
What a well thought out instrument! 22 frets. Classic wood match. Excellent pickup switching. I am so envious. I have to play some things this weekend and agonizing over bringing a bunch of stuff to crappy gigs.
Met him at NAMM, really great guy, great player. Really excited to try one of these out one day!
It says medium frets in the description, but he says they are big jumbo frets. Is the description wrong, or are the Suhr medium frets just big?
paldenno1 hi! I think the guitar ports jumbo size. He clearly said it has 80’s jumbo frets.
Super cool! Pete’s an amazing player and I hope to try this guitar some day!
I love it. It's a super strat that looks like a Kalamazoo Les Paul.
Man has a eye for great guitar detail that's for sure.
love that black top one, classy like a pair of red bottomed shoes
Timothy Pashé yes, right on!
You gotta have chops to present for wild wood guitars, and pete's gottem in spades!
The Thornbuckers are fantastic. I love them in the Alt T Pro as well.
Still, this guitar seems to have been built up from Paul Reed Smith’s principles. That’s not to say that I think Pete should have gone to PRS.. but I think it does tell us that there is now generation of boutique luthiers working in the space that PRS created.
Great playing and video. How's the neck on these signature models? They kinda looks "satin" like, and fast?
Got thornbuckers on a T-style Suhr. Great sounding - Really different in the 2 and 4 settings. Best on their isolated pickup settings in my humble opinion 👍
A very nice, well thought out guitar!
Pete Thorn Signature Pickup !!!
what about the nick ?!
You need to top route next iteration, that is the new trend for 2 point trems.
Great salesman. I didn't think I wanted one til I watched the video.
My red one arrived 2 days ago.
Seems the intent is a hybrid between a mahogany Les Paul with the feel and playability of a super strat. Just wonder if it actually sounds and projects like a LP?
Looks almost exactly like Brian Moore custom shop super strats. Way before Suhr made them. You don’t know about them because they went direct only. Some look like a smaller version of PRS with tops imo that beat them. At least the ones I have. Have Seymour Duncan’s in them whatever combination you want. Have bengal striped tops, curly maple tops, chameleon tops with 4 colors way before PRS. That’s more than 10 yrs old. Guys used to paint their cars with chameleon paint. They have if you want and I don’t, usb and synth connections. Piezo’s in the bridge. The jacks in the back. The body’s curved for comfort and thinner. Santana’s side man uses them. Too bad people don’t know about them anymore.
I like this guitar but I don’t know about that bridge. I hate a Floyd Rose. I am confused as to wether I can change my tuning without unlocking anything or rebalancing the bridge does anyone know? I am constantly going up and down a half step, and like to be able to easily switch to drop D. If this is as easy to string up as a fixed bridge I might just get one.
Please bend the string pete after using tremolo arm .. btw love that guitars
What's the scale length of the neck?
Man, I've been wanting either hb's on my strat, or an S type with hb's. But not just any hb's. PAF style, while still retaining the core Strat voice. Seems like you made it happen, Pete! But... I am afraid to ask how much, Suhr's are high end aren't they?? I mean...high end is good - great! - but can a humble factory hand like myself afford one..?
I checked on reverb and you can pick one up for about 3 grand!!!....yep, a true working mans guitar!!!....whatever!!!
That red is a stunning guitar indeed; if you have that extra extra cash.
They aren’t much if one considers the cost of an aircraft carrier
Who are the 5 who’ve unliked this vid? Pete’s awesome and so’s the guitar. I may need to thin out my herd to get one I think.
He is quite skilled
Did Joe teach you that move on the Whole Lotta Love Intro?
Two more months and I’ll have mine
That guitar has both girth and savagery.
Doug FA I know who says that
Left handed?
Yes. You can order a lefty. I asked in Australia.
Mine is left-handed.
He needs a purple one
View some shawn tubs. Help u get some better playing going. But good video
Pete my brother! Can John make an HSS version of your axe or would that void the "sig" thing. I know it's not the smartest question but thought I'd take a shot. Of course he makes infinite variations of what would in essence be as close as need be. But.......if it were to be a Pete Thorn sig now!! Oh yea! Thx as always dude.
Fran Kardos I’ve thought about doing one someday!
@@PeteThorn Yours would be killa! OMG Thx buddy. I'm always renewed when I see things your doing. Bless you
If you make a white one with the same red back I'm, all over it.
Pete actually gives a pretty nice pitch here - guitar sounds like a good one! $3500 is not outrageous for a guitar with these characteristics.
Tuxedo and sneakers is not classy. That's something the most classy people in the world think.
Nice instruments though, great sound selection (surprised me)
All likeable but for the thin neck... :(
oh yea guitar sounds like crap!!
