Unleashed is one of the only games out there where I think there is not a SINGLE subpar track on the entire soundtrack. So much variety and yet every single one of them is incredible.
Also worth noting that the day and night versions of themes are actually entirely different songs, just similar vibes because they're all themes to different countries across the world of the game. So it's definitely worth listening to both the day and night versions of tracks.
I'm loving these reactions to soundtracks from different series. Sonic has undeniably some of the best themes in gaming, even if a game is terrible you can reliably bet the OST is going to be a banger.
Of all the Sonic games, Sonic Unleashed does the best job of conveying sonic's love for running around the place if that makes any sense. The sound clips for him used during the levels are the most happy sounding in any sonic title, especially the iconic "Here.. we.. go!" at the beginning of a level.
Sonic soundtracks are definitely historically pretty rock and metal heavy, but the series has some INSANE tone and genre range, both as a whole and in most individual games, and Unleashed is the greatest example of that range.
I now would have to disagree, I think Frontiers, Colors, and Generations all have a better soundtrack, but yes, Unleashed has the best gameplay/movement over all.
@@FreddyMannLiveFrontiers is debatable, Colors hell nah, Generations except for Time Eater theme and a few more the rest of the ost are just remixes of old songs
I think Sonic '06, in spite of its reputation, would absolutely blow your mind with its soundtrack. Radical Train (The Chase), VS. Character, Soleanna New City, and of course Solaris Phase 2 are highlights.
I think a video of just the Crush40 songs, with lyrics. EDIT: Nevermind. She mentioned copyright with Endless Possibilities, so I'm guessing Crush40's a nogo.
@@zanpakutoman4225 Endless Possibility is a weird one due to Jarett Redick. It’s not even on Spotify. Crush 40 would be fine though. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone have problems with any of their music.
You haven't even SCRAPED the surface of amazing sonic themes, I HIGHLY suggest some themes like: Knight of the Wind - Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic Frontiers (Literally any song from Frontiers) Live and Learn - Sonic Adventure 2 Reach for the Stars - Sonic Colors There are so many other songs I didn't mention but I just picked my top 4 suggestions.
For some context, all the stages in this game are based on a range of real world locations and the music often attempts to accurately depict that. The songs you reacted to depict Western Europe (Rooftop Run), USA (Skyscraper Scamper), Greece (Windmill Isle), China (Dragon Road) and Southeast Asia (Jungle Joyride). The Shamar song was the over-world theme for the region based on the Middle East.
Also the Super Sonic Vs Perfect Dark Gaia theme is essentially an orchestral cover of Endless Possibilities with some insanity mixed in, and it is indeed the final boss theme
Also i do just love the range of styles presented in this game - every theme is so clearly unique and there's reference to different cultures, different lead instruments, jazz here, funk there, generic 'epic' music for dark gaia - floored by this OST
My favourite part of 'curating' these videos so Emily's reactions are completely blind is definitely hearing a theme that i know she'll react to and not mention anything (maybe giving a red herring of my favourite of the bunch ) - That Scyscraper Scaper Reaction was EXACTLY what i was hoping for!
You did an excellent job picking some of the penultimate pieces that this game offers. Kudos! And Jungle Joyride is my ultimate favorite from this game as well! XD
The opening is incredible, It's a video and audio masterwork telling us a cut down version of sonic's story throughout the game and it's flawless in my eyes
"Opening" has such a wild ride because it's meant to be paired with a cinematic filled with heroic and villainous back and forth. You should watch the cutscene to put the music into its proper context. And in that last thirty seconds of horror is where the motivation is. The world saving becomes very literal. Something that would also have helped before hearing Vs Perfect Dark Gaia is hearing Endless Possibilities, the main vocal theme of Unleashed, because VsPDG is an intense and gorgeous orchestral version of a beautiful, catchy, hopeful, and upbeat vocal track. The best part is you can literally sing Endless Possibilites right alongside the final boss fight. And, well, you haven't lived the life of a Sonic fan if you haven't memorized the lyrics to the main theme.
You have to listen to more Sonic music, especially the vocal songs! Sonic has some of the best music in the videogame industry. It does whatever the hell it wants and it always turns out amazing
What I always seem to pick up on in terms of Sonic music is that even if the game isn't good, the music sure is good! These blind reactions are always a blast to watch too, keep it up! I do have a few suggestions of banger OSTs that you could possibly do next, lemme know if you want them.
I would personally like to hear a part two, but also see your reaction to the Frontiers OST. (By the way, 11:35 the instrument being muted is a Clarinet albeit more of a jazz styled one)
"I was not expecting this from a small blue hedgehog!" Yup, and now I think... Sonic Unleased needs a second video and many in the comments seem to agree... As for Jungle Joyride, this is actually the first time I've heard the song. All I can imagine is the scene being rainy in the jungle. The piano going down, to me at least, representing following water going down from a high place, whether as a small waterfall/stream hitting rocks or a single raindrop, having a journey down multiple leaves/foilage/plants as it makes it's way to the ground...
You're right! A big part of the iconography in the Jungle Joyride levels are waterfalls! In the day stage, you run through a bunch of ruins surrounded by a giant waterfall at the end of the level, and waterfalls act as obstacles in the night stage.
Yes, do a part 2. Adabat day, I'm not sure how many other people get this, but I think it's the most brilliant and terrifying theme of all. Perfect for its area. A terrifying, spiralling swamp jungle, being lost, going insane. A circle of uncaring mystery and madness.
This was one of my favourite games as a kid. The soundtrack is so good. Love the reaction! If you did do a part two I would suggest Windmill Isle (Day) and Empire City (Night)
The night themes are actually pretty different than day themes in Unleashed even in the same levels, so I would love for you to hear more of those! I would also like to see you listen to songs from any of the other games as well like Adventure, Adventure 2, Frontiers, Black Knight, etc! The musical history of these games is incredibly varied and impressive, it would be a shame for you to miss out on it!
Sonic Unleashed has an amazing OST. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Sonic Rush's OST and the new game Sonic Frontiers. Both of those tracks steal my heart away everytime.
Night time stage music is great... but 90% of the level you will hear the same battle theme for the Werehog... that theme is burned into my brain for the rest of my life
Fun fact about the game The basic goal of this game is you traveling around the world (not manually mind you) and trying to fix the damage that eggman did The locations and levels that you travel through in this game are based on real-life locations, you can tell that they really wanted to be ambitious with the soundtrack with that premise backing it For example skyscraper scamper is in a place in game called empire city which is based on new york And dragon road is in a place in game called Chun-nan and is based on china Jungle joyride in an in game place called Adabat which is south Asia inspired etc. Loved your reaction!
You have no idea what you’re in for. Sonic features debatably the best soundtracks in all of gaming. If you wanna hear some of the series best, I highly recommend checking out Sonic Frontiers’ soundtrack, especially the boss themes. That entire soundtrack is top tier and in my opinion should definitely have won ost of the year 2022. Unfortunately, it wasn’t even nominated in that category, which is a complete and utter crime. So I really hope you enjoy it.
This is just the beginning. Sonic games vary in their music. The classic games have a J-pop and New Jack Swing feel while games like Unleashed and the Adventure games have guitar based tunes.
Unleashed' OST is the reason I wanted to play this game in the first place and bamg! It's my favorite Sonic game of all time. I love your reaction to the tracks and I love your loving every second of it...but when you got to the Windmill Isle Night theme, I was like: I beg you to do a pt2 the daytime version of Windmill Isle is a great if I've ever had one and there's so much more - also, everything Shamar and Arid Sands is a gem! I can't possible ask for a pt2 of this hard enough!
Fun fact: Some of the devs actually took a trip to each of the locations during the development to get an accurate feel for the culture, so most of the songs are also fairly accurate to cultural music of each area.
interesting that you start off with Unleashed, now you have to give Frontiers ost a listen (don't worry you won't get content ID, including the vocal tracks, the official album is also on yt)
Sonic games have a great habit of having a lyrical rock and roll main theme, and rearranging it as an orchestral piece for the final fight. VS Perfect Dark Gaia is the rearrangement of "Endless Possibilities"
I’d have to recommend watching the Sonic Unleashed intro while listening to the music. It makes a lot more sense in the context of the epic battle cutscene the game opens up with. If you don’t want to, here’s a (albeit very badly explained recap): - The cutscene starts with shots of Dr. Eggman’s (main antagonist of the series) fleet of spaceships. - When the heroic music starts coming in, the shot pans to Sonic, who starts demolishing robots and breaking Eggman’s stuff (as Sonic does) - When the more ominous tones appear about halfway through, Eggman captures Sonic. - As the music gets more intense Eggman fires a giant weird energy beam into the earth, which cracks the planet’s crust and unleashes a giant primordial monster (this is what causes Sonic to turn into the Werehog at night during this game. The night themes are a lot more relaxed because the Werehog is focused way more focused on combat than speed, but there is a separate combat theme) - Eggman then ejects the now-Werehog Sonic from the ship to fall to the planet, where he’s saved from a terminal velocity impact by a weird green energy and the song fades off. (Yes, this the _opening cutscene_ to this game. As a side note, most modern Sonic games use a remix for the final part of their final boss stage, so you’ve already heard most of the themes in Endless Possibility in Super Sonic vs. Perfect Dark Gaia.
You definitely need to check out Windmill Isle Day. And really the whole rest of the soundtrack, and the series, lol! Sonic has the greatest body of music in the history of mankind. I'm not exaggerating. Every style of music you can imagine, while blending genre, and darn near inventing new genres. I'm about to turn 52 and I had never listened to Sonic music before two years ago.
fun fact about this game, they got the tokyo philharmonic orchestra to actually play a few songs from this game! chiefly, the main menu theme, the level complete themes, and probably others I'm forgetting. Bowling for soup also did the lyric song of the main game, Endless Possibilities as well!
POKEMON MASTERS ALERT POKEMON MASTERS ALERT NEW THEMES HAVE BEEN ADDED. Ok this is a weird one, the update happened this morning and it took me until now to find it cause the channel that usually uploads the tracks from the datamine didn't this time so I didn't realize more was added till I saw another channel who did upload the themes. Anyway there were only two new themes added this time. One is a piano arrangement for the subway bosses theme (very fun) and the other is an edgy remix of Paulo's theme (the main rival in PMEX, he has been going through a villain arc recently). Alright with this and last month's update you should have enough for a new video.
Undefeatable from Sonic Frontier >>>>> But also Monster Hunter music is a must listen, especially Malzeno's theme if we are talking most recent games territory.
ik this vid didn't get as many views as others, but i'd love a second part ! also, unleashed has levels and hubs, each having their own day and night themes, the hubs being set in lookalike locations from around the world, they're generally more chill and calm than the level themes. The sonic franchise is the most versatile in the gaming industry in terms of music genre, going from metalcore, to rap, to edm, hiphop sampling, lo-fi, new jack swing, 90's house. Here are some recommendations that are different in terms of style from unleashed : Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic R Sonic Frontiers Sonic CD (jpn) Sonic Rush Sonic Mania Sonic And The Secret Ring Hope this've been helpfull ! (sorry for the novel i just wrote lmao)
And the gamelan in the back, in Adabat night. Gamelan, beautiful thing. Least, I think it is. I think there's a bunch of similar instruments to it apparently, and I don't know much about different instruments, I just got introduced to gamelan and started listening to gamelan music mixes after being introduced to it in monster hunter.
So, a little bit of context for the themes. Unleashed has 9 main stages; Windmill Isle, Rooftop Run, Savannah Citadel, Dragon Road, Cool Edge, Arid Sands, Skyscraper Scamper, Jungle Joyride and Crimson Carnival. Each stage is set in a semi-explorable city/area; Apatos for Windmill Isle (based on coastal Greece), Spagonia for Rooftop Run (Homogenized Europe, focused on Spain), Mazuri for Savannah Citadel (rural/traditional Africa), Chun-Nan for Dragon Road (rural China), Holoska for Cool Edge (Arctic circle, focused on Northern Native Americans), Shamar for Arid Sands (Middle-East), Adabat for Jungle Joyride (Hawaii), Empire City for Skyscraper Scamper (New York City), and Eggmanland for Crimson Carnival. Each city, except Eggmanland, has three unique themes; Action Stage - Day, Action Stage - Night, and City (which has day and night mixes). Eggmanland only has one action stage theme and it's City theme (which doesn't have day/night mixes). IMO, Unleashed has one of the greatest soundtracks in video game history. It is incredibly high quality work, and is by far the most varied game soundtracks I've ever heard personally. It really is an experience. I'd personally suggest a second part, if only to cover one of the themes from the cities you didn't here, but I'd also recommend listening to the rest on your own time.
I love the music, especially Endless Possibilities/ Super Sonic vs. Dark Gaia sense its more or less the same music without the vocals regardless i love it so much it feels so inspiring it makes me feel like i can do anything
I know I'm a month late, I just wanted to say even though Modern Sonic is known for Rock style music the series has a wide variety of genres. The series has done just about every big name genre so it's got quite the variety. I'd love to see you check out more music from the series and Unleashed; it's sad that you weren't able to listen to Endless Possibility. At least most of the other vocal themes in the series are pretty safe on copyright as far as I'm aware.
4:33 I know this video was publish a year ago at the time of writing this, but if you havent seen the opening cutscene to this game i HIGHLY recommended it, its literally a short film of its own its so good.
I'd say you should definitely react to more Sonic soundtracks (06, Frontiers, Colours, Forces), especially some of the themes from those games (His World, I'm Here, Undefetable, Break Through It All, Find Your Flame, Reach for the Stars, Fist Bump and Infinite). The Sonic soundtracks never disappoint!!
I'll tell you this, the battle against Dark Gaia in the version of XBox 360 and PS3 is more cinematic than anything, in the version of Wii and PS2 the whole battle is splitted in 3 parts and is more dynamic.
It's alto flute... 05. Windmill Isle - Day Music by Tomoya Ohtani Electric Bass: Ichiro Fujiya Acoustic Guitars: Chewtaro Moritake 1st Violin: Masatsugu Shinozaki 2nd Violin: Yasunao Ishida 3rd Violin: Kiyo Kido Accordion: Yoshiaki Sato Recorded & Mixed by Yoshitada Miya at Sega Digital Studio, Tokyo
Sonic music rarely misses! Glad that you enjoyed the music from Unleashed, a part 2 would be awesome since there are so many more songs in that game that are amazing!
I really just need her to hear the Sonic Frontiers ost. It's so diverse and everything is amazing. When she covers it, i hope she gets a few island movements too ! Kronos m4 and Ouranos are some of my favorite... The Titan themes are madatory of course, but let's not forget Fishing Vibes and the minigams themes ! And with Cyberspace... just, gosh. How do you condense this ost ?
You may not have been able to do Endless Possibility, but, as luck would have it, the last song you listened to, Super Sonic VS Perfect Dark Gaia is actually an instrumental arrangement of it.
As a HUGE Sonic fan I really hope you listen to more Sonic music in the future, there's sort of a saying that no matter how disappointing or bad a game might be, the soundtrack ALWAYS slaps and it's totally true. Because of that though there's sooooo many Sonic games with incredible OSTs, so maybe you could do a video of just a mish-mash of various Sonic songs rather than one game at a time? Also Sonic has a LOT of themes with lyrics which are usually the more well-known and beloved songs - I'm not sure if you really react to songs with lyrics so I won't recommend anything here, but it would be cool to see! Totally up to though of course :]
I adore unleashed 💖💖💖 also, for that opening, wish you could have seen the opening cutscene too on your own free time.

"I sure hope there are no jazz bands around the corner"
I would absolutely love a Part 2, there are still lovely music to discover in this game ❤
Undefeatable from Sonic Frontier >>>>>
But also Monster Hunter music is a must listen, especially Malzeno's theme if we are talking most recent games territory.
ik this vid didn't get as many views as others, but i'd love a second part ! also, unleashed has levels and hubs, each having their own day and night themes, the hubs being set in lookalike locations from around the world, they're generally more chill and calm than the level themes.
The sonic franchise is the most versatile in the gaming industry in terms of music genre, going from metalcore, to rap, to edm, hiphop sampling, lo-fi, new jack swing, 90's house.
Here are some recommendations that are different in terms of style from unleashed :
Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic R
Sonic Frontiers
Sonic CD (jpn)
Sonic Rush
Sonic Mania
Sonic And The Secret Ring
Hope this've been helpfull !
(sorry for the novel i just wrote lmao)
My personal favorite soundtracks is Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 and Sonic 06 if you ever want to listen to more!!!
And the gamelan in the back, in Adabat night. Gamelan, beautiful thing. Least, I think it is. I think there's a bunch of similar instruments to it apparently, and I don't know much about different instruments, I just got introduced to gamelan and started listening to gamelan music mixes after being introduced to it in monster hunter.
if there is something sonic games never miss is in its music c:
I love these reactions to other series! Nintendo games in particular have SUCH good soundtracks. Metroid, Fire Emblem, Earthbound...you name it.
I think Adabat is meant to be more Asia than Hawaii, like Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia.
The fact she's super jamming to the songs is plain awesome!!
I love the music, especially Endless Possibilities/ Super Sonic vs. Dark Gaia sense its more or less the same music without the vocals regardless i love it so much it feels so inspiring it makes me feel like i can do anything
21:26 is my favorite part and you reacted just how I do when I hear it 😂
Sega was in love with the French Horn during this period. Sonic Riders Zero Gravity also used it for "Mobius Strip".
Yessss some unleashed ost acknowledgment! I need a part 2
Personally I like the Shamar (Day) version more ^^
Still disappointed that you didn't listen to Kirby and the Forgotten Land's final boss theme.
You should totally react to Sonic frontiers boss themes, I mean the game's soundtrack in general is good but the boss ones are just peak music
You should definitely watch the opening cinematic, it's like a minifilm and it's a literal storytelling masterpiece.
4:33 I know this video was publish a year ago at the time of writing this, but if you havent seen the opening cutscene to this game i HIGHLY recommended it, its literally a short film of its own its so good.
“Absolute cinema” is genuinely the best description of that opening
I'd say you should definitely react to more Sonic soundtracks (06, Frontiers, Colours, Forces), especially some of the themes from those games (His World, I'm Here, Undefetable, Break Through It All, Find Your Flame, Reach for the Stars, Fist Bump and Infinite). The Sonic soundtracks never disappoint!!
This whole game's OST is top tier Sonic soundtrack n_n'
please do a part 2 to this. this game has INCREDIBLE music
Yo, get that part 2 going, this whole soundtrack be GOATED!!
The only Sonic game to have music that made me cry let's go for that part 2 lmao
This in my opinion is legit the second best Sonic ost, right behind Sonic CD jp.
I'll tell you this, the battle against Dark Gaia in the version of XBox 360 and PS3 is more cinematic than anything, in the version of Wii and PS2 the whole battle is splitted in 3 parts and is more dynamic.
Sonic Unleashed was one of the first Sonic games I played as a kid, so rehearing this ost is so nostalgic!
It's alto flute...
05. Windmill Isle - Day

2nd Violin: Yasunao Ishida
3rd Violin: Kiyo Kido

A part 2 focused on the town themes would be really cool
Sonic music rarely misses! Glad that you enjoyed the music from Unleashed, a part 2 would be awesome since there are so many more songs in that game that are amazing!
PLEASE REACT TO SONIC MANIA SOUNDTRACK ITS SO GOOD
23:56 That was from the Boss Fight Night theme
I really just need her to hear the Sonic Frontiers ost.
It's so diverse and everything is amazing.
When she covers it, i hope she gets a few island movements too ! Kronos m4 and Ouranos are some of my favorite...
The Titan themes are madatory of course, but let's not forget Fishing Vibes and the minigams themes ! And with Cyberspace... just, gosh. How do you condense this ost ?
Super Sonic vs Perfect Dark Gaia is a endless possibilities remix
How about reacting to the Sonic Frontiers Boss themes? They're incredible XD
You may not have been able to do Endless Possibility, but, as luck would have it, the last song you listened to, Super Sonic VS Perfect Dark Gaia is actually an instrumental arrangement of it.
I advise you to listen to more tracks from Sonic Unleashed, especially the EggmanLand theme. The soundtrack of this game is amazing.
Would love a part two. Especially if you hear arid sands night, my personal favorite.
WHAT?! youtube relates Smash Ultimate with Unleashed? Normal is an amazing game
This is barely the tip of the iceberg of this ost, you definitely gotta do a part 2!!!
10:52 you need to do a part 2
I loved Unleashed mostly because it embraced different cultures in their game and had banging OSTs for it. Perfect game.
Cool Edge (Day), Jungle Joyride (Day), and Arid Sands (Day) are my favorite tracks from this game. Give those a listen when you get a chance
Unleashed is my favorite game from the entire sonic game line , everything for me is perfect
I would love a part 2, and if you do it, I'd actually think you'd really appreciate seeing the actual opening cutscene the opening theme plays in.
