I was admitted to the ER on June 23rd for emergency craniotomy brain surgery. I was brought back to life by doctors and woke up 3 days later in the ICU. All I remember is severe migraines, vomiting, and blacking out. All I know is I stayed in the ICU for 9 days, two days in a regular room, and I'm back home now. The symptoms after my surgery include loss of memory, hard time concentrating, loss of balance, etc. By the grace of God, I have all my physical and mental abilities, and I'm here to use this as a part of my testimony. Idk what God has in store for me. I plan to continue to ask for strength from up above

I just had a craniotomy on oct 25 i was out the hospital in 2 days up walking and talking. I am 57 years old i am already back to work in less than a month. I am still taking it easy but i am grateful i am still here.
Recovery time depends on many factors: the type of operation, age of the patient, immunity strength, etc...5 years after my brain tumor surgery and long difficult period of revalidation i still haven't fully recovered...the best is to go with the flow, stay optimistic and live as healthily as possible...

I was ventilated an have no sense for 3 days .further I was in ICU for 4 days and 8 days at normal room .I feel little pain on back side of head and nerves of my neck side . After one month I was under gone cranioplasty . After cranioplasty surgery I feel much better and no any pains on the back of head . Thanks for all doctors

I am consuming lots of water, bone broth, and animal foods. I dont consume sugar, grains, vegetables, or seed oils. I am using ice packs and will be encouraging blood flow on the incision area as soon as I get the okay. My health is so good because I don't have any underlying conditions. I don't take any medication for anything. I am just on Tylenol for pain and remainder of steroid prescription. My surgeon and hospital staff were amazed at my quick recovery. I am blessed beyond words!!

Someone’s idea of low carb differed from mine since they served stuffed shells and sugar-free pudding. Packing keto-bricks, LMNT, dried berries and jerky for an upcoming surgery.
@@QuiltBeadKnit Oh my, I was on liquid diet for two days. Broth, jello, lemon ice, coffee, tea. I was nauseous and threw up the small amount of broth. I did not eat much. On second day I asked for bacon and eggs and had that twice. Black coffee and that was all till I came home. I had a ribeye as soon as as I got home. I made bone broth and have been sipping on that for two weeks each morning. The collagen is helping me heal quickly. Good luck with your hospital stay.
I'm in week two of recovery and I'm happy as the resection was a life saver and bought me more time. I can't express how difficult recovery is without excercise. I really wish there was more I could be doing than just laying in bed.

I am doing great, and am off all pain meds and drugs. I felt good immediately after surgery and had side effects from all the pain meds, including morphine, steroids, oxycodone. I had nausea, constipation, but as I weaned off everything, I started feeling better. I drove yesterday on day 12, and did fine. The surgeon and hospital staff were amazed at how quickly I bounced back. The way I eat has much to do with my speedy recovery. I am 64 years young and am looking forward to my continued healthy recovery.

I had this after a bad case of bacterial meningitis, I was in the hospital for 3 weeks, 1 week of NICU and another 2 weeks learning to walk and then a month of antibiotics through a picc line. Through Emory university
I was about to drive after 10 days. Obviously, everyone is different, but, waiting until 8 weeks to drive or work is abnormally long per other medical posts.

My wife had a craniotomy in June after months of severe migraines. She had clotting on the right side of her brain and had it removed. She still suffers from headaches almost daily. If anyone else has been in this situation or is going through it currently is there any advice that you can give me ? @@osirishill23 good day I also had craniotomy on the same place n yes it's very normal bt ur wife must always just rest if the pain starts cos it affects everything,the ear,the eye n even the balance ,u always feel drunk also ,,so wt I do is I drink a pain killer n lots of water n then go slp ,I always use a cold cloth with ice in or ice pack helps with the pain then I massage the spot n my whole side of my head ,,deep breaths also help alot n take ur mind of anything that's bothering u....I pray 🙏 this helps cos it helps me alot ,I've found my own ways of coping n dealing ,, God bless
Help… Does a person who suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and underwent Craniectomy surgery, resulting in paralysis and speech loss, still retain their pre-stroke identity? Is the 'old' them still inside but now live in a way where they can’t express the sleeve like they used to ? Or it’s a “ new “ them? Edit: I have realised it’s them still. The “old them” is still here and inside them but they lost the ability to express themselves, the thought of it is excruciating. Hi! I survived a hemorrhagic stroke by the Grace of God. I can walk, speak clearly, think clearly, no paralysis but I have left eye peripheral vision challenges. I have the blues sometimes but I use positive self-talk & breath work& I listen to music and binaural beats for brain synchronization with headphones. I have a therapist who’s a huge help. I have a friend that suddenly had a stroke and went thru the surgery where they opened his skull to reduce damage from the blood bleeding. Is the brain cells damaged and he doesn’t know or he knows but is trapped in the current body? Isn’t it super hard that he can’t talk and move by himself anymore? It pains me to think about it.
I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke almost 6 years ago. I was left side week and needed 7 months of physical therapy.... I do live a pretty normal life for the most part. My biggest struggle is cognitive... it has affected me with my jobs. I will say my sister has said I've changed in ways she can't explain. Much love and healing...

Yes. I had a Craniotomy done 5 weeks ago for a level 2 grade Meningioma brain tumor. For the first few weeks the medication Keppra gave me a lot of bad side effects such as, depression, mood swings, anger and suicidal thoughts. My body got used to the medication and now I no longer have these side effects. It gets better, I promise.

I was diagnosed with a cavernoma in 2009 at age 22 went through 5 brain surgery’s and had a vp shunt installed in my 4th ventricle I am 38 today I am mentally and emotionally broken I am physically disabled and wish that the cavernoma took my life I have been barely existing for the last 15 years and pray for death there is no hope if you have a cavernous malformation even if you survive the surgery

No. I had brain surgery when I was 19, I’m 31 now, no hair has grown or will ever grow again on the incision sight, however the piece of skull they remove then put back on will grow hair again.
My mom is 76 was sleeping for 2 weeks or more. The brain needs to rest therefore you need to sleep. After a stroke patients sleep even after recovery 16 hours a day

Hey this was/is me! 11 years ago when I was living in Florida I was seeing a band in Orlando with a friend from work. We were there a little over 2 hours I had 3 beers at this point and I left the bar to use the restroom. I'm very thin, but I was not inebriated. I went to the restroom. Pissed. I remember washing my hands, and suddenly woke up 2 weeks later. I had undergone a craniotomy. A bit of my skull was removed to alleviate a brain-bleed. The skull fragment was replaced and screwed back in place. I still have no clue what happened. All that we could put together was via guesses from the physical therapists and my surgeons. They explained that the pressure and force needed to cause the level of damage I had done to my head would need to involve an outside force. A simple slip and fall would not have caused this damage, unless the fall was from over 10 feet up, and even then I would have needed to land like a jackhammer directly into my head. I spend eight months in the hospital. I had to learn to walk again. The damage had such weird effects on me. When I was given food I wouldn't notice any food on the left side of the plate, it would have to be rotated by nurses or visiting friends or family. Ever so slowly I got better. I could walk though I would slowly drift to the left. My cognitive functions slowly returned. They asked me to draw a clock on paper showing a specific time- the left side of the clock was messy but correct, the right side was fucking gibberish. Just symbols, squiggles, and lines representative of nothing. Though while I filled them out it was spot on correct in my head. After the cognitive therapist would look at it they would hand it back and point this out to me. It was fucking mind-blowing. Imagine being given paper to write your name, the date, your parent's names, and 3 favorite foods. Which you do, and in your mind see it was correctly done. Once it's returned to you and you look again you notice that it's essentially hieroglyphics. It took a little over two years to recover. I had to move out of my apartment and back in with my parents for about a year. I underwent my cognitive and physical therapy. Relearned to drive. Eventually I was deemed to be as normal as I was going to get, and got to go back to my old life. More or less. Beyond that I started having seizures last year. While the TBI isn't specifically why I'm now epileptic, my doctors all explained that it was a contributing factor at the least.

Life after craniotomy is very difficult n different but very huuuge thanks to god that he saved my life for my only daughter n my small cute family😊

Had tumor removed from my brain 6 weeks ago. Now the incision on my head is draining fluid. I have called the surgeons line & asked if this is normal, but never gotten a response. Does anybody know if this goes with recovery after brain surgery?

avoid cranioplasty if possible because: you will have a foreign body sensation in the head, a state of accentuated fatigue, headaches, etc.
Isnt cranioplasty unavoidable??? How are you supposed to live a normal life with a missing section of skull?
@@FredDeadRedemtion it's horrible ... in my situation the diagnosis was wrong ... if possible I recommend you to avoid cranioplasty
@@catalincatalin3945 in my situation it was necessary I had a decompressive craniotomy after my accident and I needed it to have a regular shaped skull again.

Hey this was/is me! 11 years ago when I was living in Florida I was seeing a band in Orlando with a friend from work.
We were there a little over 2 hours I had 3 beers at this point and I left the bar to use the restroom.
I'm very thin, but I was not inebriated.
I went to the restroom. Pissed. I remember washing my hands, and suddenly woke up 2 weeks later.
I had undergone a craniotomy. A bit of my skull was removed to alleviate a brain-bleed. The skull fragment was replaced and screwed back in place.
I still have no clue what happened. All that we could put together was via guesses from the physical therapists and my surgeons.
They explained that the pressure and force needed to cause the level of damage I had done to my head would need to involve an outside force.
A simple slip and fall would not have caused this damage, unless the fall was from over 10 feet up, and even then I would have needed to land like a jackhammer directly into my head.
I spend eight months in the hospital.
I had to learn to walk again. The damage had such weird effects on me. When I was given food I wouldn't notice any food on the left side of the plate, it would have to be rotated by nurses or visiting friends or family.
Ever so slowly I got better. I could walk though I would slowly drift to the left. My cognitive functions slowly returned.
They asked me to draw a clock on paper showing a specific time- the left side of the clock was messy but correct, the right side was fucking gibberish. Just symbols, squiggles, and lines representative of nothing. Though while I filled them out it was spot on correct in my head. After the cognitive therapist would look at it they would hand it back and point this out to me. It was fucking mind-blowing.
Imagine being given paper to write your name, the date, your parent's names, and 3 favorite foods. Which you do, and in your mind see it was correctly done.
Once it's returned to you and you look again you notice that it's essentially hieroglyphics.
It took a little over two years to recover. I had to move out of my apartment and back in with my parents for about a year.
I underwent my cognitive and physical therapy. Relearned to drive. Eventually I was deemed to be as normal as I was going to get, and got to go back to my old life. More or less.
Beyond that I started having seizures last year. While the TBI isn't specifically why I'm now epileptic, my doctors all explained that it was a contributing factor at the least.
