Then, call the hotel directly, tell them when you are going to be there and then ask them “What is your lowest and best rate for a long term stay?” Also ask them about military/vet discounts and anything else you might qualify for.

My only Suggestion is, if you go with the 7 gallon tank, make sure you have something smaller on hand like a Tea kettle so can heat up the water to use, in case your entire 7 gal of Water freezes.. remember, water expands when it Freezes leave room in the Water bottle to allow expansion. One thing if you know it's gonna freeze, turn your pump off, and open the Tap, to drain the water back into the Tank.. leave the tap open allowing to expand through the pipe, rather than bursting it...

Please don't try and put that water dispenser on your cutting board. When it's full it will weigh 60 to 70 pounds. Probably snap the cutting board off like it was nothing. Besides which, you don't want to have to lift it up and down in order to use it. Find an elevated permanent place for it where you can use a cargo strap to keep it in place. I'm thinking the shower space (maybe a small nightstand to set it on?), with a boot mat on the floor to catch any drips or spills so nothing goes down the drain. Stay warm.

I'm so glad you listened to your body and decided to add meat back into your diet. Meat is a very dense source of nutrition, and very few people are able to thrive without it. Veganism requires careful attention to supplementing lacking nutrients, and ovo-lacto vegetarianism can still be problematic for those who have issues with inflammation. Veganism/vegetarianism is something people need to be very committed to as an ethical choice because it isn't necessarily the best choice for personal health. On the other side of the coin, those who eat only meat get all of the nutrients they need without having to supplement, which from an evolutionary and physiological point of view, eating meat makes sense.

    1. My sons girlfriend was vegan for 3-4 years and had eczema. She recently discovered that the cause was the proteins in vegan foods. She now eats chicken and fish and her skin cleared up. 👍🏻
    2. I think the reason your grey tank smells is partly because you don’t empty it enough.

    • @CoCo-yv3hl

    • @app103

@@CoCo-yv3hl It's a mix of pine sol and calgon bath beads. You mix up a jug of it and keep it under your sink, then every time you empty your gray water, you dump a cup full down your sink, along with a few gallons of water. Suggestion for your winter gray water from toothbrushing, etc. Get an empty laundry soap jug and a funnel. Use that to spit your toothpaste into, so you don’t have to be hanging out the door when it’s super cold out. Rinse the funnel into the jug, and cap the jug between uses. Put in some dishwashing liquid and water like you did in your gray tank and it shouldn’t smell. When you need to then you can just empty it into a sink or toilet.

For the skin irritation, consider you've really 8ncreased spice and tomatoes. That can cause a mild skin irritation until your body adjusts. Also winter brings dryness to your skin causing irritation. Get a bottle or tub of a really good moisturizer. Also, you might consider a m8crofiber bath towell, much less bulky & dries fast and doesn't get musty smelling between uses. It's also super absorbent.

I have refrained from commenting thus far but since you are still having grey tank smell then maybe consider these contributors:
Pouring liquid (hot) or otherwise down your drain ie.
    Fishy products
    Pasta or a starchy foods
Strong smelling water from veggies/mushrooms etc.
Collect it as you would grease from bacon/sausage and wait for it to cool, pour into an old ziplock bag or empty pasta sauce bottle and discard in the trash. Keep your grey tank as pristine as possible. You still need to treat it though. But i fear for your plumbing with the hot liquids that are disposed of in your drain. Even in a house I was always taught to turn the cold water on to dilute the heat and save the plumbing.
    Good luck!

    Hi
I stay in a hotel 2 days a month I use this for a change of pace and to prep my food in portion sizes. Before I leave my food is frozen using hotel power. I also chop veggies especially onions to cook later I also keep a tight container with fresh onion and peppers. I make soup and freeze it the last time I sliced potatoes and had some good old fashioned home fries with onions what was left over I ate on the road later. I season my meat when i prep it this also gets rid of the packaging before I start on the road again. Ihave been saving the directions to things in a zip lock bag which saves space.
I also cut up my beef myself because they charge more for the convenience of having it cut into cubes. I get large packages of my favorite beef or turkey sausages and break them down into portions.
When I go inti a hotel I load all of my things on a dolley and take to my room everything that needs to be charged I do it in the hotel room even my portable solar panels, Jackerys and power banks this saves my things to use on the road. I love Ice so any remaining space in the freezer I use by filling zip lock bags of ice from the hotel. I also put some in the fridge it helps to keep things cold but really the ice is for me to eat. I also freeze bottles of water. I keep some in front for cold water to drink in a small cooler they last for days. Whats left go in the fridge or freezer they are 16oz and 8oz bottles.
Thats how I make my hotel stay a plus. In bad weather I have also used a campground with hookups or gone to a hotel especially in very hot weather.

Hey there NI. A couple of thoughts/info:
In the late 1970s, I bought a used small travel trailer. Campground fees for water, sewer, electric, and cable TV (No internet then) were$50.00/month. I t was a cheap life style as I was getting ready for medical school. My area had record breaking low temps the first winter. Propane valve frozen shut a couple of nights. I used an electric blanket. I went to local hospital and slept in a waiting room. Water and sewer never froze. Sleeping in cold temperatures will interrupt sleep cycle and keep you freaking exhausted. Get the van temperature up to 60ish at night or you will have interrupted non-restorative sleep. It is not good for you body to fight freezing temperatures.
1 other point: brown skinned women (and Appalachian women) are more prone to low Vitamin D-be sure you are getting 2000 iU/day in months when your body is mostly covered. The tip of your nose is the only thing exposed to the elements. Vit D is A great energy boost.
Keep having fun! Hope this helps.

I'm glad you decided,on your own, to add some meat to your diet. Protein and collagen is absolutely important for your skin, hair and nails...There's no getting around it...just don't decrease the veggies.

Love you videos and your journey with van life. I have recently moved to Michigan and the winter is already starting lol. In the past I would go across country with my fiance on his truck and we used thermal or insulated window covering to keep the cold out and the heat in. Life savers. Now I have thermal curtains which are also black out and they have saved so much with the heating.

Hi am so enjoying your channel! I wanted to make a suggestion. Try using better than beef bouillon. It’s like a concentrated paste. They have a variety of flavors. It adds taste and you can add water to make your broth as well. Just a suggestion. Plus you won’t need to add any salt. Game changer for me. Thanks again for your videos. It a pleasure sharing your journey.

Just a word of caution- each gallon of water weighs 8 pounds. A 7 gallon container will weigh 56 pounds. That’s a lot to be dealing with and hauling around. It might also be too heavy to set on your pull-out counter/cutting board. I’d suggest you don’t fill it up all the way each time- hope it all works out well for you. Take care - I love to watch your videos.

Yes, I also thought it would be too heavy for the cutting board when water was added.

You don’t need cutting boards for cooking.
Not using it isn’t the end of the world.
Paper plates are quick, convenient, and easy to simply dispose.

Don’t forget to get a thermal curtain of some kind to place between the front cab area, and the rest of the van. It will help insulate the interior against the coming cold nights.

You have had to learn a lot of stuff about taking care of your van! I think your idea about an Extended Stay hotel in the winter is a good one. I hope you see me smiling every time you offer me a bite of your food. 😀

I didn't eat meat for the first 27 years of my life. When i finally tried it, i tried bison first and felt full for i think the very first time lol. Honestly, i got sick if i ate too much meat for about a year on and off, but the health benefits and the way i felt full was totally worth it. Im not skinny anymore but i feel healthier than ever.

Here's an Auntie comment: Please consider consuming Vitamin C for the winter. Don't forget to apply your military discount if you stay at the hotel. This Auntie worries about you. Have a good evening.

To keep you warm without having to turn your van on; you can take your hair dryer and put it on a towel and turn it high hot and it will heat your van up .

Make sure the shop guy let's you watch winterizing. Your van should be easy. In the winter I use my black tank when needed and wash it down with a bit of camper antifreeze.

That stew looks great. I love sweet potatoes, i like to saute onion, sweet potato, and apples together as a side dish for roasted chicken or beef. The apple gives it a sweetness, then I just add whatever spices I have on hand, garlic, salt, pepper, adobo Sazon, curry powder etc.

Hi when thinking about saving space, I've started using beef and chicken bullion instead of the liquid. It doesn't need to be refrigerated and just 1 tsp in a cup of water gives you 1 cup of broth.
