its easy for someone that's not a firefighter to put down how long it takes to arrive on call it takes time when people do not move and your trying to drive safe to keep everyone else safe on the road. lights and sirens don't always work in are favor
@@howardvanderhoff9596 I used to respond on a motorcycle and people would see me and then floor it like they could make it through the intersection. It caused a few accidents with other officers over the years. People don't understand that we'll be out of your hair in 20 seconds so it's just better to wait than end up with a broken car and plenty of tickets to go with it and on top of it you're putting someone in the hospital and possibly taking away their chance at making a living.
From what i've heard, it's not legal to go through a red light to make room for a first responder. You're putting yourself and others at risk. If a first responder comes to a congested red light, it is the responsibility of the first responder to find their way around.

That's the traffic light communicating with the opticom on the truck, which flashes a certain pattern to turn the light green. (It is illegal to be in possession of an opticom unless so authorized)
If you want a good camera you can use on interior attacks, the fire cam 1080 attaches right to your helmet and can withstand constant temperatures of 900 Fahrenheit and flash temperatures of 2000 Fahrenheit. A firefighter at my station has one and it’s awesome!

plus rural districts tend to be large and stations are spread much further apart than in urban areas....

Greetings from Lancaster, California, (Los Angeles County).
I love this driver he makes others look like their driving like turtles!
Good to see how courteous your drivers are there pulling over
Indeed. Must be referring to the afro in the blue car at the light.
14:04 - thank you for not being a naive fool afraid to get out of the way of the firetruck just because the light was red.
What if that fidget spinner in the fron is actually a propeller that giving the truck extra speed😗
🤦♂️
It's called a rotary and it doesn't give it extra speed, it makes the truck look cooler

Are cars allowed to go through red lights if the emergency vehicle can't get through an intersection?
Fire alarm 8 Not sure the exact legislature, but I'm sure no cop would ever pull them over for doing so

which time in the vid is engine 501's response?
they all act like staying stoped at the light is more important than letting them get by
The Opticom systems in some of the intersections with sensors weren't working while some clearly were with the flashing white light.
A lot of the lights looks pretty old, so most likely the DOT needs to replace them.
