My husband proposed to me in a cemetery. At my parents' resting place. He wanted to get "their blessing". It might seem weird to some but I loved it.
Not weird at all. That's actually really sweet. 🤗
Very heart touching.
No. That's pretty cool.
I think it's beautiful 😊❤
I think that is really sweet of him to think of your mom and dad during that moment.
Old English cemetery’s are just full of history like stepping back in time … the history of England and the uk is incredible ❤
But the future looks very bleak
@@lc5382 Yes it does, thanks to the allah akbars
Very much so!! England is so old. I live in the US but I find England’s history a lot more fascinating. I would love to go visit one of the cemeteries before I die.
"I have crossed oceans of time to find you ..." Oh Gary Oldman, you're an artist! ❤
' Look what your god has done to me !' lol
"All right, you old perv, you found me! Now, what you want?"
'children of the night . what beautiful music they make '
@@zcam1969 love that line 🤗💖❗
@@TrashBoat1911 i like when Bela Lugosi said it .
Fun fact: Gary Oldman took the role of Dracula solely because he got to say the line “I’ve crossed oceans of times to find you” ooooh chills frfr 😊
That's interesting, I never knew that
I love that line....my recently deceased husband used to whisper that to me.....I miss him terribly!! 😢
Dracula is a romantic
@@user-ty2xv6xw8jI’m so sorry.
I love cemeteries. They are so peaceful and serene. When I travel somewhere, I will look for cemeteries nearby to check out. They hold memory and history, and the older the better
The Necropolis in Glasgow is a stunning place
This cemetery is hauntingly beautiful. My Mother always use to tell me that cemeteries were the safest place to be.
Certainly the most serene. I love them.
Yep - cemeteries are so safe people are dying to get in!
Those walkways arent grave stones repurposed, theyre actually graves where people are buried! The ones inside are the same, people buried into the foundations. Isnt that so cool? The cemetery in our town has a number of unique and interesting graves you guys might love to see and the church itself is gorgeous.
Eewwwwwww creepy
I think the outside stones aren't actual graves. It was a common problem in old graveyards with limited space, as to what to do with old graves when space was needed for new ones. The remains would be dug up and deposited in an ossuary, while the markers would be "upcycled" in some way. Obviously not all the old bodies were moved, hence the famous gravedigger scene in Hamlet where they find a skull.
The decorations on the vampire headstone along with the 2 names reminded me of this line in a Leonard Cohen song. "And when we fell together all our flesh was like a veil
That I had to draw aside to see
The serpent eat its tail."

When you all leave the front doors of the closed church, the gravestone you pass in the graveyard with the shaking hands is an Odd Fellows grave. The placement of the fingers is purposeful.
It doesn't matter how many times u see a ole stone church or ole cemeteries with old creepy headstones,u always at aww.. and the tingling feelin of being there walking through them.. so beautiful and memorizing.. awesome video y'all..
If he committed suicide he would not be buried in consecrated grounds he would by tradition be buried outside the church boundaries in consecrated grounds as suicide was considered a sin
That was your sweetest video ever. I LOVE the pledges at the end. You two are meant for each other.
My uncle Ray Pearce is "buried" in the wall of the cemetery at Palma Nova in Mallorca, with a tile in his image to cover where his ashes are interred
If you continue northward, here in Newcastle there's a Congressional Medal of Honour winner in Elswick cemetery. There's a great story behind it as well.
That cemetery is EXACTLY what you picture in your mind when you think Halloween or haunted cemetery. Soooooooo NEAT.
I told my husband a long time ago , I too said, if any of us get bitten the apocalypse zombies or of a creature Vampires we get bitten together… with a pinky promise this was on 2014 when we first met my friends. Happy Halloween 🎃🖤💚🎃
The design on the " vampire" grave is stunning
love the coffin honestly
I love that skull seal atop the tombstone. If one or both of the grave's occupants are vampires, the heavy slab could be designed to seal them in.
You can 'stake' your life on it!! 🖤💀🖤☠🖤
My safe place is my local cemetery that was opened in 1838 & is, to my knowledge, the final resting place of approximately 4,000 people. I have spent many a night there when I just couldn't sleep in my own bed for whatever reason & have gone there (it's like literally a 30 minute walk away), set up a small fire in a quiet corner & just savored the peace & sheer tranquility. I've even made "friends" with a fox who, over many many months, has grown a level of trust in me where she has introduced me to her cubs. I digress. I have genuinely felt safer in the cemetery at 3am than I have EVER felt walking thru the center of town at noon!! Thank you so much for sharing this. You both have a level of respect that is refreshing & I value the way you do some research into the places you visit that reflects in your commentary because it helps foster a better appreciation of what you're sharing than just seeing it.
Something about those old tombstones that stand up like they are is just kind of eerie. Especially as they leaning too.
300 year old vampire grave.... now that's interesting!
yes
Just another nut case who drank the blood of others, but I Gaurantee he or she didn't sleep in a coffin, feared sun light, had fangs or transformed into a bat or wolf.
From what I know we only have 1 venomous snake here in the UK, that being the Adder. The bites from a Adders don't normally result in death. Being 300 years old maybe less medical facilities. In general though not fatal.
You guys are not only highly entertaining, you are also educating us in some fascinating history. You are much appreciated. Many thanks!
The Grimms Rock 🪨 🎸!!! Vampires 🧛♀️ 1720. Wow!
That grave is spectacular 😮... And you two are so cute. I did big smiles at the end 😂🧛🏼♀️🖤
Our daughter has learned to love visiting the old cemetary in Huntsville Alabama. it dates from around 1822 Our son went to school there and now works there as well. My aunt and uncle are buried there and the first time we visited our son, we went to the cemetery to find their tombstones. Our daughter was not conviced this would be interesting, but after seeing the older part of the cemetery, now enjoys walking around to see all of the unique tombstones and monuments in it.
Old grave stones are so beautiful, next time i'm in england i'll have to visit some cemeteries
That walkway is absolutely stunning and the lore in the UK is just the best. You always seem to find the most unique stories in the world, another amazing video.
I visited a certain graveyard in Kent England from birth my grand father was a kent policeman and died at 38. The cemetery became my happy place as a small child. Now I love all cemeteries and of course your channel!
Jessica is so cute...peeking out behind walls making wishes on dandelions & her perspective of the beautiful sacred resting places makes it so spooky happy...like when we all of us were kids. That's a gift. Thank you. Happy Halloween 💀👻
Did a little research: A skull with bat wings in a church monument could symbolize rebirth after death, with the skull representing death and the bat wing representing rebirth. The skull is usually depicted with feathered wings, which is a traditional medieval symbol that refers to both the inevitable and the re-creating element of death: the soul that flies to heaven. However, bat wings have a fleece, not feathers, which would have a more grim connotation. GREAT video!!
It means death comes quickly
Noo!!!- a death and then baptism into a new life evil… thats what the batwings are…
I too did a bit of googling on this. Bats appear a lot in Renaissance art, and seem to have multiple meanings, including being used as a symbol to ward off evil. The ouroboros (self-eating snake) was a pre-Christian design that again had multiple meanings, but in a Christian context it symbolised eternity and heavenly life. The 'curtain' probably symbolised the 'veil of death' that separates the living from the next world. It all adds up to the most one of the most goth tombstones imaginable.
And the snake eating it’s tail, also known as the Ouroberos represents the eternal cycle of death and rebirth in many cultures, combining this with the bat winged skull could give some credence to the vampire legend surrounding this grave, it also has dare I say it an almost Rosicrucian look to it who knows.
No a Skull with Bat wings on a church monument does not symbolize rebirth after death, no amount of research would have lead you to that conclusion beyond a silly modern claim on the Internet from someone that probably does not live in a country or city that has Churches older than the Victorian era. The Skull is simply a Momento mori.
Wow I live 2 miles from Billinge and have been following you for a few years. I had no idea that this existed. That's so cool!
There are graves of pirates buried in the grounds of St Lawrence church in Upminster in Essex
I love yall aesthetic 🤘🏻 the way you guys dress is so cool😍
Another great video to get my day started! Thanks for sharing as always!
Blood of my blood…..bone of my bone…..😍😃😃 famous line in a Scottish series……perfect for a couples bond!! ❤️❤️❤️☠️💋
They didn't bury suicides in the cemeteries, but that story is very romantic
There were get-arounds sometimes used for suicides, when the coroner's verdict would say the deceased was "of unsound mind" when they died. This meant they could still have a religious burial.
No church cemeteries didn't allow suicides and non christened people to be buried in hallowed ground. This is why secular cemeteries were opened.
They were often buried under a crossroads . To show they were in limbo , a sign of disrespect .
@@ThreadBombI hope many coroners had compassion. Grief can make you crazy.
Old stone English buildings are so beautiful.
Jessica is quite interactive in this video. The dynamics between your presentations adds a lot. Thanks.
When I was a child, I used to visit a friend in Billinge and a couple of times we went to St Aidan's church to look at the tombstones. Great to be reminded of those long ago days. Thank you, and best wishes from England.
Where abouts is this in the uk?
@@KarlChilcott-vb6ep Billinge is a small village about 20 or so miles south of the city of Liverpool in the North West of England.
East of Liverpool near St Helens
The ending of the video was the best! Thank you for giving me such a positive start to my day!
I wish we can meet you guys someday 🖤💚🎃🎃 due to my medical condition can’t really travel. Just know I follow your videos like I’m there in spirit thank you. You both are amazing people and how you both inspire me (us). Happy Halloween 🎃🖤💚🎃
Rhode Island where I live was notorious for vampires I think in the 1800’s. There’s a vampire legend of Mercy Brown who died of tuberculosis in 1892 I think. She had to be kept in an above ground crypt I think after death because it was winter and the ground was too hard to dig a grave. Mary’s body didn’t seem to decompose yet after exhumation they found two family members had gone through some decomposition so they came to the conclusion that Mary was “undead”, the term vampire wasn’t used. Mary’s heart still had blood in it. Her body didn’t decompose because of the freezer like conditions of the crypt which prevented her from decomposing.
To try to save Mary’s little brother they burned Mary’s heart and liver and mixed it with water to give to her brother to try to save him. It was the superstition of that time, to also stop the “undead” influence. Her brother died 2 months later. What was left of Mercy was buried at the cemetery at the Baptist Church in Exeter.
Mary’s farther never got tuberculosis. He lived long enough to see a vaccine made for the disease. Credit goes to Wikipedia for most of the information.
I’ve heard the dirt on Mercy’s grave is black and has stayed that way since her burial.
There are many graveyards like this throughout the UK. I have one at the end of my road. I spend a lot of time there with my dog. There's a crypt under the church with very old coffins in. The name for a person who loves old cemeteries is tombstone tourist or taphophile.
An Undead Love Pact keeps keeps a relationship alive. 🩶
Did you say Billinge? Wow, you're actually in a place that's apart of my home town. Welcome.
Surprise!
@@grimmlifecollectivegrey friars is an awesome cemetary
I do everything in cemeteries….i wrote an entire album in a cemetery, now my wife and daughters love finding old ones, kinda a family affair now…beautiful places and each headstone is literally like a book of some one’s life….
You two are so perfect for each other! 🧛♂️🧛♀️
You guys are kicking Demon's Asses with these videos! Its tough to make these daily yet you guys make it look easy... Hello from Gatlinburg TN Smoky Mountains Park 🌄🏞️🐻
2:54 The ouroboros - the symbol for eternal, cyclic renewal or a cycle of life, death and rebirth ☠🤘
Loved the side by side fit test by Jessica!! Great location to explore. 🌍
Clicking the like button on this video before I press play.
I always do that too!
Old graveyards everywhere and we just take them for granted and it's great to see how excited you get. So much history where i live in the UK and you definately bring it all to life .....
i love you guys . yourself and baby ghoul always make me smile . keep doing what you do 💀💀💀☠️❤️
The Ouroboros (serpent eating its own tail) is sometimes considered a symbol of eternal destruction and rebirth. Which fits the vampire legend. There are earlier meanings in Egyptian and Greek cultures, but 18th-century England would have used the previously stated meaning.
If you get a chance Leominster in Herefordshire has one of the last ducking stools used in England displayed in the church
Never thought I’d see @Grimmlifecollective visiting a village just up the road from me, although I can see why…. That coffin shaped gravestone is amazing! Great video as always!
That coffin tomb is amazing I would be so tempted to get blood down into it going off old lore in case they were vampires
Another awesome video by the Grimmlife. Such stunning views and a wonderfully told story. That your for the journey and Happy Halloween 🎃
I absolutely love cemeteries. I'm from the UK and recently flew to Miami for a vacation including a short cruise - my first stop at Key West was to walk around the cemetery! Southampton (UK), where I live, has many tombstones dedicated to the Titanic's crew and passengers; also a grave of a teenager called Douglas Lane, who was struck by lightning (along with 2 of his friends), while they were sheltering from a storm on Southampton Common in the Summer of 1955.
Great job! One of my favorite episodes. "If I fit, I sit." lol. Those grave markers used for the sidewalks are creepy and cool at the same time.
The gravestones among the high grass is actually quite beautiful. Like the earth is welcoming them back.
I think cemeteries that have been allowed to go "wild" are the prettiest.
We all are a part of mother nature so it only makes sense
If you are in to graveyards, then the Necropolis in Glasgow, Scotland is well worth a visit.
13:57 Beautiful church ! I liked the way you did your vows.
That’s so cool you guys got to go there and I’ve always thought that people that DON’T like cemeteries were the weird ones lol.
Wow! Small world... I was born at Billinge Hospital (closed in 2004)and lived in the area until I was 20 years old and never knew about this... I now live in London. I'm going to sit back and enjoy yet another interesting Grimm adventure... thank you and Happy Halloween :)
I am always saying how peaceful I find the graveyards/cemeteries that we go to regularly. The energy is always peaceful and feel SO GOOD. I absolutely love them. And vampires are definitely real.
We grew up with two cemeteries within walking distance from our house. So we were use to cutting thru them or sledding in the winter. One was an old Dutch graveyard with the slaves buried down a seperate path. In NJ
the high grass in the one part of the graveyard kinda makes it mysterious and eerie...
Fun fact Gary Oldman came to my old college...a mile away from there..back in 1987 on a visit to my drama class. He'd just done Track 29 and Sid and Nancy. I had a long chat with him.
I love Baby Ghouls vows....she said it so elegantly and perfectly! Wishing you both happiness in the ever after! 🖤🖤👻👻💀💀
Amazing story. Keeping with the vampire theme, did you visit Whitby? Now, there's a story.
A Grave stone is for most people the only way of telling the world I WAS HERE !
You'll never grow old, Michael, and you'll never die. But you must feed!
A great and interesting video. I found the video by chance. 😊😊 I find everything that has to do with vampires, werewolves and ghosts very interesting. 😊😊
My wife always said she won't kill me if I'm a zombie or anything. I'm like hunny it's not me do as you please 😂
The snake eating its own tail symbol is called "ouroboros".
Totally agree with you. I'd rather walk around a cemetery than a park. They're all so beautiful. The architecture. The birdsong. The trees. The ivy. The graves. I've such respect for the dead. These people that have gone before us were well & truly loved. They're not being forgotten when we read the gravestones. XX
Thanks for the much needed serotonin boost guys. 🖤💚
You two are precious.. That was a great video. Thanks again for bringing us with you
Jessica peeking out at 1:42 as you were talking is so adorable tell her to continue being silly it gives me joy!
My home village Billinge, I live on Newton Road about 2 mins away from the church. My nan and grandad and my mum and dad were married in St Aidans. The grave is just one of many local legends in the village. If I knew you were visiting here I have brought you some tea and cake ! The now ex pub (sadly)The Stork opposite the church is haunted by the ghost of a civil war era Cavalier. People have heard horses galloping up Main Street in the early hours but no horses to be seen. Also, Crank Caverns about 5 minutes drive away have many stories attached to them, including children being taken in there by dwarves. Also, for such a small place we have a surprising number of recent (last 30 years) tragic deaths.
What a beautiful cemetery. Totally agree Jessica, graveyards are so peaceful, i love stopping and sitting and taking it all in. Have you visited Haworth graveyard in Yorkshire. So much history there. Also, if you get chance visit Rattlinghope churchyard in Shropshire. Grave of the last known sin eater
The way I clicked so fast when I saw a video pop up 🖤💚
Really enjoyed this one .. I love the strange and unusual. This grave really blew my brain to orbit🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
You both make me so happy. 🖤💚🎃🦇
There was only one death from snakebite in GB from 1950-1972 i highly doubth that either died from one, but the tomb is extremely mysterious and great content. Thank you!!! :)
True adder bites are rare, only young children and aged folks would be affected, treated some during 5 years as an RGN working in A and E
A pinkie promise over a vampire grave, how beautiful and (dare I say) romantic
😂😂😂😂
Of all mythological creatures, Vampires are the coolest. 🧛
I prefer werebadgers
The snake biting its own tail is called ouroboros, a symbol of eternity, sometimes with magical connotations. I don't recall seeing it on a grave in the UK before, and the whole ensemble is unusually spooky. The dragon on the emblem of the Order of the Dragon, in Eastern Europe, from which the name 'Dracula' derives, is similarly positioned in a loop shape, so I assume that's related in some way.
I love you guy's. This is awesome time to watch today. It's Stormy with lightning and thunder ⚡ ⚡.
Ah…perfect time to watch Grimm Life. Enjoy.
In Ireland there are crypts that have the doors open, you can see the coffins, bones and skulls in some, just plain creepy but very interesting! One I saw had bones scattered all over the crypt and 4 skulls in a line in the back of it, had to had been done by vandals, very sad to disturb the dead like that.
Highgate Cemetery has suffered vandalism, obviously they were looking for valuable items and lead lining the coffins.
That last part where you swore upon each other to take the other with them was just adorable, your a great couple & I love your videos, it's a nice little cemetery, sad the grass is overgrown, but I've never seen a gravestone in the shape of a coffin before, it's very unique
You two are so great! You both seem like such wonderful people. Please keep doing what you’redoing together. It so much fun to watch. 😊
All the best to the both of you.
Good way to spend my holiday Monday here in Canada! Thx guys, much love❤
