  • Some riders may opt for crash bars while others prefer a more minimalist a lighter approach.
The CRF300L is a dual sport and based on the type of riding that I do, I'm happy to stick with only some engine covers and skip the crash bars.
The installation of the ACERBIS Engine Guards are very simple and will add protection to the side covers of your CRF300L.

I really love that I know exactly what to do before even purchasing the item and especially how much torque each screw would need. Thanks for your videos. They helped me a lot already.

Hi Roia - another great informative video. Good to see the engine guards are compatible with the Adventure Spec bash plate I have just purchased :-) The only downside I can see is having to remove the right side engine guard every time I want to change the oil filter and the potential effect on the 4 engine casing threads/bolts :-(

Remember that the torque rating is for clean / dry fasteners. If using a thread lock, reduce your torque by about 20%, verify with the product suppliers for precise torque reduction. The same goes for anti-sieze or bolts with grease or oil on them.

Thanks for the good and clear explanation! Cool to see so many upgrade mods for the crf300. Just curious what is your opinion an the crf300L vs the Rally? What made you chose the L? I hope in the future to own one of these and explore some tet routes.

      Thanks for the comment, Roy!
      CRF300L advantages for me are:
      Lighter
      Lower seat height
      No windshield
      Cheaper
      Better looking
      Disadvantage
      Smaller fuel tank
The smaller fuel tank is something I can work with but it would be nice to have a few extra litres.
I really don’t like the headlights of the Rally 😂.
No windshield is better for off-road. Disadvantage on highways.
The lower seat height and lower weight are huge points for me.
Both platforms are good. I would only take the rally if you like the looks of it and you will enjoy spending more time on tarmac.
If your main goal is to take it off-road I would not go for the rally.
Both models can do it all. They are just slightly “tuned” for different environments.

@@RoiaMoto thanks for the info! Yea for me some highway use is needed since i live in the netherlands and tet here is not tet enough for me. Maybe a future mod would be a second hand rally tank as mod for yours

It’s also not great for me. I’m in Austria and no TET in here.
I guess for you the “best” closest TET country would be France.
Yes, I’m still considering the Acerbis larger fuel tank.

    • @royvisser90

@RoiaMoto would expect Austria had gorgeous tet routes. Alot of private property?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  6 месяцев назад

Yep.. they are super sensitive with their private roads in here. No TET at all in here.
I have been able to find a few nice gravel roads and every year I do some scouting but during summer I get out of here and go towards Italy or the Balkans. Balkans is amazing!

Can I install the Acerbis plastic skid plate with this engine guard?
    Translated from Japanese
Sorry if my English is wrong

      Hello there
Yes, it is possible to install both.
Just one thing that I am not 100% sure. Apparently there is some small difference between the European and American CRF300L on the engine case.
I know that the European version these 2 parts are compatible and can be installed together.
I’m not sure if there is any difference with the Japanese version.

      @@RoiaMoto Thanks for the reply.
I checked the official website of Acerbis and found that both X-POWER and Skid plate are compatible products HONDA CRF250L (JAPAN) 2023
I don't know if this is the answer.
I'm going to buy both products and try to install them.

Hi Roia, what do you think about the probable oxidation of the Carter because of the mud inside?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Janco,
I don’t think it will be a problem.
As far as I know the engine crankcase is made of aluminium and has a coat of paint on top. I’ll definitely monitor if corrosion is an issue and post an updated review is there is problem.

In some of the shots you don't have the frame protectors installed. Aren't you worried the frame will rust underneath those? The paint there is very weak, I have some bald spots on mine after 2 rides and 350km. I ordered some 2-component lacquer to make a hard see-through layer.
