Goosebumps. Im 53 and proud of hip hop as i saw its birth and all its stages of growth. As soon as hip hop started teaching and elevating the youth, they squashed this type of rap from the mainstream and you see what it was replaced with.

I3 year old white teen who was obsessed with hip hop when I first heard this in late 90. My boy had the CD and dubbed it for me. Brand Nubian became my favorite group and this song was my fav. All for One is one of the greatest albums ever. I The melody, sample, and lyrics are incredible. I never knew until a few years later that MTV banned the video because of the white devil face. A few years ago my cousin and I were talking about old school hip hop and he said “ Man, Wake Up was your favorite song back in the day”.
Miss this kind of lyrical content and samples. Conscious music needs a rebirth.✊🏽🖤
