leleluvbot I always thought that to be f*cking insane. Like, how does a literal teenager, (technically a literal child,) have the energy to function at such early hours?? If I were them, I would have dozed off in the middle of the god damned test. That isn’t fair. I wouldn’t have the energy and the conscience to know what I’m doing, thus increasing my chances of failing. And yet they still have to pay for it!? What a burden. I just never understood that. (Sorry for the rant.)
@@fatimareyes2410 I took both AP Calc and APUSH at 2am and I could not sleep till 5 am after taking the exam because of how stressful it was. I literally did not remember what I wrote in my APUSH test cuz my mind was just sort of blank. F collegeboard. Calculus at 2 am also just sounds like SUCH A GREAT IDEA
I became nocturnal and stayed up until 4 am for the week leading up to the test. Still recovering RIP my relatively decent sleep sched. Also you know it's bad when you see the sunrise
Collegeboard creates the problem and sells the solution, a wise man once said "They cripple you, sell you a crutch, and then claim they're your savior"
Not only did international students have to the exams at the middle of the night, we still had to pay the 30 bucks extra that were originally for "shipping materials"
wtf. I knew about the stupid ass time zone shit but what shipping fees?1 It's the internet. They could've refunded those $30 or used those $30 to create a decent solution for international students.
@@justanotherweirdo11 they've been ripping off international students for decades, no reason they were gonna stop now. Shipping fees never have amounted anything close to $30 per student anyway since they always ship in bulk and have discounts with shipping companies.
They told us when we took the exam that that they were "taking measures to deliberately confuse people who may be attempting to cheat over social media". They told us we'd have the questions 24 hours after testing, and we still don't have them weeks later. Also, fun fact, apparently a tornado siren going off during the middle of your test and students losing time to run to the basement does not qualify students for retakes! 🙃
@@Ellon62 cuz US board of education is a joke, and they lobby the ever living fuck out of all legislation proposals that help students and risk them hurting their bottom line
Why would they deliberately confuse people? They literally said we could use the internet as a resource. So, if they consider looking up definitions and such as cheating, that’s cringe.
a good friend of mine is legally blind, and her collegeboard test quite literally WOULD NOT enhance the images for her. She didn't get any larger print, she just got a few extra hours to spend straining her eyes to try to understand what she was responding to. Absolute bullshit. She's had IEP plans and been legally blind for YEARS. Collegeboard has no excuse
I can relate, the past three years I have tried getting a time extension on my AP tests but they claim I am not “blind enough” even though I have been legally blind since birth. They also don’t allow me to have a magnifier of any kind. Collegeboard execs deserve what awaits them in hell.
@fern_wyvern if you are legally blind and have either an iep or a record of disability, that would probably break the Americans with Disabilitys act and you could likely sue provided statutes of limitations have not kicked in
Eh, the yelling to talking switching felt forced to me, this is the first video i watched from this guy, does he always do that? The animations are really funny though haha
remember when they changed the due date for paying for exams from March to November? for the reason of "making kids commit to the test more and earlier" even though it clearly just forced us to pay for exams before we even knew if we were confident or if we could get college credit? CB's had quite the year
but hey an overwhelming 91% of students still wanted to test so college board couldn’t take away the opportunity from all of the hardworking students across the world. How did they arrive at 91% you may ask? Well they’re still trying to figure it out too
My genius school didnt tell us about the deadline until the deadline, so there was a flood of people trying to sign up for APs (one's they werent in the class for) and i had to leave early for cross country so i couldnt sign up for apush
that shit is ridiculous, i paid before i knew that i would go through a three month long family emergency that gave me so much stress and prevented me from learning and retaining anything because it was the worst time of my life : ^)))))) i want my money back ahahahahahah
My AP teacher told us that if we didn’t have WiFi we could go sit in the parking lot by the school and attempt to use the (shitty) WiFi and tape a sign to ourselves that says some shit like “don’t talk to me I’m taking a test”
@@randomuser5443 ah yea that reminds me. So when I left this comment that was my freshman year, now I’m in my sophomore year with a new teacher, at the beginning of the year she was basically telling us that she can’t guarantee to us that she will leave us prepared for the test this year because of how classes are scheduled this year or whatever
Another problem I haven't heard anyone mention is for Arizona students the website that gave us our test times was an hour off. We don't do daylight savings here so we switch from mountain standard time to pacific for half the year and if you used college board's link to find your test time based on your location it gave us the mountain standard time while we're actually currently on pacific standard time meaning if you logged on at the time college board told you, you'd be an hour late to your test.
You realize I'm keeping this for later right? Like I'm just going to copy and keep this as a treasure which I may use to pretend I'm funny for now into the foreseeable future.
They say there are 9 circles of hell, but there’s actually 10. The 10th circle is an endless loop of “We Did Not Receive Your Response” and reassigned makeup dates. Like Sisyphus CollegeBoard Edition
I ran out of time on my math AP test and on the retake submisson form it mentioned accomodations (I have autism and ADD). The kicker? My AP teachers, the counselors, and vice principal ALL told me that accomodations (ie. More time) didn't EXIST for the AP tests!!
Anjolie Barrios Damn that’s really unfair. At my school people who need accommodations are really focused on which i never really appreciated till I learned how it is elsewhere. Basically another regional advantage that college board doesn’t account for.
As someone who took AP's this year, I feel this wholeheartedly. I made sure to shit on every survey they gave me. There's just one thing you got wrong: It's harming their *non*-profit margins. Because they *non*-profited 900 million.
Hello,I'm not a AP student but a friend of one that heard this wack ass "non-profit" company.May I ask why on earth did they decide that having every student bombard the servers on the day for a test was a great idea in their book?
My advice for anyone considering taking AP classes in high school: don’t. You’ll be far better off using that time to take dual enrollment classes at your local community college. Whatever university you end up going to is far more likely to take a community college credit than an AP credit. I took four AP classes in high school and only got college credit for one, while my friend did dual enrollment and is now graduating a year early.
Ehh it highly depends. I took 13 exams and accepted credit for 8 (the other 5 would give me credit but that just wasn’t needed) and I’m on track to graduate early.
The only reason you should take AP classes is if you want to study overseas in a program that doesn’t accept transfer credits. I’m taking a bunch of AP exams now because my high school diploma doesn’t transfer to where I live but AP scores count for admission 😂.
Look into potential middle college programs too! Some schools allow you to take your junior and/or senior year at community college which can be transferred to state colleges and universities.
I took the AP European History test this year and got a single question. "Determine whether or not the French Revolution was caused primarily by Financial hardships or Enlightenment ideas." I paid a hundred dollars for one question.
i didn't take an AP european history test, but i did take ap stats. i had something semi similar, but the entire course (not the test) was mainly about running tests and describing them. this year, it was only about describing the test. you know, the thing we covered for... about 2 weeks.i got 3/5. fuck college board
due to the pandemic they basically may be able to plead force majeure over the whole situation, pretty much exemplifying them from responsibility. i really hope that doesn’t happen though, the test was a nightmare
I immediately lost all faith in AP tests the moment I saw my grades for my 2022 AP tests. I took AP European History and AP Computer Science A. I got a 4 in AP Euro and a 3 in AP CSA. For the Computer Science test I was 100% confident on every single one of my long answers. I had so much time at the end of the test that I went through and checked every single letter to make sure the capitalization was correct. And for the multiple choice questions I only guessed on two of them because I didn't want to read all the code they put down. I am absolutely 100% confident that if that test was graded by my Computer Science teacher that he would have given it a 5. For the AP European History test... I have no idea how I got anything better than a 2. I literally have zero idea what Prussia was and the teacher for that class hated me because of how much I sucked in his class. I have a friend who took that class with me. If you asked him for the price of Barley in northeastern Switzerland in 1694 he would know it off the top of his head. He got a 3. For my long answer essays on that test I put down absolute garbage. The essays I wrote were irredeemably awful in every sense of the word. If you were to use those essays as toilet paper you would get Hemorrhoids. I cited random bullshit for no other reason than hoping it would get me a good grade. Some of my citations stated essentially the polar opposite of what I said they meant. In short: My essays were wrong. I should not have gotten a 4 under any circumstances. The scores I got on those tests made me realize just how incredibly useless those scores are. They do at at all represent my knowledge in the subjects I was tested on. Whatever wack ass way they grade those tests clearly does not work.
Yeah, you only need about a 70 percent raw score to get a 5, which goes to show how dumb it is. I had the same experience with AP WH. Got a 4 when I should've got a 2...talked out of my ass for every single essay.
Comming from someone who just took the human geo exam, their website literally KICKED me off the test and when I got back on the submit button WASNT THERE!!! Also my entire exam was based off of 2 questions that had 4-5 sub questions and expected me to write a page and a half about somthing that can be explained in 2 sentences. I took the retake today
So you're saying that writing 500+ words about intensive potato farming in Indonesia (my actual question) wasn't a legitimate way to show how much I understood the entire curriculum? That test was sooooo bs
"...Expected me to write a page and a half about something that can be explained in 2 sentences..." That's the first taste of the bull shit that is writing academic papers in the format for professional journals. Summarize your findings like 3 times in 3 different ways and you you need to include a lot of fluff and cite multiple other academic papers. Each time I'm forced to write one, I'm torn between wanting to strangle my prof, and feeling intimidated and having a feeling of deep seated dread, that leaves me wondering if I actually got into the correct field. You'll start to run into that bull shit somewhere around second semester junior year. You'll write lot more of those if you're a masochist or hate yourself, and pursue a graduate degree (currently in a masters degree in a field where such a thing likely has a low to no rate of return (do get your bachelor's degree, since that'll give you solid footing for negotiating bigger pay)).
Fun fact: back in 2009 when I was in high school I ended up in the hospital during the week of AP exams. my mother had to THREATEN LITAGATION for me to be able to take a make up test months later when I was finally well enough.
Dude my freshman year I was on my death bed and the school CALLED MY HOUSE and threatened me with suspension if I didn't show up cause it was bad for me to miss. I had to take my first AP exam ever, barely being able to focus because of my meds, and they nearly cancelled my scores because my name was wavy and they couldn't tell if my M was an M or an N.
I cut straight through a tendon in my foot the night before my APUSH exam in 2017. I had heard it was super hard to get a retake, so I made it to my 7am exam, limping after being in the hospital until 2am and a misdiagnosed injury I told them was a cut tendon. My AP teacher was shocked I chose to even show up. That day in school someone stepped on my injured foot. I took my finals two days after my surgery to repair the tendon on some nice pain medication and couldn't finish 10 questions on my 7am math final, because it was rainy and my crutches kept slipping so I got into school late that morning. The staff refused to let me have a wheelchair from the nurses office to get into the school safely. Surprisingly, I made a 5 on that APUSH exam. I wish I had been told more about dual enrollment instead of AP. College board sucks.
My really smart friend was a complete AP Euro nerd and knew everything there was to know about it. He got the hardest DBQ prompt on the test and got a 2 out of 5. I knew a lot less than him and managed to get the easiest prompt and got a 5 out of 5.
Smart? You sure? AP Euro is just a memorization test. History is simply memorization, not even basic concepts or ideas or problem solving. Your friend has photogenic memory.
@@okman7504 The test is mostly memorization, but I said he was smart because he was able to remember things quickly, but also relate concepts together in his essays and make unique arguments based on cause and effect. It's just sad he got unlucky with a prompt we didn't study as much.
There are SO many things legally wrong with that. "Lol you might be smart but who are we to know, we lost your test. So uh we are just gonna assume the worst and absolutely fuck you over :)"
so collegeboard releases scores on different days because it knows that it’s servers can’t handle it, but will let everyone take the test at the same time....
Yeah, they make just as much money from a failed test, and low success rate can create the appearance of the test actually requiring a comprehensive understanding. I know from experience that AP test questions are extremely limited and arbitrary, and the tests aren't long enough to be used to accurately determine if someone actually understands the necessary material.
My friend had a horrible AP Gov teacher so over the summer she taught herself by watching the College board videos, by constantly going over notes and books and articles. When she got her results back, she got a 2. She paid 100 dollars and spent hours of her time studying only to get a 2. And she’s super smart too- she didn’t deserve a 2.
What do you want school was canceled, people are out here like “omg I can’t believe this actual crisis of a pandemic that we are in is like actually affecting my education” you can’t be a begging chooser and think that you can have school be affected by the pandemic but not your ap class what privilege do they have that I don’t know about to keep teaching students at home because my school certainly doesn’t have that privilege
@@joneatsbagels7239 Exactly, the College Board should have made a better effort to be equitable if education is actually what their goal is. IB canceled tests and some colleges stopped requiring SAT scores, although the SATs are a whole different College Board beast - that shizzle stanky
10th grade AP World History students also had to learn to according a brand new curriculum layout this year, already with minimal resources to use to study. Heimler's History RUclips channel did a demo of their test DBQ in 45 minutes to model for the students how to pace themselves and it took him more than one try to get himself a passing grade in the allowed time. AN EXPERIENCED AP TEACHER WITH AN ENTIRE ONLINE CLASSROOM ARCHIVE AND REVIEW ORGANIZER FOR THE NEW CURRICULUM COULDN'T PASS THE EXAM WITHOUT A RETAKE. That's not a slight against Heimler, he's great. That test was framed so poorly since they chopped off the last few units for this year so the students didn't get to learn anything after the Industrial Revolution unless their teacher wanted to cover them even though they were NOT going to be on the test, which would put students taking that test at a disadvantage. How about you cancel the exams and let the students get their complete education fairly? WWII, the Creation of Israel, the Cold War, Tensions in the Middle East, Apartheid, Globalization, ALL of it was deemed non-essential to the testing and therefore discouraged to cover in the final quarter of classes, distance learning regardless. Most of the time in quarter 4 ended up being an online version of the greatest hits of other quarters for APWH, and for what? A timecrunched DBQ with an awkward rubric and means of submissoon for students that don't have a catalogue of proper materials to study from.
@@joneatsbagels7239 I wanted the AP students to get a complete curriculum. The gen ed students got to learn about everything because they didn't have to study to a test that chopped off the end of their education. I'd rather the AP test get cancelled and the students have a complete curriculum via distance learning than the other way around.
College Board removed their old information, so my teacher had nothing to teach us off of. She could also not access the new information they posted and ended up cursing out one of the College Board workers in the classroom (we took AP Eng. Lang.).
I remember last year my teacher had to go through a painful meeting to get a sample test. Funny thing is that I found it on the internet when I googled ap lit test
Omfg. Not a world I want to live in😭 honestly I wouldn't be shocked if collegeboard started selling something like "grade packs" like lootboxes, you just keep buying them until you pass or go broke😭
I 100% had an advantage. I'm an only child with very understanding parents so for silence my parents were kind enough to sit in the backyard while I took my exams (which I appreciated very much). Additionally, I don't need any testing accommodations like a 504. I had a very stable connection thr entire time AND I was on the second week so I was significantly less worried about not being able to submit. For other students this is an injustice
Same here. I'm also an only child with a good wifi connection, and although I'm constantly worried about their health, both of my parents also worked while I was taking all my AP tests. One of my closest friends had to deal with his dad bothering him while he was doing his exam. CollegeBoard doesn't realize how dense some parents can be.
Same here my parents cleaned their office so I had a nice place to take the test and my mom made some delicious coffee ice cream thing for me to drink while I took the test. I had a stable WiFi connection and my parents were quiet.
I’m an only child with exceptional wifi and parents who know I’m taking a test, and I had a 504 so I got 100% extra time. I was able to finish my entire DBQ for APUSH and all of the stuff for AP Physics A, and that stuff was gnarly. I also live on the west coast of the US, so I basically got all the advantages, and it was hard. I sympathize with all of you that had hard times, but I am personally grateful that I can’t empathize.
It was pretty rough for me, I have 3 siblings and i share a room with my little brother and i had him screaming to his friends about fortnite the entire time i was taking my exam and couldn't focus and ended up not finishing in that absurdly small amount of time
CTHD slight correction. Most of Americans systems make you realistically only have one shot. College if you don’t make it through on scholarships alone the debt is too much to be an option for most people so if you make too many mistakes that’s not an option anymore ( and with crap like this it is inevitable) prisons are designed to punish and end up making it extremely hard for people to turn over a new leaf ( if you got a felony on record you most likely ain’t getting a job so back to stealing you go) jobs will often look for minor infractions to fire you for after one mistake ( good bosses that won’t do this exist but still it’s not good that one minor mistake will lead to them digging up policy they never enforce to fire you in some cases)
That won't happen soon actually, cause 1) CB is monopolist yet 2) CB is trusted by both schools and universities/colleges, so if there would be an another one, it might take a long time in order to boost its popularity
heh, those laws are well over-due for some amendments so all the other corporations can be split. guess there's another special exclusion besides big pharma to be nailed up the ass as so deserved. curious who else has a "you can technically have a monopoly despite a law saying it's illegal to have monopolies" ...
I graduated this year. I took the AP Lang exam my junior year. I got an essay prompt about things that are considered problematic. I wrote about standardized testing. Needless to say I did not pass Thanks for the likes loves 💖
i took it too! i didn’t finish the second half of the first question. i have terrible anxiety, and i was FREAKING OUT a little bit despite their “you can still get a 5!” bullshit
I took it too and suffice to say my panicked last five minutes of trying to take a picture of my drawn answers with my phone, upload them to my google drive, then download them to my computer and then upload them to CB’s site was a wasted effort because I still have to retake it anyway :)
college board kicked my apes teacher out of his account, and upon receiving his email, they had the audacity to tell him that he'd just have to go without a college board account all year. it's bad enough for him as a teacher, but for us students it's now impossible to get our hands on certain materials.
High school students, if you don’t do well on AP tests, it’s perfectly okay! Don’t beat yourselves up about it. A lot of college/university professors aren’t out to purposely trick you on exams like these tests do. I’m a junior in uni with a 3.6 gpa and I barely squeaked by with 3’s on my ap tests (art, eng lit, and stats). NO exam I’ve taken in college has been as long, confusing, or complex as an AP test. They’re not “college level” classes-they’re BS. College board is just out for your money. Try to dual enroll at a local community college to get your gen-Ed’s done instead. It’ll save you a load of money and get you exposed to professors who actually care if you learn the material.
Thank you for this advice! I’m an upcoming senior of the 2021 high school class and i’m scheduled to be taking 7 AP courses next year. It’s a relief that future college course exams aren’t going to be as confusing or painful as AP exams. I’m currently trying to take some courses at a local community college in order to recieve some college credit, as my school does not offer dual enrollment :-( The whole process is very confusing, so I can only hope for the best.
I agree, I was in the same boat. Gen-eds in college are easier than AP courses. But if I took that advice I'd still be in AP courses as well, because as you know, the average curriculum was painful in a different way.
I totally agree. I had fun in the classes, but I say EFF those AP Exams. The only reason I didn’t dual enroll was because I didn’t have a way to getting to the college. I knew people who graduated early because they played their cards right with dual enrollment. It’s an awesome opportunity and less stressful than AP classes. Let’s not forget that you’re essentially guaranteed the credit as long as you pass the class, and it’s pretty much free. Take advantage of it. You’ll learn more in the end in my opinion.
I don't have a strong footing to say this but I agree I recently graduated and took the piles of shit that are the ap tests (and was somehow blessed) i have been consistently told I've been good an have a had relative ease in my classes (this all the evidence I have on my academic prowess) and even when the test were the best them made me feel like a dumbass so yeah don't worry about the the test they are bullshit
AP bio and AP Lang student here. This video revived my soul and I want it tattooed on my forehead. I hope the CB drowns in the amount of tears that were shed during the bio exam and from all the kids who couldn’t submit their answers.
they removed ALL the writing sections in the AP Spanish class so it was all spoken and like, 15 minutes long - so if you had grown up speaking Spanish at home, but had never written a single word in Spanish in their life. they could have gotten a five.. - not to mention someone else could have just... spoken instead of you
[Bread] [Sticks] I saw another video on this. Apparently this was their method of "cheat protection". They make the tests so compact that you barely have enough time to complete them, preventing students from Googling answers...
I took that test, I’m a freshman and surprisingly I passed. I wasn’t sure if I did because the questions made no sense at all. It was extremely confusing. We were given such little information. I realize that AP Tests are just scams
I took APHG exam this year, it was HORRIBLE. I somehow was the only one in my grade to get a 5, and I can assure you, Im not the smartest student or anything. Not only that but in the first FRQ I answered 2/4 and in the second FRQ I answered 3/5. Assuming that what I did manage to answer was correct, then HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I GOT A 5 WHEN THE MAXIMUM I COULD HAVE GOTTEN WITH WHAT I ANSWERED WAS A DAMN 3. When I saw the results yesterday, I didn't even feel happy, just plain confused at how they actually graded these exams.
@@danasc7041I know. I got a three. But a lot of people I know failed. My friend told me she followed specific way of answering, for example if they asked to "identify" that meant to give an example and explain or something like that. She got a four. Maybe you did the same thing subconsciously or just new how to answer how they wanted?
I took the AP World History (WHAP) test. It was pretty awful tbh since we weren't prepared at all for it but I somehow pulled a 4 out of my ass. In my class we barely went over DBQ since a lot of the test was SUPPOSED to be multiple choice but the test was only one DBQ question.
Dude for my APUSH exam, the same shit happened, except my teacher was so fucking garbage that I remember one day as he was about to go over how to write a DBQ, someone in the class asked his opinion about the Chic-fil-a sandwich vs. the Popeyes sandwich and got completely off topic for 30 minutes. When it was getting toward test time he was saying how unprepared everyone was and how we needed to more attention, this fuck threatened to give me a "referral" for insubordination when I start asking him about that time he wasted 30 minutes talking about chicken sandwiches or the countless other times he just sat there and put on a movie while the whole class did busy work multiple choice questions IN AN AP CLASS, THAT WE PAID FOR.
2 people passed my APUSH (Such a stupid fucking abbreviation that only instills rage in me because we were practically forced to use it.) test... 2 out of a class of probably around 20 students. The only thing I can thank some sort of higher power for is that I didn't have to pay for that waste of my time. I was one of the ones that failed the test by the way, but I finished the class with a b+ average, poor teacher honestly had no idea what was going to be on that test.
One of my friends’ internet went out during the 30 minutes before the test and had to run to his friends down the street and take it in their basement, lmao
@@forloop7713 a lot of them are timed essays, so although college board allowed test takers to use outside information, using it took wayyyy too much time.
@@forloop7713 they have a time limit so short you dont really have time to look most of it up and still answer. For example in my AP bio one this year the first question had parts A-J (not a typo) with only 25 minutes to answer (edit): plus for that test most the answers required knowlege on multiple biological concepts, often from completley different units, so they weren't very Google-able.
I remember after you pressed "Start" you had to wait for a timer of over an hour so you could read the rules. I ended up playing Halo: Reach in another window, because it was just so pointless. I also ended up getting more out of that than I did the test, because I still don't have my results.
You know, that was actually a really smart thing to do. Instead of wasting your time waiting to actually start your exam which could take up to 30 minutes or an hour, you did something that made you happy.
The AP music theory Test was disgusting. You had to record 2 long and complicated bars on your phone, and somehow get it on the computer in under 20 minutes EDIT: I still haven’t got my results (was supposed to get them a week ago) EDIT 2: so back in August I was notified that they didn’t get my test (even though I sent it twice) THEY NEGLECTED TO TELL ME THIS UNTIL FUCKING AUGUST. Needless to say I was not studying for it all over again
Yeah sight singing this year must've sucked for kids who don't play an instrument because if you do, you are basically garunteed a perfect score for that part
Ian MacDonald almost. I play a flute and I had trouble reading the bass clef so those who play piano or any instrument that reads in both clefs get a free pass on both instead of just one. Although just having an instrument at all gives us an unfair advantage. My music teacher commented on how allowing instruments no longer makes it a true sight singing question
@@chubbywolfer8703 Are you not expected to know bass clef for music theory class? Not trying to be condescending, I'm from Australia and for our music classes we need to know treble and bass clef so I'm just curious as to how it works in America.
yeah it SUCKED. luckily i could record on my (school issued) laptop, but i had to take the pictures of the paper with my phone. didn’t have enough time for the second half of the first question and i was freaking out a bit.
@@inigo4937 i think its just disorienting trying to transcribe between clefs when the instrument is read in a single one, especially if you dont do it often. its like trying to play tenor clef on the cello: you can read it but not that quickly cause it isnt as natural
Thank you for the AP Bio mention! I took AP Bio this year and we were told that THREE F**KING UNITS were removed that we had learned while the two units that were included were taught DURING QUARANTINE
Yes because college board couldn’t possibly comprehend that your friend actually studied to get a better score. It’s impossible with their intelligence
So I've taken AP exams in Braille as long as I've been in High school. We asked for accommodations this year and College Board, the lovely lot of them...they approved me for the use of a reader. If you can't tell, having an exam read to you, whether you're blind or not, is absolutely AWFUL! I decided not to take the exam at the last minute....
A day ago I got a survey from the college board basically asking how my AP tests went. I ripped them apart, but I really wish I could have just linked this video. Perfectly sums up everything I hate about the college board.
I got that survey and fully called them out for their haphazard testing "solution" and how it seems that they only administered them to prevent loss of revenue. Let's hope that they don't put our names in a special file now...
I ripped them apart in the post test "tell us about your experience" survey. I swear I took more time writing my response than I did taking the physical test because we were only given 45 goddamn minutes
This year, I took the AP French exam. Important thing to note: I'm literally fluent in French. Not only did they make me pay too much for two questions, but I also had to pay a "late fee" even though I submitted my money well before the final date, and well before exams were even close to being ordered. So this was 180$ (CAD) which is already ridiculous, especially because it turns out the exam was online. I still decide to do the exam. Come the testing day, I do the exam, everything goes smoothly, but a week or so later, my teacher calls me saying she never got my answers... Well fuck. Turns out, even though nothing went wrong with my exam and it said I was all good and stuff, they still never got sent to College board. So I have to do the rewrite. Oh, also, the original exam was on May 21st... The retest was on JUNE MF 29TH, which is past the date that marks can be sent to Colleges/universities lol, so it's pointless if that was your goal (for me, I wasn't sending my marks anywhere though so 🤷). I still decide to do the retest. I think I do decently, but I don't feel as good about it as my first one. After this exam, I STILL don't know whether or not the board got my results; I got no emails, no confirmation anythings, nothing! And no one is contacting me about it either, like anyone locally. So now I'm wondering, "did I just absolutely waste 180$ for this fuxking garbage exam?". Turns out, they did get my answers this time and I saw my score. Keep in mind what I said earlier: I'm literally fluent in French, but I got a 4. The exams, especially this year, do not only poorly test your knowledge of an entire subject by only testing you on a singular aspect and potentially a topic you just are bad at, plain and simple, but they are NOT a good representation of your knowledge of the subject. I feel scammed and then ended up w a mark that doesn't reflect my actual knowledge of the subject, so I can't even talk about it/show it to people without having to explain the whole catastrophe that is AP college Board
The world needs more people like you who have the balls to stand up against corporate bullies who profit off the misfortune of others. I hope your message spreads far and wide, and hopefully we will see the demise of college board soon.
@@paulwhite484 agreed. It's the education system in general. Straight up the only way to fix it is by making education free or near free by taxing the rich heavily. College costs way too damn much. It's the government's fault that they have not make college affordable in America, and then College board came in to save kids money, making their profit margins instead of having it go to colleges. The colleges deserve to have money to work, but that money shouldn't come directly out of the pockets of students cause it's too much.
Liam Mitchell guaranteed student loans are the problem that causes colleges to be expensive. Taxing the rich is a bs dream that’ll never happen in the US
Liam Mitchell you do know that “taxing the rich” isn’t the solution to everything? Wealth taxes don’t work either, social democrats like Norway have more generous taxes on rich people than America.
I had to take my retest yesterday in the middle of a Lowe's because I'm currently away from home. And I wouldn't have had to take the retest in the first place if they had chosen a better way to test students, as I was unable to submit my work the first time
@@nolancarr6725 I live in Texas, but I was househunting with my parents in the mountains of Tennessee, and the Airbnb we were staying at didn't have wifi, and there was pretty much no service, and when there was it was very unreliable. So we had to try to find somewhere to go with either wifi or good service, which was hard considering most places are shut down due to Covid. I didn't even know my retest had been confirmed until we were already leaving for Tennessee so it was just bad timing.

They said they surveyed about 18,000 kids, which sounds like a lot until you realize that on average about MILLIONS of kids take AP exams (in 2018 about 4 million), meaning that they only surveyed about a tiny fraction of students who took AP tests...yeah
But in AP Stats one of the rules for sampling is that your sample is 10% of the population or less....so the sample size should be fine. It just matters how they took the sample, if they only focused on one region or something or only sampled volunteers.
I'm legally blind They gave me double time and it wasnt even close to enough I struggled to submit my answers after struggling to read and actually do the work Big scam, probably got a 2 F
I heard that they’re getting sued for filing the ada because they refused to provide the accommodations students actually need. Hope you get a chunk of that
Want to feel a little better? I rickrolled college board on the practice exams. Remember those online practice tests where you went through the submission motions to ensure everything worked? Well, we could send in a picture, so whether or not anyone saw it, I wrote out the lyrics to Rick Astley's never gonna give you up in my notebook and submitted them over multiple tests. They said to write about anything(:
I could’ve bought that the subreddit was real until someone posted “Hey, let’s all post our real names and test ids on this cheating subreddit in order to cheat better!”
They actually did try it, and a good few obviously fell for it...They had me in the first half, then the 'a little anonymous cooperation' set off red flags everywhere. I'm just glad some people realized what it was and immediately started shitposting on it instead of what they demanded instead...Very unfortunate for those that did fall for it though: That might've ruined some careers alone.
Alli Stull originally you had until mid-spring semester to reach the deadline, but a couple years ago they changed it to where you only have until october, anything after is a ridiculously inflated late fee
YEAH so many people signed up for the ap calc exam and since the class started out easy but in actuality we had no idea how hard calc would be and were now signed up for a shit show of a test
I've been anti-College Board for years now. I refused to take any AP classes during the 2019 - 2020 school year and it certainly paid off it seems. I'm glad this evil organization is getting exposed as such, if only on a small scale.
Also don’t forget that kids with learning disabilities got no extra time or help.... I had to write a DBQ in 45 minutes with my extremely dyslexic mind. Let’s just say I didn’t finish and college board will get to see some amazing word vomit on my test
I can't focus on a computer screen for more than 10 minutes at a time while using higher brain functions without getting frustrated and confused. My eyes are sensitive so doing that hurt. I didn't even like using the computers at school and then they put the whole fucking test online. All of my hope went out of the fucking window the second they told us what the test were going to be.
That's super weird... I have really bad ADHD and can't focus to save my life, and they gave me 50% more time. Did you or your school coordinate extra time allowance in advance and the college board just ignored it?
I’ll never forget when I retook the AP Human geo test and the material was solely over a textbook that hadn’t been released in my state yet and none of my instructors were warned so the entire class minus a few lucky people failed. College board sucks. So glad I dodged 2020 testing rip I’m in uni now and I feel so bad for the kids who had to go through this :(
The AP Human Geo test wasn’t hard, it was just unnecessary. My teacher was stressing out, telling us all the information college board gave him and gave us all the the study material months before. I’m really happy he did that, a lot of kids are getting screwed over by teachers who didn’t give a darn about the test, and basically failed them before they started.
No way! Was this the 2017 version where they made "urban planning" an FRQ topic? I'm from Chicago and I know that small addition ( diff. from other years) completely screwed so many high schools.
Cristian Carpio OMG YES !! I’m from TX and I just wanted a higher score bc I went to one of those “if you don’t do it perfectly, you’re a failure” schools. Yet they proceeded to not tell the instructors or the students of the changes in material 🙄
I took the AP Human Geography test, and I probably failed. But that's entirely on me, not College board. I have some friends who have had bad experiences, though.
Took the BC Calculus exam this year and got a 2 on it. The first question was a 9 part question with one part leading to another. If you didn't know how to do part B, you were screwed for C-I
The entirety of the senior class at my local high school that was enrolled in AP classes failed and still haven't gotten any information in regards to refunds, retakes, or reconciliation by any means. "Oh look almost a hundred of the smartest kids in the school failed a class, I guess they were all cheaters," is how it's being treated by our school board and how they've been responding to parents who likely literally watched as their kids kept hitting the button crying and trying to submit to no avail. I know there's much worse things going on in this country at this very moment, but as someone who dropped out of college so I didnt kill myself bc of the stress, to see so many kids who clearly were better than I was and were meant to go places get their life plans completely fucked over by greed and incompetence just makes me so, so done with this world. It's officially a dystopia, no one decent is allowed to be happy. No one bad is being held accountable for anything.
I remember how much stress I had when my internet crashed during the AP Gov test, I was sobbing. I was just able to sumbit something with only 2 seconds left.
the ap spanish presentational speaking prompts were about public art, DRIVING, and famous people. we spent months studying education, history, immigration, agriculture, family structure, and more for some students to be asked about the importance of DRIVING. not to mention the college board doesn’t even suggest a textbook for any of the language exams and gives us 6 vague topics that our exam could be about. one year the presentational speaking was about fast food. i hate the college board.
The AP French cultural comparison was on temperature and weather. I was expecting something like history, clothing, food, something that made a bit more sense but I guess not.
Dang that's tough. Lmao when i took it back in 2018 we studied pretty much the same thing u did but the prompt was on animal rights and animal abuse. i was like huh??? ... then i pulled some baloney about something i remembered from honors bio in 9th about the galápagos being a national park or something 🤣👍
Honestly it’s really comforting to see someone else get as mad over this topic as I did. The stress of taking this test along with the stress coming with the global pandemic and the fear of not making it into college lead me to many panic attacks and emotional turmoil. Even though my test went relatively smooth the experience was awful.
When I was in high school you had the opportunity for some classes where you could take “Dual Credit” classes where a community college professor came to your school and taught a class that gave credit for both high school and college. There was no test you had to take at the end that proved you mastered the material, nor was there the ceaseless busy work that AP classes are known for because it was an actual college class. You even got Fridays off because that community college didn’t have classes on Fridays! To top it all off you didn’t even have to pay for Dual Credit because our school district had a deal with the community college! Despite all of this, more kids took AP classes than Dual Credit, and do you know why? Because the school district couldn’t report your grades from Dual Credit courses since colleges keep that information private, so naturally more AP tests taken reflected better in the district. Because of this the district actively suppressed the Dual Credit courses and did everything they could to get naive kids to take AP instead since it made them look better. If that isn’t corruption, I don’t know what is.
I am actually enrolled in a collegiate high school. It’s basically a small high school on a college campus that allows me to go to actually go to the college classes. By the time I’ll graduate, I’ll have enough for my AA. I’m surprised a lot of places don’t do this.
Dual enrollment does not transfer out of state like AP does and for some classes you have to drive to a physical campus to attend class. AP also is a lot more standardized then dual enrollment. I’ve been out of HS for a couple of years now so they might’ve changed it in my state. Now I did end up getting fucked by college board because I took AP Comp Sci Principles and literally no school in the country had an equivalent course that it could count as credit for. Collegeboard finds all sorts of ways to waste more of your time, they are like the DMV but for your educational future.
Yung Toolshed in response to your reply if the following points: The college I did my dual credit with was Austin Community College, which at the time of my participating in Dual Credit was named the number one transfer school in the state of Texas and whose credits were accepted pretty universally even out of state. As I said in my first comment, in the case of ACC Dual Credit in my school district, the ACC professors came to my high school, so we were not required to drive to another location for classes.
i was typing on a google doc for my world history dbq and i switched back to look at the documents on the testing page and saw i had 2 minutes to submit it and i accidentally exed out of the browser. i had a panic attack and almost passed out. i literally submitted with 4 seconds left.
TLDR; for the AP Bio test, your score was actually predetermined by which question you got. It was so bad, I got a 5 on the AP Bio test when I got a C- in the class. Biology was by far my worst subject. My question was about, get this: Water. Yep, Water. Just water. How water works. Barely nothing to do with Biology, almost entirely about the chemistry, and it was some of the most simple aspects of the CHEMISTRY of water, and nothing to do with biology. After the test, all the students talked about the questions and their scores. 2 other kids got the same question as me, and they both also got 5’s. In the entire rest of the class, (41 kids) only 2 other students got 5’s, and the overwhelming majority got 2 or 3, and much, much harder questions. There was one question that 6 students got, and every single student got a 1 or a 2. I can’t exactly complain, because I got the good end of the stick, but college board literally made a test so absolute shit that your score was basically determined by which question you got, not how much you knew about biology.
The worse thing for me was the fact I had to take 4 AP tests this year, and they were all absolutely massacred. Especially the AP Spanish exam, when normally they would test reading, listening, speaking, and writing + culture, they decided "Nah, we gonna give em ONLY SPEAKING, and not only that, a literal 15 minute speaking exam, an exam whose contents students had barely any time to practice and get used to. Furthermore, speaking is by majority, the WORSE aspect students have in a world language.
@@PhartingFeeting If I remember correctly, the collegeboard app recorded our audio really weirdly, it was like it was looping our input audio through the speakers and then recording that, which resulted in some of the most potato mic quality I have ever heard in my life, so I dunno if even an xbox mic could be worse than what I heard playing back to me.
I know! I was so confused to hear my voice compressed to fucking Saturn on a phone that came out 2 yrs ago???????? And then the timer that started during the directions and didnt show you when you had to stop?????
Goldlight101 exactly!!! Everyone i know who took it described an interview. All year we trained with CONVERSATIONS, not interviews. It made it much more difficult to show understanding of conversational phrases. No exclamations, greetings, etc. why.
i have dyslexia and ADHD and college board 'forgot' to give me my extra time that they were supposed to give me, and since its not a public school, but a private company, i cant do shit about me failing my AP exam.
It's not because they're a private company. Public schools don't give a shit about the students, either. It's the fact that both public schools and the private companies that serve them are shielded from competition from alternatives. When you're the only game in town, you can treat people any way you want with little fear of reprisal. Two examples: 1. My parents are divorced and split time 50/50 when we were kids. My sister is special needs, and when the kids were with my dad, it would be hard getting everyone to school on time. The school told my brother it was his responsibility to be there on time, despite the fact that he was a high school kid with no driver's license living with Dad a few towns over. My parents were regularly called to meetings about his attendance despite the fact that the school knew full well what was going on. 2. If schools exist for the benefit of the students, it's interesting that they don't allow high school students much of a decision on what they want to learn. I was very into creative writing and making models with SketchUp. Some of them came out pretty great. I had one awesome English teacher who accepted a screenplay I wrote as a grade, but aside from that, the focus was on bending me to their will. Instead of encouraging me, they tried to force me to complete their prescribed curriculum because "hey, life's not fair and we can't let everyone be writers". Fine, but don't say your job exists for our benefit. Don't have kids unless you can afford to homeschool them. If you don't know a subject, take the time to learn _with_ them. Let your kids play with other kids from different age groups. Don't take any help from the public school if they offer it, because then they still have you by the balls.
I was supposed to get extra time too,but I didnt get it so I was practicing with like 90 minutes to do it and then getting only 45 minutes to do it. I'm pretty sure I turned the paper work in too. Edit: I also got the email saying that they didnt receive anything when I did the copy and paste for the whap exam.
Bro I don't know what'd I do if that were me. I took the AP history exam and everyone else had 45 minutes. It took me 30 minutes to finish analyzing the documents. I WOULD HAVE DIED (I also have ADHD). I think the only reason they remembered to email me was because I pretty much PESTERED everyone in charge of handling it... FOR 6 MONTHS!!! It shouldn't have to take someone 6 MONTHS to know whether or not they'll be given the proper procedures to have a level playing field. Dude, I am so sorry. Collegeboard fucking sucks. I hope you never gave to deal with any bullshit like that again.
as someone who took ap exams that year, I noticed something interesting with the AP biology exam: there were questions that were actually *impossible* to answer. I remember one section spent two pages giving context to a question that was on one topic and then the questions that followed were a completely different topic. I remember reading through the section about 4 times wondering what the hell I was supposed to do, but eventually I just chose an answer at random and had to move on. there were MULTIPLE questions throughout the exam that genuinely were so mismatched with the information given that they were just impossible:/
I have poured my entire YEAR into my AP history class. I was overloaded with 2-3 assignments a day. Free time, hobbies, weekends, decent meals, a quick chat, sleep, and... even to some extent, emotions where out of my reach. I broke down from the sheer gravity of the workload thrice. About 3 months later, I was taking the test... which gave me a topic that I didn't even study... All this build up, all the $94, all the breakdowns, all that wasted time led up to an absolute disappointment. To hear it might not even be graded too. That's a good 8 or so months that I'll never get back...
I mean I agree that 90+ dollars for like one DBQ is a total ripoff. And I totally feel for you, as I also took an AP history class this year (this is a huge oof man, my prayers are with you). But they can't really do anything about the fact that you got a topic you dont know. I do suppose it's still really shitty because the exam format makes it so that all the other you have on history was not taken into account, but the overwhelming majority of students who were surveyed said they still wanted a chance to take the AP exam.
Actually, disregard my comment, college board is stupid for not letting students balance out their weaknesses with their strengths based on what they know
DUDE SAAAME I could've done so good on my government exam and get better passing scores for lit and psych but I did so bad in my gov frq I got a stupid 1 and the thing is I know the subject really well which disappointed further These exams were stupid this year I would've preferred to take the normal and elongated paper exam 😔
Jayden Parrott i had straight A+’s for AP Euro but got a 1 on the exam bc our teacher didn’t teach us how to right a DBQ until we were in online schooling, leaving it to us to teach ourselves, undoubtedly setting us up for failure.

My sister who went to U of Iowa said the same thing, she took like 5 ap classes and they didn’t accept any of them
Look into potential middle college programs too! Some schools allow you to take your junior and/or senior year at community college which can be transferred to state colleges and universities.
I can't believe I wasted time and money on AP US History only to be pigeonholed into a degree that I will barely even use after college.

It’s good but it’s not even a fraction of what they make, they’ll make it back by next year or just in a few.
due to the pandemic they basically may be able to plead force majeure over the whole situation, pretty much exemplifying them from responsibility. i really hope that doesn’t happen though, the test was a nightmare
drop in the bucket, even if it does succeed, and they'll likely settle out of court anyway because that's just how the world works :(
It won't go through.

Yeah I took human geo last semester so when I took the exam all the information was common knowledge. I don’t remember having to be taught that stuff.
FRQ’s were like that when I took the Human Geo test normally last year lol, it’s not much different.
"...Expected me to write a page and a half about something that can be explained in 2 sentences..."
That's the first taste of the bull shit that is writing academic papers in the format for professional journals.
Human Geo is easy af. You'll get it done, dont worry
Did you pass though? I’m curious
I almost died to the fucking flu during my junior year studying for AP World and guess who now understands that they have a compromised immune system
Rachel Carlyle that should’ve happened to the collegeboard people
My really smart friend was a complete AP Euro nerd and knew everything there was to know about it. He got the hardest DBQ prompt on the test and got a 2 out of 5. I knew a lot less than him and managed to get the easiest prompt and got a 5 out of 5.
How does that happen
Smart?

They got their money; that's what matters.

Thats true but I aint tryna get beat by my dad. He already ripped my head off for getting a 3 in seminar (which is a MAJOR bullshit class btw)

You're kidding yourself if you actually think they are going to read your responses.
PsychicF still feels good to rip into them, great stress relief lol
@@victorsimionato6563 fair enough
Yes, and say goodbye to our college credit 😀

Report cheating huh?
"Hello college board, I'd like to report YOU for ripping off tons of kids and cheating them of their future"
They said they surveyed about 18,000 kids, which sounds like a lot until you realize that on average about MILLIONS of kids take AP exams (in 2018 about 4 million), meaning that they only surveyed about a tiny fraction of students who took AP tests...yeah
Looks like the guy who made the survey failed AP Stats
But in AP Stats one of the rules for sampling is that your sample is 10% of the population or less....so the sample size should be fine. It just matters how they took the sample, if they only focused on one region or something or only sampled volunteers.
Like Paige said, the sample size is fine. What matters is what their sampling method was.
I was actually one of the people surveyed. My school sent me a google doc I had to fill out or something as to whether or not I wanted to do exams.
Paige Dixon looks like someone got a 5 on AP stats! (This is not sarcasm this is a real compliment)

Wait really? Did they actually think that would work?
The Coffe Man idk what they thought, but it’s talked about in the video.

Shadow Blaze Doge same
If you didn't know how to do part B, you were screwed for C-I
Not to mention that when things went wrong college board didn't notify students through official emails opting for social media posts instead

I saw a video of a guy that was barely able to submit one with 4 seconds left lol
@@Meewee466 I came from that video too, this is depressing.
Do you already know your results? Or is mostly everyone failing because of their shitty way of submitting work?
I remember how much stress I had when my internet crashed during the AP Gov test, I was sobbing. I was just able to sumbit something with only 2 seconds left.
the ap spanish presentational speaking prompts were about public art, DRIVING, and famous people. we spent months studying education, history, immigration, agriculture, family structure, and more for some students to be asked about the importance of DRIVING. not to mention the college board doesn’t even suggest a textbook for any of the language exams and gives us 6 vague topics that our exam could be about. one year the presentational speaking was about fast food. i hate the college board.
Took mine yesterday, the cultural comparison was vague asf and was hard to get examples for
I also took the test, but the prompt was different for me. It was about phones. ;-;
my topic was about vegans and vegetarians 😭
My AP teachers even realized and pointed out how corrupted college board was
My teacher did the same way back in 2018, seems this has been going on for a while.
I took dual credit German in my junior and senior years of high school, some of my fondest memories tbh
I took dual credit courses and it prepared me more for college than AP tests ever did.
Yung Toolshed in response to your reply if the following points:
The college I did my dual credit with was Austin Community College, which at the time of my participating in Dual Credit was named the number one transfer school in the state of Texas and whose credits were accepted pretty universally even out of state.

Jackson Herrera the prompt I had was about how environment affected imperialism
Agreed the thing that stuck with me more in Spanish class was reading the words rather than speaking them.

:( im sorry that happened to you
It's not because they're a private company. Public schools don't give a shit about the students, either. It's the fact that both public schools and the private companies that serve them are shielded from competition from alternatives. When you're the only game in town, you can treat people any way you want with little fear of reprisal.
Two examples:
I hope you never gave to deal with any bullshit like that again.
this exactly happened to me. they didn’t give me my extended time that i was listed to have. i have to retake it tmm.

as someone who took ap exams that year, I noticed something interesting with the AP biology exam: there were questions that were actually *impossible* to answer.
