    i see many Comments of People complaining there are no many Workers assembling the Cars because Robots do everything...
    YES True, Robots do all the Construction/Assembly, but who do you think maintains those Robots Functional?
    The use of Robots doesn't kill jobs, it optimizes production output and shifts jobs to a different function.
    Instead of having a bunch of workers flipping Wrenches to tighten Nuts all day for $14 an hour, they hire Trained Technicians for $20 that know how to Program and Fix the Machines.
    So rather than having 3000 People building 10 Cars a Day, you pay 3000 People to make sure the Robots keep Working nicely and make 150 Cars a Day.
    in any case you employee about the same amount of People, the Productivity on the other hand increases a lot... the other Option would be to hire 10thousand People to obtain the same Productivity of the Robots, but at that point the cost of Labor would be too high making the Cars too expensive, thus forcing to move production to Countries where labor is cheap.
    I'd rather keep the Robots and make stuff in America by hiring a good Maintenance Crew that keeps all the Machines running flawlessly all day long!

      +Sven Hesse (DrMcCoy) well, just about all the High Tech Machineries come from Italy, Germany, Japan... the US is pretty far behind in these Techologies.
      i am a Technician for Wood Working Machineries, in the WoodWorking Indusyry, as well as Metal Work and Stone Work, Italy and Germany together detain over 60% of the World market, Japan follows far behind and China/Taiwan lives by making cheap equipment that is easily affordable.
      one thing that the US should improve to help this issue is switching to the Metric System once and for all... i see that most manufacturers in the Wood Industry are already just working in Metric, it helps maintaining precision, which is a thing that usually US machineries lack badly

    The practice is, however, different. The driver sets its default settings before the journey begins on the big screen. He can save them as a profile and load at any time, if someone is driving with another driver profile. During the journey he has all the information, including navigation, in his dashboard and can also switch on the button on the steering wheel, the display information. He no longer needs to look at the big screen while driving.

    It's still undecided and I think it hinges on realizing that weight optimization is crucial. The 2.1ton of Model S I believe was a fatal mistake. It's what's weighing them down financially, weight begets costs, especially in a battery car.

      Hi Joraul. I was just talking about the Model 3 with a friend yesterday because it already has 276,000 orders! Wow. We went to the computer to see images and video of it's unveiling. There are a few quirky things about the Model three like the front "no grill" area.which looks a bit like the bottom private parts on a barbie doll and the interior middle mounted screen looks minimalist to the max but still the whole care is a masterpiece.
      It's great how Tesla has put GM and all other Auto Giants to shame and is in the process of changing the auto industry forever. Musk himself seems to intend Tesla to be a catalyst as much as it is a competitor in the Auto World.

    It says that humans are more intelligent than robots which is correct right now. But pretty soon, the statement would be reversed with quantum computing power in which a robot would be able to think of multiple tasks at the same time which humans are not able to do. Hence, at that point, it is inevitable that robots would take over most of the jobs which humans are doing now.
    The human race has to prepare itself for this inevitable evolution.

    • @stale2665
      @stale2665 8 лет назад

      +Weerakoon Wijewardena Processing power isn't the same as intelligence. You need intelligent software as well, not just powerful hardware. However, a machine doesn't have to be as smart as a human to perform better at most tasks, so that doesn't matter. Machines just half would put 95% of people out of a job, because most jobs do not require an amazing intellect, or even an average intellect.

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz 7 лет назад

      Quantum computing is an eternal pipe dream. A general purpose quantum computer could theoretically resolve all artificial intelligence issues because it reduces most tasks that solve in exponential time into tasks that are solved in polynomial time. However it's unclear whether such a machine can be created, and if so, when. So far, the existing quantum machines are nothing like that, and it doesn't really seem like the goal is coming closer.
      People can't think of multiple things at the same time very well, so you don't need a quantum computer to replace a human, a more likely replacement is some kind of 3D interconnected logic array. However logic arrays are akin to memory devices, and you have seen first 3D multi-layer memory devices already.
      Certainly, our algorithms and computational capacities have been improving, and i think humanless factory is possible right now. However, the engineering cost and time can currently run rampant, so it's more economically viable to have people on production. The most effective step now would be IMO to provide more powerful tools, possibly AI assisted, which can increase the velocity of software development. But nobody has the silver bullet yet.

    This is sheer propaganda......nothing more. Someone tell me where they have room in their vehicles to place dual motors? Dual motors, larger batteries, and all that "road hugging" weight as Ford Motor Company once bragged in television ads about one of their ugly, underpowered, overweight ICE 4 door sedans.....lol. Dual motors a great moment in automotive history.....all that weight just gives we motorist more opportunity to spend money on replacing tires every 10-20 thousand miles, regardless of manufacture specified tread life for their products. Oh, they might be fast, the Tesla dual motor machines, but boy, anyone thinking this technology is a free lunch, guess again. Go fast, you will drain battery that much quicker, consume more electricity, and get recharged more often.....a vicious cycle. Renewable energy.....lmao.

    If a long winter blackout occurs in a land of electric cars most of the population will
    perish in the freezing cold. The gas powered car that would provide cabin heat for
    many days will not be there. The electric car could only supply heat for a short time
    and would quickly discharge its battery making a trip to a shelter impossible.

    A good video, but it's also how all OEM's build their vehicles as well. There is not much difference in vehicle manufacturing methods/technology across the OEMs. The exceptions being that the entire Body In White is made out of aluminium instead of carbon steel, and that there's no gas powertrain that's loaded into the vehicle. Also, FYI to those that don't know, Tesla's plant was a former GM/Toyota joint venture (NUMMI) and before that, GM-Freemont Assembly. History lesson for the day.

    • @electronsmove
      @electronsmove 8 лет назад +1

      +shartne how many solar panels do you have? a couple acres of solar panels would be needed to drive a short distance to work everyday at a cost that would easily eclipse the car itself..or you can cover your house with panels and wait a week to drive once to work, maybe, why not just use one solar panel and work from home for a couple months while it charges?

    • @shartne
      @shartne 8 лет назад

      You could do a lot with only 5,000 watts of panels. thats about 20 panels. I can cover everything during the day at my home with 2300 watts. I use gasoline to drive my care gas is cheap. 1.50 a gallon. what you say about needing a whole bunch of acres is false really off on your figures by a mile.

    • @electronsmove
      @electronsmove 8 лет назад

      cars take more electricity than your house, add your house use to a car and drive about 60 miles a day and it will take more than the roof of a 1200 sq ft ranch. Include cloudy days and winter and partial exposure and it gets to be a challenge. With an acre or two, you could compensate for most of those deficiencies.
      Why don't you just put one solar panel on the roof of a Tesla and drive it cross country?

    • @electronsmove
      @electronsmove 8 лет назад +1

      forums.teslamotors.com/en_GB/forum/forums/how-much-does-it-cost-fully-charge-model-s-85
      you are correct,
      I miss read a decimal.
      so based on the numbers in the above forum, we save about 1500 USD a year in fuel and incur and upfront cost of the car and the solar installation. 100k+ (of course we can finance it.)
      Solar declines in output every year as the panels degrade and it is difficult to drive enough to break even, if we evaluate the purchase in dollars.
      without solar or clean energy we are driving a coal and propane powered car.
      I love the idea of electric cars. I would like to own a Tesla. Hopefully we have some genius discovery for energy production in the next few years.

    • @redxsage
      @redxsage 10 лет назад +4

      Wow. Fairly Unbalanced replies on an otherwise favorable Tesla Motors report -- again. What a surprise.
      Yes. Tesla Motors has successfully demonstrated the viability of creating a fully capable and desirable electric car. They did so with a loan 'guarantee' from the Federal Government, which has already been paid back in full, with interest. Other manufacturers, such as Ford Motor Company, took out much larger loans ($5,900,000,000) and are behind in making payments.
      I guess you are talking about the approximate dollar value of ZEV Credits, which can be traded between auto manufacturers. Those auto companies that don't meet mandated goals for inclusion of Zero Emissions Vehicles in their fleet have to pay certain penalties to the government. They can reduce or eliminate those penalties by purchasing the extra ZEV Credits that other other manufacturers have, typically at a lower rate than the cost of the penalties.
      The penalty is currently $5,000 per point, per car, for those who miss the mark. These are not SUBSIDIES -- they are PENALTIES -- for non-compliance.
      At the moment, combining ZEV Credits from both the Federal government and the Great State of California, Tesla Motors receives (by some reports) nine (9) ZEV Credits per vehicle it manufacturers.
      So sure, if they were to sell all of those at the same rate as the penalty amount, that would come to $45,000...
      ...Here the thing is: THEY DON'T.
      Why? Because that would be STUPID. ZEV Credits are sold typically at a rate of $4,000 or less each instead. There's no point in paying the full amount at $5,000 per car unless you are paying the fine. Auto manufacturers who need them, buy the ZEV Credits to SAVE MONEY over the fine amount they would pay otherwise. And as more and more auto manufacturers clean up their act by adding hybrids, alternative fuel vehicles, and electrics to their product line, the 'going rate' for ZEV Credits is constantly going DOWN.
      Some companies don't bother with the ZEV Credit market at all and just pay millions of dollars in penalties to the government every year.
      Tesla Motors announced a year ago that they did not expect to continue selling ZEV Credits beyond a certain point. As predicted, the company is now profitable on a per car basis without the benefit of ZEV Credit sales. Please note that is good business, because their ZEV Credits per car are to be reduced anyway. The bonus amount from California is going away this year. The program from the Federal government is set to end around 2017.
      Keep in mind that ZEV Credits are different from the Tax Credit that goes to eligible Consumers. You only get that amount to reduce the amount of taxes you already owe the government -- when you file taxes the year after the purchase of an electric/hybrid car. That is an INCENTIVE -- not a SUBSIDY.

    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW HERE! Just extensive use of existing technology!
    Except for the flashy 'red' colors & the number (quantity) of machines & a lot of media 'HYPE' this is for the most part, 40 year old technology.
    I programmed, maintained & serviced (repaired) these same kind of 'manufacturing' robots starting back in 1964 thru 1990 & they performed all of the functions shown here & some more. Then Automation Technology/Robots were being used primarily in the aircraft, aerospace & high-tech industries. However in the USA, the extensive use of 'manufacturing' robots & Automation Technologies as shown in this Tesla Plant was Prevented & Prohibited by the various 'UNIONS'. This 'UNION interference' is one of the 'key' reasons for the failure of the automotive & other manufacturing industries in America.
    By limiting the influence of 'UNIONS' & because Automation Technologies & manufacturing robots were put into extensive use by all industries in most foreign countries, i.e. Japan, Korea, China, etc., they easily & quickly surpassed the USA in both 'cost' & 'quality'. 'Cheaper Labor' was & is only 'one' of several factors that has allowed other countries to surpass the USA in manufacturing.
    The Major Reason American manufacturing has disappeared/failed was because of the willingness of American manufacturing's to share/transfer their product secrets, patients, knowledge & 'know how' to these foreign countries. That action alone guaranteed the demise of American manufacturing.
    The careers that pay well now & that will still be here in the future are NOT in 'labor' or software programming'. They are in the engineering design, innovation, application of Automation/Robotics, other High Tech processes & the skilled 'Management' of these functions. Unlike when I started in this field, today worldwide, a 'Robotic' Software Program is used to 'program' most of the functions of all 'manufacturing robots' & this does NOT require the skills of a 'software' programmer.

    You mention pollution from energy production using fossil fuels and yes that is a problem, but may EV owners make there own Solar and Wind energy or buy Renewable Energy offsets like I do. Tesla Super Chargers are moving to 100% solar with energy storage.

    On top of the fact Electric cars are the WORST for the environment when you count the materials and manufacturing required to make and dispose of the batteries. Also the electricity to charge them is still created using fossil fuels.

    It's true that a large percentage of Tesla's money has come from selling their carbon credits to other car makers. Basically the government wants X% of cars to be emission free. Most manufacturers don't make it to X%. Tesla is at 100%. So they can sell their credits to other manufacturers each year. But a Tesla Model S over it's lifetime is about as eco friendly as an 80MPG gas car. Not "much more damaging" than a gas car.

    Lithium-Ion are far from non-toxic (EPA study), but they are the best alternative to lead-acid at the moment. Carbon nanotubes seem to be a decent step forward as anode replacements but the energy cost to manufacture results in a negative return.
    It would also be nice to think that many are like you and ensure solar or renewable fuel sources are used.to recharge these batteries, but I have a feeling the number is few and far between.

      Actually, Tesla Motors is currently only using 20% of what used to be a NUMMI factory, operated by Toyota and General Motors. Tesla Motors employs 3,000 people within that space. NUMMI only had 4,500 employees. As Tesla Motors' production ramps up, they will have far more employees than the site has ever seen.

      I'd like to know which new car manufacturers already had thousands of third party stores ready with spare parts when they released their first car. Things like that take time. If they sell a lot of cars, third party stores will start selling parts for them. With 3D printing improving every year, making aftermarket parts becomes easier and easier as well, even for car models that aren't very common.

    There are so many investors who want to short Tesla's stock lol. This company is doing barely ok right now and along with it's oh so profitable Solar City :/, these cars are just cars but with huge batteries and computers in them. Computers, even the good ones, always break at some point, and lithium prices are sky rocketing. I sold my S a year ago and my BMW has had so many less problems. Same build quality but the BMW has a much nicer feel to it. Unfortunately, I live in the bay area so I see Teslas daily. My neighbor just got his X and the doors are already failing. Here's a solution for the world...maybe we should just not use cars as much and be closer to our work places rather than try to deplete the world of lithium and think it's all ok because it's not oil. Or maybe we should try to help this planet not die rather than focus on getting to Mars. Priorities...don't burn as much C02 or use precious metals.
