I literally came after I watched it
This is the most fitting tribute to the King Under the Mountain I have seen, Your song also fully explains (what the movie doesn't!) what is done with Orcrist and the Arkenstone, and your mention of the Arkenstone as a shimmering light in darker days fits very well with the War of the North which is brought to the gates of Erebor and where Dain dies defending his people during the War of the Ring.
In extended edition of Battle of the Five Armies there is Thorin's and his nephews funeral and both Arkenstone and Orcrist can be seen on his breast.
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my entire life.
The voice, the emotion and the lyrics, it's all so perfect.
I feel the loss of Thorin as if he really was my friend, a real person, I'm crying ( 0:54 ).

Thorin Son of Thrain II may have been fictional but his death has still impacted many a folk whomst dwells in reality, whilst he lays buried in Erebor in middle earth, far from our reach, unable to visit. Few fictional characters can truly impact peoples lives like the ones Tolkien has written, his characters teach us lessons that few now can still teach, they guide us like few now can. Thank you Tolkien, for giving us the ability to visit your spectacular world of fantasy and wonder.

Came back to listen again because i just rewatched the trilogy. And i started to cry like a baby again hearing the song... i remember Thorin, the most stubborn and proud but the bravest, kindest and most noble hero, he was a flawed king but his noble quality shines through it all...
Thorin, who was greatly admired and respected, who has given it all for his kingdom and people but now can no longer walk to see the brighter days of his people... thinking about it makes me sob again!
