The 80’s emcees discouraged people from doing drugs and promoted knowledge meanwhile todays mainstream mumble rappers does the exact opposite, promoting drugs, tatted-up, horrible lyrics etc. People should really learn from real emcees like Rakim, GZA, KRS, MC Lyte, Guru, Kane etc who all promoted learning, love, peace and positivity.
FACTS!
These guys read books and contemplated bigger things. They rarely rapped about money. They used simple words to make complex points. These clowns nowadays don't care about anything and aren't saying ANYTHING.
@Orlando Coombs that's true, but at least they tried to put out a positive image for the youth that looked up to them. Now the rappers don't give a damn, especially the females.
Exactly
@@65neu They are also incredibly racists and homophobes. At least Lord Jamar is.
Saw Sadat X and Jamar perform this version in Greensboro, NC on a cold Sunday at the Armory on Valentine's Day in 1993. The crowd went nuts!!!!
I used to listen to this when I was 63, and now I'm 17. This will forever be a classic.
Brand Nubian never get their due props. They’re way too underrated . Happy Birrthday Grand Puba 🎂🎊🎉🎁🎈
This version is madd doper than the album version. The beat on this is crazy dope
Razor Blade #FACTS
The beat is. But everyone's delivery was better on the album. Especially Puba and Lord Jamar.
I been saying that since the day this video dropped on Video Music Box! Their flows were a little sloppy on the album version, and that Guy sample on the album version sounded out of place. But this version was fucking fire!
Love this version. I was pissed my cassette single got warped. Love RUclips.
Razor Blade facts
How dope was hip-hop then?!! Maybe I'm just being nostalgic but it was fun.
Andre Bellamy word up I ask myself that everyday
You sound white
+Ricardo Rodriguez You sound white
wizkid8205 word up son.i grew up with the 80s and 90s.and its qas the best time for hip hop music.now rap music is horrible
You're not being nostalgic cause I feel the same and wasn't born in that era..
AT THIS POINT IN TIME!!! GRAND PUBA WAS THE ILLEST MC IN THE WORLD!! THIS IS THE MOST HIP HOP SONG EVER!!! PEACE GOD'S!!!!
While I agree most people thought he was the illest, I was always more partial to Lord Jamar and still believe he's the best Emcee in Brand Nu.
DocFaust SUPER GROUP!!
Chuck D!!
Gab N Sam peace god!!☆☆ word!!
Gab N Sam big daddy kane
Love that NYC old school flavor!
They all got busy but Pubas verse damn...
"All your life you must teach truth of the true and living God, not a mystery spook. And when you do that; pursue that goal which made the student enroll, then only then you'll prosper."
Powerful words!
Jheri Curl Jankins do u agree with fat Joe saying nigga
Peace to the God.

Indeed!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Before Nas, Mobb Deep, and Wu, there's Brand Nu!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAND PUBA!! 50 YEARS OLD TODAY.
Born day
LJ's verse on this track is classic... the lyrical content and delivery on his verse could be and should be dissected for years to come...
+airricksreloaded one of my top 3 verses of all time. no doubt.
+airricksreloaded
"I grip the mic so tight I get callouses."
Always thought that was one of the meanest lines.
My favorite Hip Hop vid of all-time.
Exactly! Mind detect mind!
Slick shit
Beside Kane No half steppn the best hip hop song mad
My favorite group of all time! This is the reason why they dumbed down Hip Hop. Groups like this were to powerful and intellectual with their words!! Geniuses!!
That's exactly why to many waking up
I can see why Lord Jamar have his perspective,Brand Nubian helped lay the foundation of this hip hop culture and it was an organic movement...
3rd bass lords of Brooklyn, vanilla ice.
Sinatra Smith Agreed
Puba was a trendsetter. His flow was amazing.
Love this version! We need to school the younger generations about the music during this time! Definitely a jewel!✊🏿🙏🏿
Grew up listening to Brand Nubian on cassette tapes. 5% nation forever. Peace God's!!! Teach truth!
I'm 16 yrs old and I love this era of hip hop. It's more positive and unified than that self-destruction DRIL MUSIC!
This comment always irks me, if you can't appreciate every era of rap music than you aren't a true true fan of the genre
@not2mportant.797 except gangsta rap, horrorcore, and drill, are all destructive. Lots of OG MCs teach not doing drugs and having safe sex, and how they're SMART.
Give Derrick x and lord Jamal credit for keeping brand Nubian going once piba left . That album without piba was a classic
Puba not Piba! That album WAS a classic but they were always better as a trio than a duo mpo.
Thx I always thought it was piba.. 😁.. of course but my point was they at least hit us with a nice piece of work without the star .. how did the commodores do when Lionel Ritchie left ?
Man i miss those awesome 90's hip hop. i will never b that way. that was the best era 90's from the dressing to the music. bangn son!! 90's head 4ever!!!!!
this version is wifi in my soul!!!
"no im not a phony and I got a tenderoni...love the way she is not too fat not too boney..." Cracks me up everytime...she ain't too boney. LOL!!
Just perfect
This video gives me goosebumps. Amazing era!!!
+samuel Hernandez
My favorite rap video of all time.
Gets no rawer than the b-boys,the dj and three emcees passin the mic at a park jam.
Yup. I was 13 when this came out. I was truly blessed to grow up in this era.
samuel Hernandez
True indeed.
It came out when I was 15.
Damn this brought back some memories. I wish I could go back. You truly don't realize what you have until it's gone. We had HIP HOP in the palm of our hands. And we let the devil come in a completely ruin it from the inside out.
For real!!
Puba was nice af
This jam helped keep me together when times got tough, allowed me to unwind from the knotted-up troubles I was going through.
Amazing vibe here-head-nodding groove, verses shaper then knives, a boom
bap that just slams…hip hop cooked at the perfect temperature 🔥
Hip Hop is BLACK music/CULTURE
how you gonna say music is for black people, shut your bitch ass up or i'll smack the shit outcha word to redman
@@RedxLilxSleepy it is for blacks look what they represent in they videos the whole 90s was the afro thing for blacks/hip hop is washed up now tho
Peace to the gods and the earths
"I gets headaches from the wack"
You have no idea Puba!
Jimmy Benyoucef Definitely something that’s relevant today with all these drug-promoting, tatted-up mumble rappers. Every upcoming rapper should learn from the 80’s emcees who didn’t even need to curse at all and promoted love/peace.
"supreme mind - will take you out of your paralysis
grip the mic so tight - i get calluses "
jeez, dope lines
Would've destroyed Eminem with this verse
Lord Jamar killed this.
Man this was ahead of it's time. 3 solid verses and amazing production.
Hip-hop before in took a steep nosedive somewhere after the mid-90's.
Sinning is for Sinners and beginning is for beginners. Grand pu was off the chain ⛓
Can't fuck with New York Hip Hop on the best day of your life REAL TALK!!!!😡🔥😡🔥😡
One of the most underrated groups ever...Brand Nubians ..all 4 one &1 four all
I feel SO OLD when I reminisce about the days of recording videos after school from Yo Mtv Raps and Rap City on BET. This was always 1 of my faves. Music was so good back then.
i dont really care if im grown thats the life ..but i never forget and still listenin to my old school head like rakim..big daddy..craig....public ...puba...good music good music and i listen to new shit too ..you just need to check the underground scene like always....peace rap
This version is so tight
Damn. The honesty and soul can't be denied..as I wipes a small tear from the corner of my eyes. Lawd we miss this sound! The soul is gone nowadays
One for all.. it's all for one ❤🖤💚👊🏽
Man 90 hip hop absolutely the best.
Peace to the Gods I got knowledge of Spring of 1990 at Central State University. This group along with PRT, and Rakim was dropping serious jewels.
For anyone wondering, this is the "Radio Version" that we all know and was what was played on the radio at the time. This version of this song samples James Brown's "Can Mind" (1971), "All for One" (1971), "Funky President (People It's Bad)" (1974), Guy's "Goodbye Love" & "Piece of My Love" (1988).
Listen to the 5% message, its the power of the song which is not very detectable at first
Damn they was awake and conscience way back then.
Vanessa That's right. We listen to those dudes back then. That's why my generation is a little more awake than today's generation.
Poor Righteous teachers..X Clan....2 Kings in a cypher...Umcs...YZ.... Arrested Development..among others...we had good music with messages back then
Jaywu_chakra Your generation gave birth to the garbage we have today. Can’t give yourself too much props lol
@@UndeadPharaoh
Chill out.... I'm 42 and didn't have, my first child til, 2 years ago!
Calm and Aware! Your situation is anecdotal. Most of generation X had their kids at younger ages and gave birth to the millennial generation, which is the generation that makes the music we hear today.
So my point stands. The generation that grew up on groups like Brand Nubian is the Same generation that gave birth to the garbage we hear today.
Good old days ......
My favorite rap video to this day!!!
Puba rockin' the Georgia sweat.
Go Dawgs!!!
I wanna personally thanks rockstar games for putting this joint on GTA 4 and bringing me straight here, still listening and won’t stop 🔥
Fr, sucks they aint pay for an extended license tho, still remember listening to this back in 08 in gta 4 but nowadays especially on console you aint gonna be hearing this and many other bangers bcs of the 2018 update, unless you on pc ofc
Wish this was the version on the album... I still listen to In God We Trust to this day, along with Dottie X's solo albums
Peace To The Gods and Earths,All Wise and Civilized.2019💯✌🏿❤🎧🎵🎶🔥🔥🔥

Smart young man.
90s what a time to be alive..
All for one one of the best hip hop songs ever made
This version is far superior
Bumped this track till it broke
I wish they would release this version instead of the original. This is, by far, the best version.
Agreed! I always loved the drums they used in this version. Sick.
By far!
Hip hop back then was more about the culture
If you were born in 1969 in NYC like me. You can appreciate this……
The song that went in my head when me and my crew went seperate ways..lol..love my brothas to this day..the 4 horsemen..glad i chooze my own journey..and walks alone to this day..will love the rest of them to i fall off this earth..p.e.a.c.e
Sadat X. Nuff said.
rabapab23 EXACTLY!! He was always the illest! Voice and delivery.
I know him personally. Definitely a good brother. Very humble brother & an awesome MC!
Love ❤️ Sadat X still til this day going N2 2021!!!!
This radio edit version is better than the one in the standard album, to me at least 😌
one of my favorite groups and this video was so damn dope its ridiculous.
+Andre Potts
Tell me about it.
I'd give anything to be young again just to go back in time to the REAL HIP-HOP during the 90s I still have the cassette single 🎤🎤
Willie I;m 55 the 1980s,1990s,2000s was best eras of hip hop music trust me

Gods of knowledge “!! Their messages were for the ages

Lyrical JDL Williams Are you JDL from the Cold Crush?
Grew up in South Central L.A during the 70's-80's when gangsta gangsta was being shoved down our throats. But I gravitated to 5 percenters like Brand Nubian, Poor Righteous Teachers, Lakim Shabazz. I learned Knowledge of self and then my life prospered.
Cali had a few rappers with knowledge of self. Kam, Paris, Def Jeff and Rass Kass. Cube did get some knowledge of self when he left NWA.
Lord Jamar was on point ///once again
Puba verse was long like a book on this but i aint mad at him. I always liked how the camera was going around them in a circle. When i was a kid dreaming of being a rapper i would vision the cam going around me like that.. i think nas did it too in "Nas Is Like" video
Puba swag lyrics was on point ☝️
MY FAVORITE BRAND NUBIAN VIDEO! When Sadat pulls off the skull cap!!! LIBERATION!!!!!!
The Godz one of my favorite groups of all time their album all for one was my theme music for my jr high years then black moon came......
+SoulscheMattik I had the "One for All" album on tape back in 89 (which worked well for me as my old University rust-bucket only had a tape player!)
That & DOC's "The Formula" were on heavy rotation!
Black Moon, Gangstarr were at least on CD! But I couldn't ride with them!
Hip Hop for life! NY hip hop for eternity!
this is brand nubian!! not the gods
89??? sounds impossible.
lord jamar killed the verse
sure did
This is one of the dopest verses I've ever heard. The God went IN. Perfect way to end a classic song.

One For All album is come out December 4, 1990 and All For One song (Radio Version) is come out April 25, 1991!
I was in Hyattsville, Maryland near the Washington, D.C. area at that time when the single came out.

This is hip hop at it's finest and Brand Nubian to me are underrated as a group and I wish music today would sound this good. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017

So sad that 32 people don't know what real Rap music is
This was the go to in the dance cypher. Not that acrobatic stuff but soulful stuff. When even drugdealers used to bust a move then you know the beat was amazing.

4:08 "ALL YOUR LIFE YOU MUST SPEAK TRUTH/ OF THE TRUE LIVING GOD NOT A MYSTERY SPOOK". 👈🏿 ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BARS EVER WRITTEN IN HIP HOP HISTORY....
I remember playing this tape before school and doing push ups in the early morning. I love the subtle differences between the video versions of All For One, Slow Down, and Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down.
This cut should have at least 100 million veiws if not more hotep to all the old school hip hop heads the origins of hip hop💯✊👍
