Hey James, just want to say thanks for keeping me company while I eat alone. I don't always, but sometimes I work late and have to get something on the way home. Watching you have a great meal elevates my meal (even if it is Chick-Fil-A). You said once that you wish you had someone to share the experience with, but you have thousands of people with you. Keep up the great content!
Thank you! The support from everyone means more to me than I could put into words. I really appreciate everything! Also, there's nothing wrong with Chick-Fil-A! It's good food! When I used to live in Chicago there was a Chick-Fil-A right near where I worked and I would probably eat there once a week.
Former New York Times food critic Ruth Reichel always said, “New York is the best fed city in the world”. She had it right and your videos illustrate this all so well.
Thank you! I appreciate it! I definitely agree! There's a lot of great places to eat in the world, but no city has the variety and diversity of cuisine like New York does.
It is a Tamil restaurant and the dishes are traditional tamil dishes. The dindugal biryani is a specially made known not only for its different rice type but also the spices. The spice masala they make is grounded in traditional grinding stone ..not mixies or machines., It has lot of pepper and the spices really clear ur nose and throat if u have any upper respiratory infection.

Thank you! Yeah, I enjoyed the biryani, but if I knew how large it was, I would've definitely gotten more of the smaller and medium sized plates instead. There's a ton on their menu that I really want to try.

Tender coconut is an extremely light and delicate flavour and whenever its the focus ingredient, there wouldn't be anything else that can linger and overshadow it, be it in payasam, soufflé or icecreams. Its one of those rare instances in Indian culinary space where the flavour of main ingredient is not completing with anything else.
What i really liked about the whole video was that you didn't speak while eating, either explaining about the taste and experience. You really maintained a gentle nature to not disturb other customers because ive seen many youtubers just speaking and it really is annoying. Keep creating more such content 👍

The Indian subcontinent is vast, with a tremendous variety of cuisines. Indian food representations in the West are often limited to specific cuisines. May your dining journey be filled with delicious surprises and delightful moments!
@@nandishhegde9025 Thank you! Absolutely!
Take this from a South Inidan, MTR in Seattle is currently one of the best Authentic Inidan dosa or any dish that you get there in the whole United States.
I'll keep that place in mind if I'm ever in Seattle. Thanks for sharing!
After having mtr dosas one should consult a cardiologist
LOOL not even MTR might be best Karnataka restaurant in America but South Indian?? No chance at all, so much better Tamil, Telugu and Malayali places, Kannada food in the states doesn't really have the same allure as those ones. The dosa from MTR is more ghee than dosa it tastes like nothing.
@@debodatta7398 says a Bengali
Dosa is a light food. I dont understand the logic b3hind dumping tons of butter and ghee on dosa done by kannadigas
You must use your hands to eat South Indian food..
Dindugal Briyani not Dindle Briyani bro.. - Seeragha Sambha rice is the short fat rice much tastier earthy aromatic than BASMATI Rice from Punjab in South Indian cuisine.. Spices blended with meat.Dindugal is a district in Tamilnadu.
Elaneer payasam the dessert aka Tender coconut Payasam
Podi DOSA looked great with perfect Sambhar and Chutney sides..
Wonderful South Indian Tamil Cuisine...
Indeed! The food was really good, especially that dosa, but I liked everything. It's hard to find food like that in NYC. I know using one's hands is preferable, but it was hard for me sometimes not to use the silverware when I'm so used to it.
ok James Great mate @@Jamesnu
That Biriyani portion was for 2, so kudos for the brave attempt!
Thank you! It was so good!
Is a Don Angie review coming?
It sure is! I'm really excited about that one! It won't be next week's video, but likely it will be up on the week after.
I love that you licked your fingers ;) a great compliment to the chef!
The food was really good!
5:38 Potatoes are enjoyed traditionally chunky in a masala dosa, rather than as pureed or mashed.
Absolutely! They were good potatoes, I just wish that they were a little softer.
personally, even I'm not a huge fan of chunky potatoes, because some parts are under seasoned.
But my grandma likes it chunky :(
Did you run in the Chicago marathon over the weekend?
I wish! That looked like a great day for a race! I've run that marathon in the past at least. I'll be running the Nashville Marathon though. It's not a very big run, but I didn't have too many viable options with fall marathons this year that would work with my schedule and be something that I could afford.
Unfortunately, I think the marathon takes place when you said you were going to be in NYC. The race is on the 28th.
@Jamesnu we will still be in NYC thru November 1st. Hopefully, we can get a meet and greet photo to put in our wedding album. Great video as usual. Good luck in the marathon!!
@@thecrimedog8424 Thank you and I hope so too! I return to NYC on October 30th and I would be happy to meet you both.
Great video & love your classy watch ❤
Thank you!
@@Jamesnu you should show us your watch collection pls 🙌🏼

A great cultural resource.
I know the place. I've walked by it a number of times.
How many dosas have you had in your life ? Just curious
@@abhineeth1 Too many to count, but it hasn't always been that way. I don't even think I knew what a dosa was until I was an adult.
I wonder how often James is mistaken for a Michelin judge when he dines alone in these fine NYC restaurants. I thought of this when he recently dined at La Bernardin. If I were Chef Ripert I would send out an extra amuse bouche just in case.
Haha! I bet the Michelin inspectors are a bit more low-key, but if it gets me extra food, I wouldn't mind being mistaken for one.
Looks good and you can get this food in india like for dosa = 1-2$, biryani - 4-5$ in expensive hotels and in not much expensive it will be around 80 cents for dosa and birayani for 1-2$ 😊
Yeah, NYC is pretty expensive, but at least the food was really good.
I love indian cuisine, thank you for sharing
Me too! Thanks for watching!
Monday To Friday hard work.. And weekend Saturday brekfast Masla Dosa and coffee ❤
Nice!
Very inspiring.Thank you.
Thank you! I try!
you came to dine with a full camera crew?
Haha! Nope, it was just me and my own camera.
Lmao, the Starbucks napkins coming in clutch with the biryani
Indeed! You never know when they could come in handy.
The dosa is so badly plated and the chutney is so little. Come on! I dont mind expensive dosa, but don't skimp!
Bro why you missed out on shahi tokhra 😢
I can only eat so much.
@Jamesnu ofcourse.... But definitely give that dessert a try once !!! It's quite rich, dequident, creamy, crispy and sweet. You have to try it once and you'll keep coming back for more.... Trust me 🤩

That's a restaurant that I've been meaning to check out. It looks like a great place.
@@Jamesnu I never went I heard of it great famous chef lls go
You’ve no put the yoghurt on it should placed on the side and scooped up with the rice
You want good dosa in NYC? Go to the temple canteen of the Hindu Temple in Bowne St, Flushing.
I've had dosas there before. It's definitely a great spot!
nice have you eaten dosa in india
Nope, I haven't been to India yet, but I really want to go there sometime.
Will definitely go for walk in!!!
It's definitely worth checking out.
There's barely any coconut chutney with that gunpowder dosa. There should be at least half the amount of chutney as the sambar.
Yeah, it definitely would've been nice to have a bit more chutney, but it was still a great dosa!
the sad thing with dosa outside india is that the chutneys quantity is given as a "dip" and not as a side as it should be
Lovely ❤❤❤ You need to eat at my home in Delhi or London soon
Those are definitely cities that I want to travel to.
James, for a skinny guy you can put the food away. Plus you always got to have dessert.👍
A lot of other reviewers avoid the sweets.
I definitely have a big appetite! Yeah, for me a meal just isn't complete without something sweet at the end.
The best dose should be crispy on the one side and soft on other side
Yes, thank you for watching!
Orient bambino as the watch! Can trust him! 😀
Haha! Thank you! It's a good watch for sure!
This guy looking at the Wine list😂
🙏
A dash of saffron in the dessert would have made the difference,😊
That probably would taste nice!
That naan bread is the best bread ever ate restaurant quality
It's really good!
actually eating one dosa is enough but you have eaten it with a bucket biryani is a real deal.
Yeah, that was a lot of food!
Hey James!! Thank you for being so warm and respectful of my country's cuisine!😋 With more than 28 states, each differing in its unique cultural nuances, dialects, tastes.. there is a LOT for you to explore as a True Food Connoisseur! 🌶🫕🍲🥯🍗🥗🍽🍴I hope you try them all!! 💖

Wow, looks yummy
It was really good!
U know the yogurt with biryani is called Raita

The same dishes would have cost around ₹500 or $6 in India.
Yes, New York is unfortunately very expensive.
@@Jamesnu You are Right I also heard New York and Singapore are Expensive places to live in also Australia Queensland too
In india if we catch cold we prefer eating these spicy chai spicy lamb instead of taking tablets 😂😂😂
Nice!
Made a dahi rice of a biryani. Got to teach these people how to eat our food. -_-'
