Thanks for this Anthony and crew, removing it from the bracket makes it so much easier to tighten and clean properly. Those plastic threads collect dirt and always sound 'gritty' so I gave them a clean with a toothbrush and a small screwdriver then lubricated them with some silicone spray and it threaded up nicely. Cheers!

Talking about savings on buying none genuine. My missus wanted me to start teaching her how to service her car. She has a diesel i30. Genuine fuel filter was $152 and ryco was $49. Not to mention you need ten arms and legs to get the bloody thing unbolted.

2013 hilux - Yes I had fun and games trying to get the locking ring to line up properly on the thread 🤬the old old filter was 6 months old and was a bit black with impurities from the diesel fuel , and yes I noticed that there was a sediment in the bottom of the filter canister which I cleaned out.

Greasing it and using a band tool designed to remove oil filters to tighten the filter ring made it a lot easier.
