    Hello, my personal opinion is Pa series have evolved so much it is time to have as part of this expensive and great instrument a dedicated professional 8 - 16 tract audio recorder to which can sync with the accompaniments with editing functions to be able to do good studio grade recording? Is it not time?

    I thought the pads were a separate function from The Matrix and just referred to those four buttons labeled pads to the left of the display.

      They are, but they share somethings. If you are playing something on the Matrix the Stop Button over by the 4 pads will stop those Matrix sounds. The Matrix is, I think and after thought. You can do some editing with the 4 pads when you go to the mixer. That is, Volume, Mute, Solo and Pan. But the Matrix you are limited to what you can do. You can use the 4 Pads listed in the Mixer for Volume, Mute, Solo and Pan. But this changes those parameters for the 4 Matrix buttons at one time. Example... Settings for
      Pad 1 controls Matrix buttons 1, 5, 9 and 13.
      Pad 2 controls Matrix buttons 2, 6, 10 and 14.
      Pad 3 controls Matrix buttons 3, 7, 11 and 15.
      Pad 4 controls Matrix buttons 4, 8, 12 and 16.
      So... You can see the Matrix really isn't that cool. It would have been better if they created a mixer just for the Matrix, so you could change the settings for each pad on the Matrix.
      👍

      @@jonmicheals621 Well that's useful information that was not in the manual. Thank you for working out the pads/buttons relationships.
      I have a similar problem accessing the MIDI 1-8 / 9-16 channels when driving Pa5X with my Cakewalk sequencer. I cannot access the mixer for anything other than styles and keyboard UNLESS... I load a MIDI file in the player. Then the 16 MIDI channels appear on the mixer menu. If I could find out a button combination that would get me there without the hack of loading a MIDI file, that would be much more convenient.

      I think the MIDI engine in the Pa5x is not the best. I tried for a few hours to get the drum track of the Style on the Pa5x to play my external drum modules. I still can't get that working.
      Cakewalk! Awesome! I am an old guy, and back when 32Mb was a lot of ram, Cakewalk was the only real MIDI software you could trust. I even ran reel to reels via MIDI with Cakewalk.
      Check out my Cakewalk. The audio was not the best, late night and I needed to finish.

    Instead of shelling out the vast sm of money for a PA5x I took a totally different approach with my PA4x. I incorporated a Novation Launchpad X, Ableton Live, a Kurzweil K2700 as well as numerous sound interfaces and achieved what, in my opinion, is far surperior to the 5x. With the Launchpad X, not only can I control MIDI CC & PC Commands, I can use instruments far superior to anything in the PA Arsenal between the K2700 and the Plugins I use in Real-Time with Ableton Live and Midi Clock Sync. No instrument does it all but for the same amount of money, or less, I believe I've achieved on heck of an Instrument/Studio. It somewhat irritated me when Korg decided not to make their styles backwards compatible to the PA4x, 900, etc, etc as many of us have put years into creating styles which are no longer useable on a 5x. Personally I started years ago with a PA500 so it was a real slap in the face by Korg whenthey changed the style structure which, in my opinion, gained nothing other than forcing decicated customers to spend A LOT OF MONEY to stay with Korg's Flagship.

      I agree it is a lot of money. But for me producing music it's a real-time saver. The Pa5x is a totally different system, but I have had some of my styles from my Pa1000 work on the Pa5x so I think some of your Pa4x Styles should work on the Pa5x. As for the Matrix, I hardly use it. The only thing I use a lot on the Pa5x is the Chord Sequencer. It is a real game changer, at least for me. I can write a song using the chord sequencer and then play it back on a large monitor for practice and or recording. I think Korg was trying to compete with Genos when they built this thing. It is not an all-in-one machine, and in fact, I use it only for arrangements or quick compositions. I use my Korg Nautilus and a few other modules if I want just a keyboard or synth sounds. Check out my other videos, especially the one on the Korg Pa5x Chord Sequencer. I have a whole playlist on the Korg Pa5x.
      Take care, my friend.

      Awesome, I think you are going to really like this keyboard. But there will be a learning curve. I created some videos on this keyboard and I hope they will help you. I use my Pa5x for producing soundtracks, so I don't know if there will be enough sounds for you. Watch my video "3 Things I like about my Korg Pa5x." That Chord Recorder is what sold me on this keyboard. You can write songs with different chords patterns while maintaining the same style. Awesome!
      Take care my friend.

    Hi Questions,Can I put mp3 from usb drive to Matrix? About 2-3 minutes ? Please 🙏 let me know

    • @jonmicheals621
      @jonmicheals621  Год назад

      You might be able to do it... Go to the Matrix and select edit / then the pad you want that sound to go to / then look at the top of the page and you will see "Factory" "User" and "Drives." Select Drives and see if it shows up. If not, you might have to download it to the keyboard and then access it in the same way. But even then, I don't know if a file that large can be played that way. You might have to bring it in on Player 2. I know bringing sounds in can be a pain. But if you bring them in and save them to your "User" Library they are easier to access. Take Care

    In the MPC 61 keys akai you can do more than that and the quality of the natural instrument like studio string and paino are fantastic are more then KORG.

    upgrade needed to store the pad in the matrix after editing as it forgets and reverts to its former parameter

      Can those edited settings for matrix pads be saved into Songbook or this are global one ?
      Are those settings for individual pads stored in the internal memory and available after switching off and on the instrument?

    • @jonmicheals621
      @jonmicheals621  Год назад +1

      @@pawlikp100 I am going to do a video on this. But... You can change all the parameters of that pad in the Matrix and those changes will remain, even if you change styles those changes will remain. But, if you select player 2 or shut the keyboard down, those changes will go away and if you try to save that pad in the Matrix it will not allow you. Here is the workaround.
      Go to the Matrix, then into the edit mode, then locate that sound you are playing. Then go to Pad Edit, those four pads on the deck of the Keyboard and bring that sound into that pad. Then edit it the way you like it using the 4 pads on the Keyboard deck. Once you have made your changes then save it. All those changes will be stored into that sound. Then go to the Matrix edit and upload that sound in to the pad you want on the Matrix. Once you do that that sound will be stored Globally and so will the changes that you made. Crazy but it works...
