Koko Volley This video has really helped me. I'm going into grade 9 and I really want to make my junior high senior volleyball team.( grade 9 can only try out for senior) last year I was on the junior team. That was the first volleyball team I've made/ tried out for so I don't have a lot of experience. This helped me do better and feel better. Thank you

read for tips!! GUYS I DID IT!!! AFTER AN ENTIRE YEAR I CAN ACTUALLY GET MY OVERHAND OVER THE NET! I honestly can’t express how happy I am. It was so frustrating watching my entire team learn to overhand serve, meanwhile I just didn’t understand what I was doing wrong. It honestly made me want to quit at times, but I can say Im glad I didn’t. If you’re frustrated you can’t get your overhand serve, just know it takes a different amount of time for everyone! The best thing to do is practice, practice, practice! TIPS: You may not think it, but the toss is actually way more important than you think!! If you don’t have a good toss, you’re GOING to hit the ball weirdly and it will limit the amount of power you can put into your serve. Another tip, make sure you’re using ALL your upper body strength because it’s so important! What helped me use all my upper body strength was pretending someone’s hand was out in front of me as if they were giving me a gift, or a high-five, and I would pretend to high-five them back as HARD AS I COULD, then I would try it with the ball with that same strength and it would go much further than before! But this is also why it’s important for a good toss so you don’t have to worry so much about missing contact with the ball, and you can mainly focus on just hitting it as hard as you can. I really hope these tips help, because they helped me a lot! If these don’t work for you, that’s completely fine too because everyone serves a little different. Don’t get discouraged because I guarantee that if you practice enough then you’ll learn to get it over!

i started playing volleyball last year and i really want to improve on my spike and overhand. i only serve under hands in games but whenever i see videos of grade 8s playing volleyball they all play so well and it makes me want to try even harder to get better. before i could only serve overhand about 15% of the time and now it’s more like 50% of the time but now i just need to hit it further so it passes the net. i’m not good at spiking at all so that’s something else i wanna improve. i’m gonna come back to this next month :)
This was so helpful! I've always had trouble with my overhand serve at practice,, and since my team has a game coming up soon I want to practice more at home. Thank you this Coach Koko!
shit, jacob, we’re in the same boat. or, we once were, considering this comment was a year ago. i’m about to start, though :) did you ever begin? are you still playing vball? how’s it going ?
DAMMERMER yes. My suggestion is to try and hit the volleyball against a flat wall practicing your overhand serve form, try to hit the same spot every time. Then when you get good form try to hit the ball far in a field so you can get distance for your overhand serve. After you are good with both you could try learning a jump serve if you want. Have fun practicing volleyball! 💕
I got cut from my volleyball tryouts team at school because I couldn’t get my overhand :/ really determined to get better in the whole sport in general now. Thanks for the tips! U r amazing! Keep doing what u do 💗👍
@@dammermer69 I'm a freshman going into volley ball too! What helps me serve a little better is, 1. Makr sure the ball isn't too high when you put it in the air and when you hit it. 2. cup your hands (like you're trying to hold something) but put it in the position of hitting the ball. 3. You have your fingers, your palm, and the heel part (which is the lower part of your hand, right below the palm.) Try hitting with the heel part of your hand. You'll put more pressure on the ball. Hope this helps!

This helped me and I became one of the best over hand servers on the team and even had to play for the 8th grade team as well! So thank you coach.

Okay guys so I tried this tutorial and it helps a lot!!!! I didnt have any knowledge on how to do this without this video. My only problem was that I dont have much strenght, so my tip is to start at step 2 (arrow), this will make your serve so much powerfull. Well overall I totally recomend this and it works because I can do every serve now perfectly
When people watch haiykuu and are now suddenly interested .. kill me edit: 11 months ago, I was not the smartest and phrased it wrong. What I was trying to say was that anything that’s about volleyball, people would constantly bring up haiykuu. The people that came to actually learn, it feels repetitive seeing haiykuu everywhere and not seeing any useful information in the comments. I do get that people like to bring it up and stuff but everywhere?? That’s just how I thought and felt. I never had an ill intention towards them, I was confused. Also I really don’t care if you started playing volleyball because of Haiykuu. If you’re doing it rn, then great for you, but I was specifically aiming my comment at the people that kept repeatedly talking about anime in the comments
Anime always influences people in so many ways. Some people figure skate cause of Yuri on ice and some play basketball cause of kuroko no basket.Nothing wrong with that
Originally I got into volleyball because of Haikyu (one of my fave anime’s rn) but now I’m actually interested in playing the sport so this was really helpful even during quarantine. Thanks coach!
Thank you so much for this video. I had an open gym tonight and I was worried about serving and this helped me so much, I got 7 out of 9 of my serves over. Turns out my toss was to much behind me. Again thank you soooooo much!👍🏻😁😁
I stop my hand to create a float effect but even from when I started I can never put topspin on my serve; however, float serves have worked well for me.
I love this!!! It really helps!! (I also used this to win an argument with my friend because I told her that overarm serves in volleyball are a thing and she said that they were not. I also proved her wrong again because she said that there is no position called a setter -good old google helped with that, ya see I’m not one to back down from a fact and I will go to the deepest parts of the internet to prove them wrong 😂-) But seriously this is amazing!!
Lauren Johnson in my school we have A and B teams. My coach does the same thing and we are still quad county rotating which is just going to the next spot and we aren’t even doing bump set spike either
im in my a team for volleyball but i cant overhand serve. i sure am really close to serving. i have a lot of trouble of keeping my wrist strong, since im so used to snapping through for hitting since im a right side hitter

maybe throwing it a little shorter... also if you're just starting i recommend to start a few inches from the net and get farther back :) it helps
Just imagine the ball is the face of someone annoying/mean
The Hazlayn Lmao yes

It's true. Queens do slay and serve.
We do 💁🏾♀️
I'm only in fifth grade and now I can overhand serve! I'm not trying to brag but your videos are so helpful! Keep doing what you're doing you are an awesome coach! Edit: I got my over hands in a game! Thanks Koko!
+Gianna Nikprelaj oh snap! *starts dancing*
Oh My God, I didn't think that with these tips I would be able to make a good serve. I have been practicing volleyball for just over 6 months and despite that, it was quite difficult for me to serve overhead. It is quite embarrassing for me to be the only person on my team who You can't do a serve that goes over the net, I was practicing my serves outside of training but I always failed and I didn't understand why they didn't work out, but now that I applied the advice in the video I was able to do better serves, thank you very much!!!
This most definitely helped me out i made the team for volleyball but I can never over hand it over the net thank u for the help
After practicing for about a week, I can consistently serve overhand and now I'm learning jump serves. Thank you so much 😌😤
How is it going now? 👏
What did you do for practice?
I've been liking volleyball since 5th and I've never really learned how to over hand serve but I want to join the team this year I'm in 7th now so I've got to learn to join the team and this video really really helped ty
update me!! did you get in?
@@Annajackson1294 I moved and by time I got to my new sch it was in the middle of volleyball season but I did get to do basketball season even tho I’m not very good
@@alawna3917 I hope you get into the volleyball team soon.
Thank you. When I had try outs today I kept messing up on the over head serves because I kept getting nervous but normally I get it. But this helps so much with my confidence in me hitting the ball. Thankfully I have another shot at try outs tomorrow. Thank you. You are so helpful to many people.
update me??? Did you get in
haha sorry for the late reply! BUT YEAH I GOT IN LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR!

this really helps! I have been trying my best yo get better at volleyball to make the team at my school I love this sport!
Yes, now I cannot be laughed when I served because of you Koko!
+Jc14 Romero that's awesome!!!!
i started playing volleyball last year and i really want to improve on my spike and overhand. i only serve under hands in games but whenever i see videos of grade 8s playing volleyball they all play so well and it makes me want to try even harder to get better. before i could only serve overhand about 15% of the time and now it’s more like 50% of the time but now i just need to hit it further so it passes the net. i’m not good at spiking at all so that’s something else i wanna improve. i’m gonna come back to this next month :)
RESULTS???
@@kynnn2690 well i haven’t been playing much volleyball because of covid, but i think i’m at 75% now?

This was so helpful! I've always had trouble with my overhand serve at practice,, and since my team has a game coming up soon I want to practice more at home. Thank you this Coach Koko!
This was made 4 years ago but I absolutely love this video I just started playing volleyball and my serves were sloppy but thanks to you I improved :)
This helped so much!! Last year I tried out but didn’t make it. Now I feel confident I will make it this year. (Next Monday!!!)

Im 14, nearly 15 and have never played volleyball before, do you think its too late to begin?
+Jacob Reed honey I didn't start until I was 14. It is never too late!
Of course not! I'm almost 14 and I've just started doing volleyball
shit, jacob, we’re in the same boat. or, we once were, considering this comment was a year ago. i’m about to start, though :) did you ever begin? are you still playing vball? how’s it going ?
Well I’m nearly 16 and I have yet to play it
Jacob Reed NOOOOOOO
I’ve only been playing for almost 2 years and I’m finally confident enough to serve overhand all the time. Thank you
SMACK
Im learning how to do over hand this quarentine bc i need to get ready for tryouts lol. Summer is volleyball practice!
Have you learned anything new cause I'm in the same sitaution
DAMMERMER yes. My suggestion is to try and hit the volleyball against a flat wall practicing your overhand serve form, try to hit the same spot every time. Then when you get good form try to hit the ball far in a field so you can get distance for your overhand serve. After you are good with both you could try learning a jump serve if you want. Have fun practicing volleyball! 💕
I got cut from my volleyball tryouts team at school because I couldn’t get my overhand :/ really determined to get better in the whole sport in general now. Thanks for the tips! U r amazing! Keep doing what u do 💗👍
Thank you so much for this! I have been hoping to try out for volleyball and I actually made the team this year!
i watched this video in 2017 to help me make the vb team and to the day i still use this method and it helps me make every ball over the net:))
I start try-outs tomorrow and I don’t know how to do a overhead serve at all omg 🤦🏾♀️
good luck 😄
Lol did u make it
DID YOU MAKE IT THOOOO
Can you tell me how I went I'm an upcoming freshman trying out for volleyball and I'm not really good at over handing serve
I've been playing for 3 years and I still can't get my overhand serve over the net. I've almost given up that I've came to RUclips. I hope this helps.
lilyiomollio me too! All I’ve ever been told is to add more power but idk how
Me as well. My under hand serves were exceptional. But my overhand serves used to suck.
I can relate to all of y’all thanks to her u now got my overhand served thank the lord
Hi army I can relate to😂

I'm trying to get better so I can make the team, this was so helpful!!!

I'm on a volleyball team and my coach said that once you think you mastered underhand move to overhand. and doing overhand was difficult for me because I didn't know where to throw it in the position I'm supposed to be in I didn't know anything until I watched this video tbh. tysm!
When she hit the ball did anyone else just scream out “WOAH”
Hey Koko, when I first watched the video I legit just watched a few minutes and only got to the follow through part, that alone HELPED me! I'm going to finish the video,
AND you've earned a sub!
Awww thanks and welcome to the club!

You helped me so much. I recently volleyball tryouts and I made the team. And I your videos helped me so much. Thank you💕
My school just made a volleyball club (not a team) this year and tryouts are in two weeks! I have no experience in volleyball so this really helped!
I’ll update when I get in :)
I was making a volleyball team and i sent this to all my teamates and now they can serve .... yay
thank you so so much!! This helped out a lot and I’m getting better at my overhand serves everyday!!. ty 🧡
Tysm for making this! I’m trying out in a few weeks and I’m trying to learn as much as I can. Thank soooo much❤️💜💙
super effective! I tried it while watching and then i'm starting to get it!!
I saw this video again and I have to say thank you!! I saw this the summer before my 7th grade year and practiced this, I never played before but decided to tryout. This helped me and I became one of the best over hand servers on the team and even had to play for the 8th grade team as well! So thank you coach.
I also atm seeing this before my 7th grade and I also want to try out
I'm a young adult and learning volleyball from scratch. Thank you for this video.

When people watch haiykuu and are now suddenly interested .. kill me
edit: 11 months ago, I was not the smartest and phrased it wrong. If you’re doing it rn, then great for you, but I was specifically aiming my comment at the people that kept repeatedly talking about anime in the comments
jenny what's wrong with that?
What's wrong with that lmao
Anime always influences people in so many ways. Some people figure skate cause of Yuri on ice and some play basketball cause of kuroko no basket.Nothing wrong with that

Originally I got into volleyball because of Haikyu (one of my fave anime’s rn) but now I’m actually interested in playing the sport so this was really helpful even during quarantine. Thanks coach!
Thank you so much for this video. I had an open gym tonight and I was worried about serving and this helped me so much, I got 7 out of 9 of my serves over. Turns out my toss was to much behind me. Again thank you soooooo much!👍🏻😁😁
❤ this vid! Helps so much and sums up everything you need to know about serving
I stop my hand to create a float effect but even from when I started I can never put topspin on my serve; however, float serves have worked well for me.
Floats are the most deadly! I usually jump float when I serve.
I can't do both lol
I love this!!! It really helps!!
(I also used this to win an argument with my friend because I told her that overarm serves in volleyball are a thing and she said that they were not. I also proved her wrong again because she said that there is no position called a setter -good old google helped with that, ya see I’m not one to back down from a fact and I will go to the deepest parts of the internet to prove them wrong 😂-)
But seriously this is amazing!!
I'm so glad that this video helped you!
“Smack”. You are so helpful I get to start middle school colleyball next year thank u!!!
This is gonna help me so much! I have volleyball tryouts tomorrow and I’m super nervous!

Thank you for doing the tutorial for beginners! You're so good coach!😊😊😊
This is so much help!! My volleyball ball coach is no help. If you can't make it over your in C team. She only focuses on the "A team material" kids.
+Lauren Johnson that's not right, and that's why I made this channel to help girls like you succeed!
Lauren Johnson in my school we have A and B teams. My coach does the same thing and we are still quad county rotating which is just going to the next spot and we aren’t even doing bump set spike either
Lauren Johnson so does my coach except we only had a and b team.
im in my a team for volleyball but i cant overhand serve. i sure am really close to serving. i have a lot of trouble of keeping my wrist strong, since im so used to snapping through for hitting since im a right side hitter
My school has a C-Team, Junior Varsity, and Varsity
Thank god my school recently built a volleyball court so I can practice their any time :)
