Both Octopath Traveler games require listening to the full OSTs.
Now I can gladly say this little fun fact: The male singer for Those Who Deny the Dawn is the same singer who did God Shattering Star from Fire Emblem Three Houses, glad you enjoyed the soundtrack!

This is misinformation and is not the case. (Source: booklets that come with the physical CDs of both of these soundtracks and include full credits for every vocalist/instrumentalist). As similar as the vocalists are, and I think God-Shattering Star is a clear inspiration, they're not the same singer. Toshiaki Murakami is the singer in Vide the Wicked/Those Who Deny the Dawn, while the one in GSS is Takashi Baba. Hope this clears things up.

Octopath 2 is on of my favorite RPGs and has one of the best OSTs of a game i have played. I still regularly listen to it. Glad to see you check it out!
As an avid RPG enthusiast, I'm fully prepared to say Octopath Traveler 2 is a masterpiece, and that goes well beyond the soundtrack.

OT2 makes OT feel like a tech demo. And OT is the shit in and of itself.
Octopath Traveler 2 is quite literally a masterpiece. This game was made with so much love and passion on all fronts.
Song of Hope is arguably my favorite track on Octopath Traveler 2. It plays specifically for the last boss of the dancer’s story, and it’s actually her theme including vocals. I can never resist head bobbing to that.

Same! This and the sonic frontiers ost has been on repeat ever since the games released. Such a masterpiece in both game and music.
So yeah, Song of Hope is a battle theme. That's why the instrumentals are like that. Also, yeah... that final song is definitely a fan favorite for a reason.
Also, Ochette is my favorite, dont come after me...
Ochette has my all round favourite group of themes. So emotional, so uplifting and so flowy... I love all the themes, but Ochette takes the cake for me
Ochette is my favorite character for sure, but Partitio (my second favorite character) has the best theme IMO.

Octopath (specifically cotc shockingly) has some of the best OST even in my opinion

This and Persona are one of the few games I spend way too much time not playing because I'm just sitting, listening to the music.
100% octopath 2 and my only regret is i cant do it for the first time again, all of my time now is spent listening to this music. genuinely some of the best music ive ever heard
Octopath is a game series that really excels with leitmotifs. Listening to the progression in each characters themes is so fun! Every character has a normal theme, pre battle theme, and final boss theme.
For example we’ve got
“osvold the scholar” (normal theme)
“In pursuit of revenge” (pre-boss battle theme)
“The journey for revenge ends” (osvold final boss theme)
Those Who Deny the Dawn out here being one of the most amazing battle themes in gaming in a game full of some of the most amazing battle themes of all time.
I can't believe there hasn't been a single reaction to Professor Layton's ost on this channel!
Experiencing these songs with the characters, story, and visuals elevates them beyond words. They flow with the context of the game beautifully.
The OST so good I ended up humming along to it basically the whole way though. My throat was not ok after that 90+ hour experience. 😅

Have you ever considered doing playthroughs of the games you particularly love the soundtracks of? I would LOVE to see a playthrough of OT2 where you analyze the themes in context! (It's also such a huge coincidence but you keep reviewing OSTs when I'm hyperfixating on them, lol.)
I would definitely watch!! It would be cool for her to see how exactly the music is when it plays in game.
@@mstar51-cv5dq I always recommend finishing Partitio's route first because of the NPC that unlocks after, since he makes grinding a million times easier.

As one of the smaller-than-you’d-think crowd who defended Octopath 1 (unsuccessfully) from the 6/10 allegations, the fact that Octopath 2 is such a genuine masterpiece on all fronts made my heart soar. 2023 was such a magical year dude
EDIT: Look you heard the music Octopath 1 isn’t exactly bad, it’s just… a little grindy and barebones as a game. Rough sell for anyone who can’t stomach hard level gating

With octopath 1 they tried somthing new and while good it fell flat end game while still being a good game. octopath 2 however took everything bad and fixed it while taking the good and making it even better

I wish that you listen to Inscryption's ost, a rogue-lite card building game where you need to escape a cabin.

Glad to see Octopath getting the attention it deserves. It was my game of the year 2023^-^
Though I wonder:
Why was there not a single "(Night)" track in here?
One of the biggest mechanics in this game specificly is the controllable night and day cycle changing most themes between night and day (hence the "(Day)" in a lot of these chosen titles).
I know that the day themes are more popular but to just neglect the night themes feels so odd to me...unless it's a setup for an Octo-part 2 night theme boogaloo in which case, nevermind all that ("Beyond the Sands(Night)" was one my favorite "fullstop and listen" moment in this game).
Also on a sidenote that has nothing to do with the video, but the game:
Octopath 1 slander, feels the same to me as BotW or FE:3H slander after their sequels. I sorta get where it's coming from, but the games would not be here without their prequels and in my opinion that should be respected a lot more. Just because they aren't Retro yet, doesn't mean we shouldn't consider what they did right in their prime time. Octopath 1 has an incredible OST and HD-2D has hit the Square and just generally the RPG scene like a Draco Meteor.
It's insane to me that some people feel like it's a hottake to like Octopath Traveler 1, because it really should not be the case.
It's fine to not like a game for your own reasons but the slander coming from subjective reasoning is sooo toxic :P

@@babyjiren9676 I don't use Twitter and have heard and seen enough slander, so for what I know, yes there are people that dislike Octopath 1.
It's probably never that bad under OST related stuff, because the complains are more towards the gameplay, story and characters but I've definetly seen and heard some slander towards the game.
People vent on the internet and that's fine. I just wanted to emphasize on a sidenote some of the reasons why I disaggree with the Octopath 1 slander and if you never heard of any, that's honestly great^^
If only they make octopath as a tactical rpg ...then it would be perfect....

I hated the endgame grind in the first game too much to wanna play 2.
Octopath Traveler II has an infinitely more balanced endgame than I, and improved upon the first game in pretty much every aspect. I cannot recommend the second one enough.

@@TheNomad94for an RPG that is NOTHING my guy. Try 300+ for full completion of most Xenoblade games. Best gaming experience ever. I could have played those games for 9000 hours and not gotten bored.
YES YES YES, I love this game and this OST so much and the fact it didn't even get a nom for best score at the game awards is criminal. It's such a shame it went so underrepresented for how great it is.
I'm almost a little upset that Normal Battle 2 or 3 or fierce confrontation didnt get played since I love this game for its battle themes but I cant be theres so much excellent music in this game (that maybe could be explored in a part 2) (:
