Just wow @8mins 32 sec in the video, the difference holding my hand in front of my mouth and doing the sss exercise, I easily got another 20sec's just on first try. Your videos are great, thank you for posting them.
@@b-l-u-e thanks for your question. Most of the time we are using way too much air when we sing. The idea of this exercise is to learn how to consciously reduce our airflow so that we can learn to control it better when we sing. Your vocal folds vibrate around 160 x a second in your talking range so therefore you need very little air to create sound there. As you go higher they resonate faster and faster so the higher you go - the less air - you need to create the same volume. ⭐️🎤 amazing huh!
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been a singer for a looong time but all of them are of equal difficulty for me I get them all to around 30 seconds (which I’m not proud of 😭) z and s feel the same as well as with the hand vs without
Hey. Yes that's quite common for people that have been singing a while - it may be more a placement thing to get to the next level. does it effect your singing? Running out of air?

My zzz is soo shaky can you tell me what that means. I'm guessing no control? Thanks.
Yes. That’s common initially. I find it really helps if you play with different areas in your mouth to place the zzz until you find a comfy ‘easy’ spot. Sometimes it’s because we are trying to hold the sound in the wrong area. Try forward, back, middle of mouth etc.
In my inexpert opinion, you may as well use the mouth to get you into the habit while singing. I suspect it is unlikely to have a great effect on your warming up, one way or the other.
Great question. So as singers we don't nose breath - it's important to breath from your mouth during exercises as this is the way we need to sing so we want to be setting muscle memory in our exercises the way we would in a song. Breathing through the nose limits the air flow when we need access to air quickly during songs.
@@AngiesVocals but ma'am mama Cheryl poter also told to breathe thoroug nose to make it neutral for muscle memory and sing high notes to capable to reach
Well done!! Love it - next goal is 2 alphabets!! Then you want to start to practice the exercise in higher and lower areas of your range to practice control in those spots.
That’s normal to start with. 😊 muscles are learning. You should find over the next few weeks it should stsbalise. The key is to play with where you are holding it in your mouth. Find the easy spot it wants to sit at and try from there. 😊🎤

omg me too
Please answer ma'am i have been struggling with breathing should i breath from nose while doing warm ups
If you want; but why waste the opportunity of getting into correct practice and making it instinctive ?
@@WideCuriosity please tell me sir which one is better mouth or nose while doing warm ups
