Hey Marc, if you haven't already completed the repair... I Repaired my passenger side on Easter weekend. I didn't have a pin punch that was the correct diameter to push the pin out. I rummaged through a coffee can full of various nails and screws I had lying about. Managed to conjure up nail that was a good fit. I added a few drops of 3in1 oil on each side of the pin, and gave it a shot of WD40 also and let it soak in for 10-15 minutes. Placed the nail in the hole, and hammered firmly (not excessively) and the pin slowly crept out. Once it was exposed about 3/8 of an inch, I used a pair of long needle nose to twist it the rest of the way out.

Joe, thanks for that response. I solved this problem by ordering a 5/32 punch from Amazon and waiting for it to arrive. Perfect fit and perfect solution.
My fear about using anything else was entering inside the pin itself and causing the problem to worsen or damage or the pin often splits in half.
But we are good now. Thanks again.

Things can get really complicated when you don't use the correct tools. What is needed is a punch slightly larger than the pin but smaller than the hole. Buy a cheap set of punches for a few bucks and make life easier i.e., work smarter not harder.
