    Swapping parts is one thing, but your meticulous focus on detail is what makes your work special, and why I always enjoy your videos.

  • @OcamRzr
    @OcamRzr 7 месяцев назад +7

    Your attention to detail is incredible but you know the best part is when you finally show the car and some Toyota geek will stare at the rear and "KNOW" there is something "DIFFERENT" but won't be able to figure out what it is until you tell/show them. 😁 Love seeing the updates! 👍

    I have been a mechanic for 49 years , I always like your channel ,
    when I was your age , I would also change out parts to make the
    car different . But now that I am older , I know the extensive work
    involved in those projects, and I would now prefer to choose the
    vehicle I like , and leave it factory stock.

    • @FayeHadley
      @FayeHadley  7 месяцев назад +6

      I can absolutely see the value in that, too! My Mk5 Supra is mostly stock aside from a couple small things, and I love appreciating it as it is, from the factory! Thank you so much for watching:))

  • @rushnerd
    @rushnerd 6 дней назад

    Not sure if you will see this, Faye, but I did the EXACT SAME THING on my 88 Supra while swapping the back end out for 89+ parts.
    I literally thought I was the only person to do this and put the 88 trim back on and this makes me feel amazing.
    I spent a long time just sanding down the 89+ piece to make the 88 trim seat flush, but it's still like an inch raised from the rest of the trim. You did it right. Incredible.

  • @lpscruggsiii
    @lpscruggsiii 3 месяца назад

    Nicely done Faye. Your knowing is the key. Professionals do things right to make it "seem" as if it was "from the factory". The folks who "know" know. 100%. You killed it !!!

    This video is nothing short of stellar. I love my cars 100% stock but I have to admit that since the trim was reused from a 1987 you did the best job to incorporate the new tailight design with the older model's trim. Awesome! 🥰 I do have to ask because you've played that background song/music in a past short and i'm dieing to find out who it is?? It's so catchy and addictive! Song and title would be much appreciated.

    These are my favourite kind of videos. I just love to watch other people pull on threads and see the thought process behind how they approach the problem then execute the job. It is so fascinating to watch. And so reassuring and encouraging to see someone follow through rather than give up and take an easier route if/when it all unravels. Just the right kind of inspiration. Hard to do but so worth the effort, and it looks soooo gooood. Fantastic.

    Now back to the idea of trim replace and repair. Sometimes clips and tabs are broken.

    I gotta ask; those 'parts cars' looks solid enough to be on the road again. What the story/plan regarding those if I may ask.
    7:11 I had a door molding fly off while driving in SoCal not too long ago. It was a busy, fast traffic area, so I couldn't just casually walk up and grab it. After several u-turn cycles driving back and forth on the same street (must have been at least 10 complete cycles, if not 20), I finally found an opportunity to stop quickly, open the driver door, reach for the trim, and drive off. All of this was probably in a span of 5 seconds. The trim has some road rash now, but it was still worth it since they are so hard to come by. 🙂

    Looks fantastic. I love 303 products. They just work. For adhesive on trim, 3M makes a very very strong adhesive meant for badges and such. My RX300 didn't have any of the badges on the back when I got it, so I bought some on ebay for $12 and bought some of that adhesive. It all went super smooth, except for the main Lexus badge... somehow I smeared some of the adhesive inside of the logo on the body paint... I have no idea how to clean it up. I'm not worried about it though. It is great adhesive though. It will make anything stick. It's really thick and clear and acts a lot like honey. Love this supra project! Makes me miss my 89. I found myself with the SAME problem on my 1987 Turbo targa back around 2009 lol.... I ended up "peeling" the pre-89 trim off of the backing (JUST the super thin, flexible veneer, i used a heat gun to remove it) and the double sided-taped it to the 89+ trim. It looked surprisingly good, and lasted for another five years until I sold the car.

    Great video Faye. It sounds like you have a lot of patience and steady hands to work with the older plastic parts. I've had my fair share of those type of parts break on me. I bet there are some people out there that could 3D print some of those trims parts. The license plate holder area may be a big of challenge as you would need much bigger 3D printer, but it could be done. =)

    That is going to be one sweet ride when you finish it Faye I can't wait to see the finished product! In the future I want to see you build an old Toyota Landcruiser one of the old 70's models that looked a lot like Jeeps. Keep that in mind for any future content that would also be a sweet build and would love to see what you come up with on an off road beauty as the old off road legends like those:P

    Holy hell this is ridiculous. Any toyota people who tells me about why my bimmers are inferior because parts are tricky to replace is getting referred to this video lol.

    I swear your navy blue Supra looks so close to the one I built, it's got a very similary navy blue. The tall tale is that I removed the molding and welded the holes in the sides to make it smooth all the way on the sides of the car.
