Perfect lesson for me. Just trying to get my weak hand on the same speed to get my singles fluent. Smooth singles ate the key to drumming, as most of it is singles.
I know it's probably ridiculous, but it's like you were reading my comment 2 weeks back under your video and made this one exactly form me :))! Thank you!
Rotating😆Rotating my wrist between french and german grip has been a great tool in the belt for me. Like Ringo Star sweep motion, but it's like a rotational accent.
I remember watching a Dave Weckl video where he mentions that, where by rotating the wrist from French to German on the first and second note of a double respectively, it creates a looser and even double by doing a rotational accent. Pretty cool stuff imo!
First person I've found that is left handed but plays drums righty like me! Can't wait to use more of this! I know fingers is my current missing piece as I primarily use wrist. Can't to break free from that.
In some of your other videos you recommend using the middle fingers as the fulcrum. When you are using your fingers with a normal grip (as opposed to the french grip where its clear you are using your pointer as the fulcrum) are you using the middle finger as the fulcrum and then just the ring and pinky fingers to control the stick?
maaaan I am the SAME! Right hand is the weakest to the point I've even considered there's something worng with me and I should focus getting really better in everything that doesn't need its fingers and ditch those patterns
in a video of yours I watched a day or 2 ago (from 1 year ago) you said not to use your index finger as the fulcrum. Has your opinion changed? or is this part of French Grip and middle finger for American grip only? I am a beginner and maybe overloading myself with too much information.
Super nube here. At 64. 😅. I am always wondering why your sticks look like they are shredding about 4 inches from the end. What is that all about? Thank you, and love your teaching.
What I like to do is playing 8th notes on one hand at 140 throwing in triplets with fingers and 16th by adding the other hand. Hard to do with my weak hand leading.
Great teacher but you repeat your intros a min 3 times over and it makes me annoyed despite you not being annoying. Your description and demonstration is top level give it the respect it deserves. The Repeating is so unnecessary
I got my weaker hand, which is my left hand, stronger by becoming a djembe player as well. Your exercises are a great tool, Stephen! ✌🏼
Great detail on where/how the fingers should be. Thank you .😊
Thanks for your help bud I’ve just started drumming and you’ve help me the most with your videos
Sure, u hear it a lot, but u r the best drum teacher

Really awesome. I’ll definitely use your advice.

As a beginner I want to play faster hihat with a right hand (mostly rock), and with a left hand faster doubles / ghosts. Great video 👍🏻

I'm confused. Are we not supposed to do middle finger fulcrum anymore ?

What IEMs do you use Stephen? Thanks!
how would you do those doubles on a low tuned snare?
6:13 is this really 120? I use 120 bpm in my metronome and it doesnt sync to his video his video beat is faster?
He’s playing 8th notes
So for finger playing it is better to do a French grip versus a German grip?
And then for doubles, you want the German grip?

My left wrist always tends to rotate back to the german grip when trying the french grip and my stick ends up hitting the pad at a diagonal angle.
I play always french grip with wrists and fingers with 5b drumsticks and i have power
Drum and Bass with fingers 180bpm 16th i play to like very much 😊
As a lefty why did you decide to play with a right handed set up? Wouldn’t it be harder and it doesn’t feel as natural?
My weak hand is my right. Never realized how dexterity in my dominant left hand is so different from my right
simple != easy
Blast beats 😂
I’m also a Lefty so I understand every word you’re saying.
Blast beats at 300bpm 😂
Ambidexterity
may left hand got different mind than right hand… ughhh

I love your content, but it's too long for me to watch 90% of the time. It would be great if you could bring your videos down to five minutes.
Watch in increments.

Dude, you talk way WAY too much. Cut it down and focus on the important points. Way too much extraneous blah blah
