Great advice from someone who clearly knows what they're doing - not always expected in RUclips instructional videos. As you said, there are some poor installations out there, managed to get my network speeds from 100Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s just by revising poorly done jack points as per your demonstration. Many thanks!!
Hey pantslizard love you tag name............if your smart get the bucket with the cushion lid it will fill better at the end of the day. Have a good night Ron
Nice video, thank you for it! Just had one question if you have a second. I'm about to get this job which requires my having knowledge of terminating network jacks, patch panels, 66 or 110 blocks and testing/troubleshooting cable networking issues. What equipment will I need to do all this and would you possibly have some recommendations as to where to get all the info I need for this job?
Navid Nilchian I tell most guys for $400-500 you can get most of the tpools and testers you will need. A local supply house like Graybar would have them. You can also check Lowes and HD. If you don't know who BICSI is you might check them out they are a leading industry organization you can go to for training. Of course you might check out more of my videos. There is probably a video or two that can help you out. Good Luck!Ron
Rip cord is in all this cable and is used to strip and remove long lengths of the outer jack. So for short lengths like the 2-3 inches in the video I just cut it out when installing the connector. Take care Ron
Ron Kipper Datacomm Thank you for your response Ron. I know how busy one can get. I was taught to use the rip cord to cut the jacket past where I scored the jacket in case I accidentally nicked the cable. I've seen it happen with both snips and strippers.
Thank you so much for this video. I wish I would have known a few of your tricks early on in my career.

Why did you discard the rip cord and not use it for it's intended purpose?
