I've noticed these days that builders, whether it be of vans, apartments, or single family homes skimp and go cheap on materials and labor. I have a beautifully designed apartment but the cheap quality of materials and carpentry errors (i.e., door frame and kitchen island misalignment) are ridiculous. It's a money grab. Glad you're learning new things and know what to do for next time. This is your first run and we're all proud of what you've accomplished. Next time will be even better 🙂
I love your videos, and you. I am a 71 year young female who self built my van 4 years ago. FYI no matter who builds the van SCREWS COME LOOSE FROM VIBRATION, so always make it a regular thing to check your home for this. I do it monthly.
I was just wondering what happens if you tried to use locknut screws with that those should not listen with vibration I’m in a wheelchair and I’m a pretty hard fuser my chair. Mom is very very very seldom. Do I find a screw that’s loose and I always make sure they have a lock nut on them. Maybe that’s a suggestion for yourself and for any other RV family
@@paulabarton9493 when building in a van you don't always have access to the back of the screw or bolt, it would help in some instances but not always. Great thought thou.
I agree even special built, things WILL happen. You might have more problems. That's why they have warranties. You said hyou have bumper to bumper coverage.
Sometimes the excitement prevents you from doing your due diligence. When I bought my first home all I could see were the beautiful big windows and the light shining in just right. Ten years later I’m still finding things that I should’ve noticed when I bought the house. Give yourself some grace. It’s not the things that make the world go round it’s the relationships with the people that are really important.
She has got me wanting Chick-fil-A and I was gonna order it and then you had a bust my bubble just joking that they were closed on Sunday which I forgot all about which I do respect greatly. I think more places need to do that but that’s just my beliefs and I’m not gonna push it on anyone else. You can still have problems with a custom build…choose the custom builder wisely & research a lot. What they use for insulation, batteries, inverters, hush mat, etc. Also, it is good to have this as your first Van and learn what you like & don’t like and then your custom build will be easier to specialize for your needs.
I was coming here to make this comment. As annoying as all the problems are, owning a van like this will make you so clear and specific about what you want in a custom build.
And a custom build generally won’t have a warranty where you can keep going back to get things fixed for free. Or if they will fix things it’s going to be quite impossible to schedule with one person, they’re not a huge dealer you can just roll into and get serviced. A dealer is always better in the end because you can hold them accountable/contact them
Also, in order to be insured the custom van build needs to be certified (may have different terminology depending on what state you are in). Best to check with your insurance company to see what they require.
That's what made me hesitate a few years ago when I learned it & that's why channels/pages like this with honest info are so important @@bevn362 My sister was thinking about a tiny home a couple months ago out of the blue so I told her about how tricky insurance is.She immediately said no🤭 I've been researching/planning for 5 years but I really don't like all the rules just to live in a vehicle.

I'm someone.I know to check and/or take an expert with you but I honestly thought vehicles manufactured for living had certain mandatory guidelines.The things she showed us in this video are what you'd expect from somebody off the street customizing it for you.That board was obviously.jalf a**ed but they didn't even try to hide it.I'm guessing the huge gaps in the fan would make trying to heat a vehicle even harder.

This is so helpful! My husband is retiring in a couple of years & we really want to get a van to roam around before we get too old to do it. So many van life channels want you to believe everything is sunshine & rainbows 24/7 & it just can't be, we don't live in that world, lol.

As to a van builder customizing your van,we live and we learn more from our regrets than anything. Nobody’s building anything worth anything anymore. I’m sure some folks look sideways at my 1970s ranch but the building codes were good back then & it’s needed maintenance because of its age but it’s built well. I love Chic Fil A. Their customer service is legendary.
yes that's my go to when I go there...Polynesian sauce is sooo good....I grew up on Chick Fil-A.... definitely get the fries...they are really good with the Polynesian sauce as well
Sis, welcome to the Chick-fil-A Train!!! I’ve eaten it twice this past week. I get the grilled nuggets, the kale superfood side salad, the grilled chicken sandwich or the Cobb salad with grilled fillets. They have a Lite Italian dressing that’s only 25 calories. Love it! Btw, I can’t count the amount of my visits to them & I’ve never, not once, encountered a rude worker. They are SO professional. It’s absolutely refreshing!! I couldn’t take my bite today, though because I was eating a salad from Schlotzsky’s. If you have one, you have to try that, as well!! Thanks for keeping me company during my meal!! 😊 Blessings!!
Been RVer for over 10 years we've had 4 different RVs you gave some good advice on what to look for also some manufacturers are better than others but even then you can get one that comes with problems. Stay safe and warm ❣️
It is tough to make something 'residential' endure the wear and tear of driving around in it but still be affordable. An RV has all the problems one can have in a vehicle PLUS all the problems one can have in a home.
Why so many in such a short amount of time? My family used to rv & I had some friends who were nomads but that was a long time ago when things lasted.I expected maintenance but the more I dig the more I see it's actually not easier or cheaper to live in a vehicle.

You're right. Next you should look into a custom build. Nothing is made to last forever anymore. Thier products are not made for long-term living. They may get you through a few years of weekends or a two week vacations. It's all about you returning for one thing or another.♥️♥️♥️

I've been going to Chick Fil A since I was 17hrs old and I'm in my 50s 🙂 It's good. And yes they're always friendly and helpful! Great milkshakes and waffle fries
That mirror should have been covered as you didn’t install it, they did. You should be able to drive the rv without it cracking! That should totally be covered.
Hey fam, look at this as a lesson learned. Nothing wrong with that at all. Vanlife is on 🔥 right now. Sell your van when you are ready. Just sell while it’s still in high demand. Everyone sees how well you take care of it. One thing I have found in my van search lately is that most of the quality builders have a 6 month to a year wait list for builds. You are doing amazing. Love the pure honesty. I am stuck on 2 builders. They both have excellent reviews. Have a blessed day.

Honestly, I think it's better to get your van through an RV park because at least you can get things under warranty and you will not be out a ton of money if you need things fixed or replaced. Getting a custom build means if something breaks or needs replacing you have to fix it yourself because they don't come with a warranty. Blessings,
A one year warranty is not a good thing either.Unless somebody is giving you a lifetime,bumper to bumper full coverage warranty you're still going to pay out of pocket.js
Always do a walk through before driving off with a new rv. That being said though, just because everything was perfect in the walk through keep in mind that an rv going down the road is like a rolling earthquake. Things will come lose and break, that's to be expected. There is a a chic-fil-a near me in Sterling Heights and its been there over 2 years and its still always so crazy busy that I haven't been able to try it.
Now I have to try that sandwich. I've never been there either lol I love how much you influence what I eat sometimes. You share such good food and I've loved everything I've tried lol
Okay, THIS was an OUTSTANDING video with the walk through of that other van. It is different when buying for the first time and actually living in an rv for a while, so you know exactly what to look for. I also think that with all the driving on the road and various surfaces will cause some screws to loosen over time. Experts who are building them should take that in consideration and I’m sure they do and use materials accordingly.
Chick-fil-a is the best. I love the grill nuggets, the deluxe chicken sandwich, and kale salad. And the Mac and cheese, hands down the best! You got to try the fries with the sauce too 🥰
This happen to me with my vehicle. I bought a newer car rushed for a road trip and the brakes turned into a nightmare! Then after I fixed them(only partial warranty) the mechanic forgot to glue one of the pads and how we avoided a bad accident is beyond me as we were pulling off a highway when it jolted and shook like crazy. My older vehicles never even did these things! YES take your time and look at everything!

Them salads at Chick fila are 🔥🔥🔥. Them crushed red peppers and tomatoes with that lime ranch dressing are a hit together. The lemonade used to he good until they changed the recipe

As soon as I heard you mention getting something fixed I was thinking "she sure does need a lot of repairs", but then you started talking about things you would have done differently. I'm glad you enjoyed your food. My favorite is the chicken nuggets with Chi fil a or Polynesian sauce and the salads are good too 😋 The wafer fries are okay but I've had better. Before you take delivery make the service tech do a walk through the entire rig. Checking out every drawer, cabinet, vent, fans, etc. I believe in extended warranties. But others may not.

Girl you should 100% get yourself a good drill set! Because that stuff rattles loose all the time! Especially yhings like your blinds…. Except it's just easier and less headache to not have to go back to the dealership everytime by having a drill and bit set to just go around once a week or so, and make sure everythings is tightened up from the weeks driving. Just a thought. The husband and I have always kept one in our car and in our trouble rig. For that reason. Sorry that sounded kind of aggressive. I promise I wasn't meaning for it to lol. And yes 100% always either by build or build it yourself! Then you know you're rigged intimately because you are a part of the building process. You know what needs more attention more often! And yeah, YOU get to CHOOSE your materials! Custom builds can be so beautiful and like someone's home for real! We love ours!
So glad you got your van fixed. I love Chick-Fil-A. I always get the number one combp which is the original sandwich, waffle fries and I always get lemonade to drink. They have a chargrilled sandwich which is also very good. It's a boneless, skinless filet on a whole grain bun. If you don't want the whole grain bun they will substitute with the regular bun. I've never had their mac and cheese but their cole slaw is very good.
Yes trade it in while it’s still new so you can get a good deal in customizing your own. Because one thing I noticed that you don’t use your water and that would be one of my main sources in my van is using where I water. Bathroom too!!

love love how you observed thoroughly in details because the little things will matter in the long run. when people dont know what to look for they can easily get taken of advantage. I learned from my dad yrs ago when i take my vehicle to the shop I always take a mechanic with me to do a test drive once its been worked on before I pay and I never ever have issues afterwards. I never take my vehicle to the mechanic shop without a mechanic because mechanic know what to listen and look for

I set my mind on this model when I first saw one of your videos so you are educating us on your issues with it and it is a brand new van that unfortunately is poorly made. I know there are exceptions, but if you look up others who have this model they are having issues also.

A PERMANENT home that is constantly moving needs to be built with the best materials (or pay more later). For those that can, try to a part of the van build. You can get expertise as you need MAKE sure you get the custom build on video so you can look back when making repairs and adjustments. As you travel and with weather, the build gets loose and you need to refresh the van after a year with new interior paint. This is why it is essential to be a PART of the build b/c so you can fix on the go or KNOW enough about your build to source out to people who will not rip you off. BUY QUALITY.

When you do decide to get a new home/van you should watch Travelers Tales. He did a custom job himself. The one thing I loved was his bed, it was one that lowered from the ceiling. It gave him more space. Love everything about your videos. You make me want to do the van life, (maybe one day)😊

Since I have been doing research between the two and I thought the same. For the cost at the RV dealer vs. Vanbuilders. It does seem like you have had lots of problems. I would be frustrated as well especially with the amount of money spent. Thanks for sharing your experience!
RV’s are generally built for their intended use - intermittent use a few times a year for a family to go camping, not full time living and traveling. They will fall apart under that stress. That’s why it’s only $21k. A comparative custom built durable rig is so much more than that.

Sis, welcome to the Chick-fil-A Train!!! I’ve eaten it twice this past week. I get the grilled nuggets, the kale superfood side salad, the grilled chicken sandwich or the Cobb salad with grilled fillets. They have a Lite Italian dressing that’s only 25 calories. Love it! Btw, I can’t count the amount of my visits to them & I’ve never, not once, encountered a rude worker. They are SO professional. It’s absolutely refreshing!!
I couldn’t take my bite today, though because I was eating a salad from Schlotzsky’s. If you have one, you have to try that, as well!! Thanks for keeping me company during my meal!! 😊 Blessings!!

Been RVer for over 10 years we've had 4 different RVs you gave some good advice on what to look for also some manufacturers are better than others but even then you can get one that comes with problems. Stay safe and warm ❣️
It is tough to make something 'residential' endure the wear and tear of driving around in it but still be affordable. An RV has all the problems one can have in a vehicle PLUS all the problems one can have in a home.
Why so many in such a short amount of time? My family used to rv & I had some friends who were nomads but that was a long time ago when things lasted.I expected maintenance but the more I dig the more I see it's actually not easier or cheaper to live in a vehicle.

You're right. Next you should look into a custom build. Nothing is made to last forever anymore. Thier products are not made for long-term living. They may get you through a few years of weekends or a two week vacations. It's all about you returning for one thing or another.♥️♥️♥️

Hey fam, look at this as a lesson learned. Nothing wrong with that at all. Vanlife is on 🔥 right now. Sell your van when you are ready. Just sell while it’s still in high demand. Everyone sees how well you take care of it. One thing I have found in my van search lately is that most of the quality builders have a 6 month to a year wait list for builds. You are doing amazing. Love the pure honesty. I am stuck on 2 builders. They both have excellent reviews. Have a blessed day.

Honestly, I think it's better to get your van through an RV park because at least you can get things under warranty and you will not be out a ton of money if you need things fixed or replaced. Getting a custom build means if something breaks or needs replacing you have to fix it yourself because they don't come with a warranty. Blessings,

Always do a walk through before driving off with a new rv. That being said though, just because everything was perfect in the walk through keep in mind that an rv going down the road is like a rolling earthquake. Things will come lose and break, that's to be expected.
There is a a chic-fil-a near me in Sterling Heights and its been there over 2 years and its still always so crazy busy that I haven't been able to try it.
Now I have to try that sandwich. I've never been there either lol I love how much you influence what I eat sometimes. You share such good food and I've loved everything I've tried lol
Okay, THIS was an OUTSTANDING video with the walk through of that other van. It is different when buying for the first time and actually living in an rv for a while, so you know exactly what to look for.

I also think that with all the driving on the road and various surfaces will cause some screws to loosen over time. Experts who are building them should take that in consideration and I’m sure they do and use materials accordingly.
Chick-fil-a is the best. I love the grill nuggets, the deluxe chicken sandwich, and kale salad. And the Mac and cheese, hands down the best! You got to try the fries with the sauce too 🥰
This happen to me with my vehicle. I bought a newer car rushed for a road trip and the brakes turned into a nightmare! Then after I fixed them(only partial warranty) the mechanic forgot to glue one of the pads and how we avoided a bad accident is beyond me as we were pulling off a highway when it jolted and shook like crazy. My older vehicles never even did these things! YES take your time and look at everything!

Them salads at Chick fila are 🔥🔥🔥. Them crushed red peppers and tomatoes with that lime ranch dressing are a hit together. The lemonade used to he good until they changed the recipe

As soon as I heard you mention getting something fixed I was thinking "she sure does need a lot of repairs", but then you started talking about things you would have done differently. I'm glad you enjoyed your food. My favorite is the chicken nuggets with Chi fil a or Polynesian sauce and the salads are good too 😋 The wafer fries are okay but I've had better. Before you take delivery make the service tech do a walk through the entire rig. Checking out every drawer, cabinet, vent, fans, etc. I believe in extended warranties. But others may not.

Because that stuff rattles loose all the time! Especially yhings like your blinds…. Except it's just easier and less headache to not have to go back to the dealership everytime by having a drill and bit set to just go around once a week or so, and make sure everythings is tightened up from the weeks driving.
Just a thought. The husband and I have always kept one in our car and in our trouble rig. For that reason.

So glad you got your van fixed. I love Chick-Fil-A. I always get the number one combp which is the original sandwich, waffle fries and I always get lemonade to drink. They have a chargrilled sandwich which is also very good. It's a boneless, skinless filet on a whole grain bun. If you don't want the whole grain bun they will substitute with the regular bun. I've never had their mac and cheese but their cole slaw is very good.

Yes trade it in while it’s still new so you can get a good deal in customizing your own. Because one thing I noticed that you don’t use your water and that would be one of my main sources in my van is using where I water. Bathroom too!!

love love how you observed thoroughly in details because the little things will matter in the long run. when people dont know what to look for they can easily get taken of advantage. I learned from my dad yrs ago when i take my vehicle to the shop I always take a mechanic with me to do a test drive once its been worked on before I pay and I never ever have issues afterwards. I never take my vehicle to the mechanic shop without a mechanic because mechanic know what to listen and look for

A PERMANENT home that is constantly moving needs to be built with the best materials (or pay more later). For those that can, try to a part of the van build. You can get expertise as you need MAKE sure you get the custom build on video so you can look back when making repairs and adjustments. As you travel and with weather, the build gets loose and you need to refresh the van after a year with new interior paint. This is why it is essential to be a PART of the build b/c so you can fix on the go or KNOW enough about your build to source out to people who will not rip you off. BUY QUALITY.

When you do decide to get a new home/van you should watch Travelers Tales. He did a custom job himself. The one thing I loved was his bed, it was one that lowered from the ceiling. It gave him more space. Love everything about your videos. You make me want to do the van life, (maybe one day)😊

RV’s are generally built for their intended use - intermittent use a few times a year for a family to go camping, not full time living and traveling. They will fall apart under that stress. That’s why it’s only $21k. A comparative custom built durable rig is so much more than that.
