I can’t imagine how stressful it must be to have to see a bill that huge, even if you are insured, along with trying to get better from a serious illness.
For 2 bags of saline to wash out a wound, 5 staples and two nurses/doctors to look at my head and say "yep. It needs staples and you probably have a concussion" about 30 minutes spent in the hospital cost me almost 6k USD. Originally it did but then insurance 6 or 7 months later said sike we paid it, here's some money back. It's crazy expensive out here and insurance will do everything they can to not pay.
Honestly, that probably isn’t too inflated for a 9 hour surgery followed by a 2 day hospital stay. Anesthesia alone probably costed upwards of 8 grand. If a person in the UK, for example, saw the bill for this whole ordeal, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was close to 175,000 dollars
I suppose the way they shaved your head really emphasizes the fact that this was a planned thing. Mine was an emergency and they made me look like I'd been attacked by a lawnmower!

My dad got his brain surgery done 2 days ago (tuesday) to remove a brain tumor. It was deep in the brain, but everything went according to plan. The crazy part is, he was supposed to be in the hospital for another 3 days. It's really a miracle that we have these amazing neurosurgeons

I’ve never been more excited about a RUclips notification in my entire life!!! So happy to see you back and I am in awe of your consistent optimism. Welcome back
I just came upon your channel by accident two days ago, and I love the content! Unfortunately, my name is Bryan and I’m 51 years old with a hearing/balance disability. I’ve been through two ear surgeries that made me completely deaf for over a month. I’ve had countless MRI scans and the specialist still doesn’t know why I lose my hearing. My advice to you is continue to do what you’re doing. Surround yourself with positive people and be an inspiration to those around you. My faith in God also helped me get through those lonely dark days. I understand you Simone, and I love you for being bold and courageous about this. Keep your head up and continue with that beautiful smile of yours! Much love and prayers from Vancouver
I was writing basically the same thing. There's a few hundred thousand of us who took this far too personally to not think that Simone is a witch or something. Crying with joy is not something I ever do...... First to label this phenomenon, The Giertz Virus.
I just learned that I have a brain tumor, and I'm having surgery in about 3 weeks. Your videos about your experiences about this have really helped me. Thank you, and I'm glad you're okay Update: Thank you so much for all your kind comments ❤️ As I've replied a while back everything went well, so no need to worry!
I’m going through this process right now and I’m really touched by your storytelling. Thank you for sharing and enlightening the rest of us on this journey. I hope all has turned out well for you.
These are the moments when I would love to say something big but can't figure anything out =D Anyway, I am glad to hear you are doing fine. And good luck in the future =)
I went in for heart surgery. I got a mechanical heart put in. I wrote notes as well to family. Also my doctors name was toyoda. I thanked him for turning me into a prius.
I’m so happy you’re ok! We’ve never met, but you bring joy and entertainment to me and so many other strangers. If I ever meet you, please let me buy you food and ice cream cake.
Okay, we know that Simone is doing good since she without hesitation crack inappropriate jokes. Awesome to see that you are recovering well and all of Sweden wishes you the best of luck with the rest of recovering
I had a craniotomy for the same type of tumor 8 weeks ago. I was curious what other people had experienced. Thank you for putting it out there. It helped me not feel as alone.
I just got done with my craniotomy 3 weeks ago, definitely helps to know other people go through the same thing knowing I’m not alone either. Hope you’re doing well!
I wish we could email. I'd my craniotomy (pericytoma) in Apr '23. I've my 3rd MRI (taken every 6mos) in a few days. Im very worried since the last one said 'stable residue'.
So let's see: Some genuine depth, a few places to really stop and think, and enough times where I laughed right out loud; must be Simone doing what Simone does. Big shout out to everyone who played a part in getting you through all of this, too.
Jesus can give you eternal life. These Bible verses explain how you can have eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 3:23, 3:10, 5:12, 6:23, 5:8-9, 10:9-10, 10:13, 10:17, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Peter 3:9-10). :)
Simone, I wish I could give you a big hug right now. I am so relieved to see you. In 2009 I had to undergo surgery for a rare lung illness and the day before I left I recorded youtube videos for all of my loved ones. I also wrote a collective note for them. It took me a long time to get over the physical trauma and I hope you’ll give yourself time to heal as well. You’re a wonderful person 💗
I just found your channel and I noticed the differences between your eyes, and I thought I wonder if she had brain surgery? I had brain surgery at 15 for an arachnoid cyst and I have mesh in my head too. I'm so proud of you for getting through it, I would watch the rest of this video but brings up too many memories of my surgery. Having someone poke around in your skull is no fun at all but we made it out! (Love your tree house bed btw)
Congratulations on a successful operation! I had brain surgery 35 or so years ago. After my insurance paid 80% I only had $144,000 left to pay myself :> Before the surgery the doctor asked if I wanted him to shave just a part of my head of the whole thing. When I asked what he meant by just a part, he explained I would be able to comb my hair over it and no one would notice. Well, when I woke up from surgery half my head was shaved, and the other half of my head still had butt length hair that was all matted with dried blood. So, I just had a nurse shave the other half. I didn't sleep for several weeks after the surgery. I just played my guitar because it was the only thing I never forgot how to do. I wasn't as lucky as you, I barely knew my own name after surgery. It took me a few years to teach myself to read, write, speak, and understand English all over again.. by myself with no help. I didn't remember friends and my families names, I couldn't remember most my life before then. I bought a computer to help reeducate myself with. I guess I did an okay job, I went on to teach a course in television production at the local community college, and graphic seminars at a couple universities.
Duck, incredible. Just shows the fight in the human spirit is huge! Good for you, against the odds your a successful man today! Sending positive vibes your way. PEACE LOVE & DREAM'S! 🇨🇦 💞🌐🌄🌎💜🌏💙🌍🌅🌊🏄☮💗☁🎬😉
@@championsteam522 Two words: C. diff. Don't even have to tell a story there, because certainly _everyone_ of us from YANTONC (Ye Ancient & Noble Tribe Of Nursing & Caring) has first-hand experience (and gruesome events to remember).
That was a stupid reply. You were asked that question by a non nurse then said you won’t tell a story because other people here know? That’s, stupid...
I think one of the greatest parts about this video is the positive impact it may have on people who may have to go through the same thing. In high school one of my best friend's little sister had to go through the same procedure and at the time there wasn't a lot of testimony online to help comfort his family outside of just reading material. I have personally always found comfort seeing somebody else's story over something I may have to tackle myself, and I think if you do make a video out of the footage that you had documented, I could definitely see it having a positive impact on people who may find themselves in a similar position you were in. I'm happy to hear that you are doing well and I look forward to future videos! Take care, Simone. :)
Thank you so much for posting this, I just discovered this video 11 years post brain surgery (gamma knife). Thank you for your candid conversation and realness, TBI's are a lifelong struggle, and its really hard to find how exactly your story fits into the dynamic. The brain humor is great, having lost a lot of who I was, finding humor has been my greatest discovery.
@@morgancalvi6675 I hope that there can be progress in time with the gamma knife surgery. It took almost 8 months for the surgery to show serious progress on the malformation in my brain. Brain conditions are a long and scary road. I hope the best for you and your family.
So glad to know you are ok. Been missing your videos a lot and that means that, even for brief entertainment periods, you've become a part of all of my daily life and it makes me (and probably all of your subscribers) happy to see you back.
Welcome back dear, strong Simone!! We heard yesterday we are cancer free and i still have trouble believing its actually gone and over. We have one more surgery to go. We are so glad you are okay!! You talked about being the same person afterwards and as someone with DID (multiple personality disorder, check out my channel if you wanna know more about DID) this is something we've also wondered ourselves. It has affected all of our alters. But like you said in the end it's going to be for the better!! Welcome back! 💜💜💜
Thanks for sharing so much about your experience and for being so gracious even when people ask some less than sensitive questions. I'm SO SO glad you're doing well and teared up and laughed during this video. You're amazing and we can't wait to have more laughs with you for many years to come. Best wishes, friend!
I came across your Truckla video before this, in which you so casually mentioned you had a brain tumor. That scar is the mark of a true survivor. I can only hope and pray to be as cool as you are. You defeated Brian and have moved on, conquering the electric truck idea, as well. You are an inspiration to me and to us all.
Simone, congratulations on the success of your brain surgery. I have never watched your channel, or even heard of you before, but I enjoyed listening about your ordeal, and am glad you are doing well.
TONI DUPONT-MORA I found her channel the day AFTER she posted her last video before this. She did a ted talk and I died laughing on the short little Facebook clip I downloaded the ted talk app and watched the whole thing and then found her on youtube and was like "oooh nooo!!" So happy she's back and all healed up. Well again and such. Cause I can't wait to see what life has in store
Kristofers Kozlovs I'm not. I specifically explaine how i found her channel. That I saw her Ted talk. And then wanted to know more. See more of her personality. Idk how rude u could possible be to say such a thing.
Amanda Kaee - I think Kristofers Kozlovs intended to reply to Toni Dupont-Mora, who said "... I enjoyed listening about your ordeal..." in the midst of a mostly positive comment. Funny you seem not to have noticed that in your reply, then lashed out at a reply to it. I'm going to search for the TED talk you mentioned. Thanks for the heads-up.
I'm going in for awake brain tumor surgery next week, and I think I've rewatched all of your videos about a dozen times now, because I've never been more scared in my life, but it seems like you came out of it really well. I had to write that letter to my wife last night, and even thinking about it now makes me pretty teary-eyed. Anyway, hope you're doing well. :)
You probably had many similar messages already, but I'll still say it. I'm happy to hear you are doing well. Good people are hard to find, so take care of yourself.

@@amykathleen2 Thank you for asking! she's doing great! they got 99% of the tumor out and as of right now there is no sign of regrowth. Shes back to work full time already. Lmfaoo! How did nobody think of this yet?! This comment needs more love!
Well Done! Nice one!!
😂😂😂
I went in for heart surgery. I got a mechanical heart put in. I wrote notes as well to family. Also my doctors name was toyoda. I thanked him for turning me into a prius.
Homeless X 😂great joke
I was going to like ur comment, but then I saw it's at 69 likes rn, soooooooooo imma send u dis:
Homeless X LOL
I like the way you see life, hehe. ♥🌼
My brain surgeon's name was Dr. Savage. He was pretty good though.
" I was angry and hungry"
Should've had a snickers kiddo, you're not you when you're hungry
That scar is BADASS! So glad you're ok.
+4 to charisma, at the very least.
Ikr, fucking metal, came to comment this
You really earned that cracked light bulb logo now.
lmao
I’m so happy you’re ok! We’ve never met, but you bring joy and entertainment to me and so many other strangers. If I ever meet you, please let me buy you food and ice cream cake.
D: "Are you ready ?
S: "Yes!"
D: "No, I am!"
$232,736.56 for that amount I want an upgrade not just a fix!
All I got was some titanium mesh
Does cable or satellite come in clearer now?
should at least get some gold filigree or inlaid mother of pearl for that..jesus, this makes me glad im british
That's about 1/25 of the way toward becoming "The Six-Million Dollar (Wo)Man".
Simone Giertz at least your iron man or rather titanium woman!
Okay, we know that Simone is doing good since she without hesitation crack inappropriate jokes. Awesome to see that you are recovering well and all of Sweden wishes you the best of luck with the rest of recovering
And the rest of us!
We’ve missed you Simone. Your scar is BAMF and you’re stronger than ever. Glad to have you back!
Also the haircut! Do people still say lit?
Big shout out to everyone who played a part in getting you through all of this, too.
it's CRAZY how strong this woman is. like holy heck.
Do you have a mother?
Droolpuppy yes but i don’t see how that’s relevant
Evi1M4chine people used to die from small cuts back in the days. What is your point?
@@morgz1069 I guess the point was women are strong, in general. It's the question if they have to use it or not.
It’s cause she doesn’t give a shit about anything
I know it's partially to cover the scar but honestly the new hair is pretty awesome.
It is! Makes her look like a cool, bad-ass cyber-punk hacker. Would hire for my team, no question!
I agree!
Jesus can give you eternal life. These Bible verses explain how you can have eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 3:23, 3:10, 5:12, 6:23, 5:8-9, 10:9-10, 10:13, 10:17, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Peter 3:9-10). :)
Could probably get away with doing an undercut on that entire side of her head
@mal doran
needs more neon-colour! :D
"and I started to flip people off..... And these people are moving so slow!" Is essentially my mom's driving in a nutshell.

Ps. Muchísimas gracias por tu trabajo en RUclips, tus videos me han ayudado tanto. Saludos desde 🇺🇸
damn that scar looks so badass! dont give up!
*im so glad you’re doing well Simone!*
Duck Landes that's incredible! Keep up the good work champ!
wow! that's incredible. thanks for sharing.
Duck Landes Can you play "Insane in the brain" by Cypress Hill? with your guitar?
cool story bro. seems ur back up to good.
Duck, incredible. Just shows the fight in the human spirit is huge!
Good for you, against the odds your a successful man today!
Sending positive vibes your way.

Coming from a family full of nurses, PAs, and a doctor, I can tell you that if nurses only had to deal with farts they would be happy campers.
Please tell me a story
@Sea Em stated by someone who feels inferior and threatened.
@@championsteam522
Two words: C. diff.
Don't even have to tell a story there, because certainly _everyone_ of us from YANTONC (Ye Ancient & Noble Tribe Of Nursing & Caring) has first-hand experience (and gruesome events to remember).
Don't forget P. Aeruginosa. It makes pretty colors and smells "great" aswell :D
That was a stupid reply. You were asked that question by a non nurse then said you won’t tell a story because other people here know? That’s, stupid...
I'm so glad you were ok. The "pee hole fart" anecdote nearly killed me!! i STILL HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES! Much love
true, it is such a good comfort to have
So glad to see this notification :)

GLAD EVERYTHING WENT WELL :-) hope you have a swift recovery!
My brother has an acoustic neuroma and they used a gamma knife on him...still has the tumour though.
@@morgancalvi6675 I hope that there can be progress in time with the gamma knife surgery. It took almost 8 months for the surgery to show serious progress on the malformation in my brain. Brain conditions are a long and scary road. I hope the best for you and your family.
@@nathanielspringer8592 yeah, I wonder why that is 🤔. My foster brother has an acoustic neuroma and not sure the gamma knife worked on him either.
So glad to know you are ok. Been missing your videos a lot and that means that, even for brief entertainment periods, you've become a part of all of my daily life and it makes me (and probably all of your subscribers) happy to see you back.
She says she's still herself, but well have to wait and see if she starts making robots that actually work
Qthedude16 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Wish you a good recovery

500th hug!😀
Congrats on not dying and also for your first video back to be 9 minutes long just like a professional RUclipsr.
ViloniousTV she did good not dying, I’m really proud of her. #TumorHumor
Yay she's finally going pro on this shiz hehe

Welcome back dear, strong Simone!! We heard yesterday we are cancer free and i still have trouble believing its actually gone and over. We have one more surgery to go. We are so glad you are okay!! You talked about being the same person afterwards and as someone with DID (multiple personality disorder, check out my channel if you wanna know more about DID) this is something we've also wondered ourselves. It has affected all of our alters. But like you said in the end it's going to be for the better!! Welcome back! 💜💜💜
Cancer is never over, change your lifestyle to defend against remission.
I think you mean recurrence. Remission is a good thing; you shouldn't be defending against it!
I’m so happy to know you’re ok!
Are you some wierd brain surgery fanatics?
I love your outlook. Glad you're well!
Hope you’re doing well now! Best wishes.
Hope your feeling better now
@Ana-ez2by I am alive. It has been a long, hard few years trying to get used to my new self.
Stronger you have become, power I sense in you.
Yoda favorite anime?
You probably had many similar messages already, but I'll still say it. I'm happy to hear you are doing well. Good people are hard to find, so take care of yourself.
You have titanium mesh? So you’re now a cyborg :) glad you’re recovering, promise to use your new powers of ‘small amount of metal in head’ for good
She's gone from building robots to becoming one! Kind of.
123 456 Oh right. Now she's a metal head 😏🤘 Don't know if she was before.
Next invention: I Build a Badass Magnet Hat for my Head
She builds really dangerous robots; had traumatic experience; now have a badass scar and titanium implants... There is a lot of super villain material.
Well, in face of the facts must recognize that resistance is futile, and I, for one, welcome our Queen of Robotics Overlady.
I happened to click on this one a few days after my partner spontaneously dumped me and kicked me out of our apartment. I feel like I lost everything, and this put it in perspective. What you said at the end just got me so good. Thank you for existing.
I am so glad everything went well for you Simone ! You’re an awesome person !

lol
Nicole St. Louis yup now all of her projects are going to work.
Can you imagine? Simone: "I want to make a robot that tries to do my makeup with paintballs."
Two hours later
Simone: "Shit. Accidentally cured Zika Virus."
I was about to type the same thing then i saw this
OK, simpler then, how about a robot that changes a light bulb, DAMMIT, HOW DID I CREATE COLD FUSION!?!?
It is super good to see you hale and hearty.
I suggest the title for your documentary be someing like "The life and death of Brian (the brain tumor)."
my mom is going in for the kind of surgery tomorrow, a grade 1 meningioma removal behind her left eye. this video gives me so much hope
How is your mom doing? I hope she’s okay.
@@amykathleen2 Thank you for asking! she's doing great! they got 99% of the tumor out and as of right now there is no sign of regrowth. Shes back to work full time already. Brain surgery is crazy because they're not really damaging any muscle, so my mom was up and walking around less than 12 hours later. Recovery time was relatively quick at around 2 months, but shes back to her usual self! A million thanks to her doctor and all the nurses who took care of her
@@MJW173 I am so glad to hear that! Even though she is a complete stranger to me, there is so much bad news out there that I am sincerely delighted that her news is good.
@@MJW173do u mind telling your mom's age? Pls
@@d2227k yeah! she just turned 60 this year. She was 59 when she was diagnosed and after all was said and done, we threw her a huge 60th birthday party! I'm pretty sure Simone was in her mid to late 20's when she had the procedure so its great to see that people of all ages have such great success!
I know a surgeon named Dr. Cutting. No joke. I glad that you're doing well!
My previous doctor was named Dr. Risk. That was comforting..!
Jim Dooley I know a German doctor called Dr. Christian Kunts. He uses a different surname when he is working.
Just hope you never have to see Dr. Yourefucked.
I know one named Glascock, and they pronounce it Glass Cock. They totally could go with Glaze coke, or something foreign sounding, _but no..._
IN Austin, TX there is a doctor named Dick Chop: and yes he is a urologist.
Welcome back! :D
Hey! Yeah.
