Great overview and I do believe this move to 90 pct will backfire on Doordash having greater challenges on lower Dasher acceptance for the reason you cite of experienced dashers will be more selective on orders accepted.
Biggest flow for DoorDash is not having technology on place to tell dashers when an order is sent over that the order is ready. I do t care how long a restaurant takes to prepare an orders as long as I am sent in the pickup only when ready.
Doordash greatly disrespects it’s drivers in having no regard to improve this system and allow excessive wait times to occur for Dashers

  • @donnasyms2631

The reason they doing this is cause the way that dashers are stealing food is they get food and wait till “if you want to assign” come up then press yes then it gets reassigned and a dasher like me go to merchant and they say the food already was picked up. I’m going to then call DD cause at least I get the half pay for going to merchant. I’m glad they doing this tired of going to merchant and food already picked up. Thank you DD

At least one item on my list is always out and I have to chat with the customer to find a substitute-this eats at my time. And if u don’t accept the order then it kills ur acceptance rate. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There has been a couple of times where I went to a restaurant to pick up food and they told me that another Dasher had already picked it up. Only possible way that this would have happened is if the Dasher after they picked up the food unassigned it before they indicated that they picked up the order. This would be my assumption as to why they're increasing the completion rate is to prevent fraudulent. If you're at a restaurant for a long period of time about 10 minutes past its expected time it will allow you to unassign the order without affecting your completion rate

Sometimes if my AR gets to 72 I might accept an order to then use the unassign so to protect my AR. I used to not care about my AR but it has changed recently and so do I. One thing that Dashers need to understand is that you have 40 seconds to make the decision on an order YOU DO NOT GET MORE MONEY BY ACCEPTING AN ORDER FASTER!. It is 80 with a stacked order 40 seconds is longer then you think. Also a nasty trick DD does is send you orders when you are arriving at another order hopping you will panic accept the order because you want to get to the delivery. Be Patient understand you have time and its ok to let the timer run out.

One thing I may do differently now is not accept any orders that come in less than seven minutes before dash end, unless I have already agreed to an extension. Love the shirt 🌴
For me the biggest effect this has is that i have to be more carful when trying out new zones, since usually the few times I unassign its when something crazy happens in a place I don't know. Can happen anywhere but last time I was out of my normal zone I had a customer on a stack ask something that I'm pretty sure would of been illegal, not taking chances with stuff like that, at least in my case I hadn't picked anything up for them yet. But forgetting anything dramatic also just the normal "is this place slow" sort of situations that you can't answer when you are new to a area.
So far as saturation? I see lots of Dashers walk in and walk out of places I'm waiting a minute at, i have no idea of their overall work ethic but as much as I don't wish ill on other dashers as a whole, if some people are not taking it seriously and making it effectively harder for everyone then its probably for the better, especially if there is any chance it helps with everyone who does care earnings.

I've never dipped below 90% completion in all the time I've dashed. This includes the fact that I've had my car break down twice during a dash, had to get out of orders to pick up kids in an emergencies, and gotten out of orders because I got a bad feeling about it shortly after taking the order for various reasons.
They are doing this to lessen times customers have to wait. It might weed out dashers that don't care about customer service at all. I think it will be fine. I have a feeling it will help my market because there are too many dashers. People who haven't dashed in 12 months (husband is one of these) aren't affecting you because they very rarely dash.
It isn't hard to keep the completion rate up. If you asses every parameter of an order before you take it, you don't have to get out of many orders, and can save that for actual emergencies.
I think DD needs to make it easier for dashers to appeal contract violations. For one, they should not give that to you without trying to contact you first for your side of the situation...

Due to a sudden onset of some mental health issues at 46yrs old I had no idea what I was going to do. I called ADT for a safety issue, I called DD support to help me also. DD & I repeditly called the customer with no answer. I was instructed what to do by support. I kept telling him the reasons he's having me push were not my issue. He said it was the only way to remove the order from me. Having worked 3yrs I knew he was in the wrong. But I did what he said. That violation stayed on my stats page for several days they usually disappear. I had a gut feeling something was up. Went to go dash the other day & I was deactivated. I appealed & dennied. They said I still violated the contract in wich I agree but I feel my safety reason was valid & legit. I have never been so sad or fired. I dashed 7 days a week usually be the one out at 2am 5am. I got a tip for y'all. Don't accept a dash your not going to finish no matter what situation you're in. And if someone already picks up your order and you can't take that order. Contact DD and it won't affect your ratings. Also as all of you may know. The ratings you see on your end are not always the same DD sees on their end. You might see 95 completion rate and in reality it's 92 percent on DD computer itself. I can't stress to you how many times I complained to DD that on my end I should have been top Dasher but on their end they said my rating didn't show I was top Dasher eligible. One day at the end of a month last year. I had 85 percent acceptance and 95 percent completion. DD told me I had 65 percent acceptance and 89 percent completion rate. That's a huge difference but I screenshot the rating on my end and showed them and they did nothing. So if you see a 95 completion rate. Don't unaccept an order until that rating goes up to 96. Just don't get under 95 by all means and you will always be safe.

The new system makes it so if you don't decline or accept an order and your dash get paused because you cant take your eyes of the road they punish you and reduce your acceptance rate. I already reported it as a huge safety issue but yall should report it too.

I am making 30/hr and have my acceptance rate over 70% I am not bitter and don’t act mean to customer service and I am super nice and patient with stores when I go in. I understand the algorithm. I have the catering program and treat shop and delivers like that old tv show that gives you a certain time to fill your cart. You all need to stop being so negative. Watch the doordash diaries videos to stay up to date and just be consistent stay above 70% every dasher I talk to that does this does not think the same way about doordash that most of you do on here.

I hope this helps with over saturation. I can't help but wonder if it has to do with order stealing. Dasher that accept an order, get the order then unassigned with the food in tow.

98% Completion Rate and 58% Acceptance Rate. I am typically at 100% Completion Rate- if I accept an order- it is very rare that I UNASSIGN the order. It takes something pretty drastic to UNASSIGN. That also teaches me to be more selective and causes me to have a lower Acceptance Rate.

  • @Jay-yl9th

I can see the reason for this is because of how doordash allows you to unassign if restaurants take too long. I am at 99% and it is rare to go below 95%

Been a dasher since September 2020. I got the email, most of my completion drops are from shopping orders like groceries which they advertise like crazy. Went from 95 percent to 97 this week bc I've declined shopping orders. Another fight fire with fire.

As of the time of this comment, I am sitting on 96% completion rate my completion rate is always 95 or above since I’m trying to be top dasher for the freedom of Dash now whenever I want if I get an order that takes me out of my zone. I can just simply end the dash and start again on the new zone because the whole switched zones doesn’t happen for me all the time.

I know it would complicate the algorithm, but rather than fully deactivating a driver, why not a zone deactivation. This would allow for DD to move an asset ( driver) away from the zone where, for some reason they have committed their "error", to a zone in need of attention and be given a chance to remediate their status with the company. What if the driver doesn't want to shift zones? Then they can drop DD and use other apps, and don't get the reputation of deactivating drivers at the drop of a hat. In fact, they can claim to be helping the driver with another chance.

I thought you're supposed to work however and whenever you want. You create a platform and tell people to work however they want. They listen then you create rules to change three habits you told them to have. It will be the beginning of the end for this place if they think they can rely on super loyal dashers and kill off the casuals. This is supposed to be a passive, casual thing. Before dashers know it they'll be obeying by and following more rules than a traditional job. They already work harder than a traditional job and waste their gas money and front and rear brakes, etc...I go to a traditional job like Target or CVS and they make their $, doing nothing. An assistant Manager at Family Dollar recently told me she make $16/hour and they do nothing except check customers out. Store is a mess. You prob dont even make that amount dashing plus running up and down steps to people houses and a bunch of bs that you think you're avoiding by downloading an app and working. Keep being fooled by thinking this option is better. Shiiiid. It won't stop here. It starts here. Expect more regulation.

I didn't. So if you get deactivated do not be surprised,I would suggest doing another delivery service.

How bout doordash does a BASE PAY increase because of inflation, instead of doing this stuff!! Their base pay has stayed the same since 2020, 2.50 per order with no tip, still today, the same base pay!! They want drivers to do this and that yet they dont wanna pay more. go figure. My completion rate isn't an issue, not even close to bottom out to worry about.

mine is already at 100% Even when it pops up I've been waiting a while, like to unassign it with no penalties. I still stay with the order, I've already done the hard work. Why would i let another dasher just be able to come in and go with the order i waited for

  • @ShanikaMac
    @ShanikaMac 10 месяцев назад +1

There should be more transparency on Shop and Deliver orders so you won't have to decline. When I accept the order and see that there are items I can't carry, I have to decline. I also decline when I get to a restaurant and have to wait more than five minutes for them to complete an order. The completion rating should be left as is. I feel this is just a ploy to bring in many more new drivers.....

And also communicating with the custoletting them know that you're waiting. If you choose to.
