@@indie5621It wouldn't have qualified as an Indian film. There was hardly any Indian producers involved. the production companies were almost exclusively European.
@Blaze6432 Not true. Two Indian production companies - Chalk and Cheese Films and Another Birth - co-produced the film. It was elgible for selection in India, but the jury chose to look the other way
Been waiting for the US trailer to show up. Was hoping that either Focus Features or Roadside Attractions or Bleecker Street would distribute it in US. But it looks very good. Love seeing Indian movies at Cannes. Hope more get that chance
This is one instance where you judge the book by its cover. Even though the dialogue sounds a little tacky (most regional Indians don't think in English and use terms like 'city of dreams'), the premise and characters look so real, like so many people that you walk across in Mumbai everyday. I will always cherish movies that made real Mumbai as their backdrop like Aaji, Black Friday, Dhobi Ghat, Aamir, Mumbai meri jaan...
Jury ? ... It is big joke in India. Even they gave national award for Allu Arjun for Pushpa. What a mess... Nothing to expected those useless juryssssss....

This film should have been India's selection for Oscars 😢
It can't be. This is primarily a French production.

Janus Films is a great choice! They are good at distributing non-English language films plus this will end up on Criterion a lot quicker
As far as i know, this movie isn't released anywhere in India apart from Kerala.
It will release in November.
Yeah. I really wish it got a wide release in india I really wanted to see it
