Thanks for posting. I haven't been to La Roca since I went for dinner in the mid 80's. At that time- the interior looked like that of a cave. I found it quite charming. Now, they've gotten quite artsy about the decor. At any rate- you've got to try the menudo. If they still use that recipe- it's unlike any I had ever eaten. It was "slap your mom" delicious!
Many people do that. We called them "snowbirds" because they would show up in the winter and then disappear when the spring and especially the summer would come. They would stay there yearly during the wintertime. There are only two seasons in AZ, not counting the summer monsoons when the humidity along with the heat is unbearable for many. If you do move there- make sure you have a swamp cooler for the (dry )summer, and central A/C for use during the (excessively humid) monsoons. Otherwise, your utility bills can become astronomical. Just saying.
Sunday brunch is a huge buffet with live music and wait staff that have been there for decades. After you can people watch in the little plaza by the church. You can drive over the border and park on the Mexican side. I always do. I'm a Tucson resident and like to cross frequently but always when family and friends visit. Great vid. Thx for sharing.
I might be going to Nogales, mexico in a few weeks. Is there a place you can transfer American dollars to pesos? To come back to Arizona from nogales, mexico where is the check point. I won't be driving, just walking thru. Thank you
There are lots of money changers (casas de cambio) on both sides of the border. As you walk to the main pedestrian crossing (west of the the main highway) you will see some. There are 2 pedestrian crossings in Nogales, the larger one is on the west side of the main highway crossing and a smaller one is on the east side. I usually walk through the main crossing. Coming back, there could be a wait up to 30-45 minutes depending on the time of day. But there are apps that can tell you the current wait times. Hope you have a nice trip!
I went to Nogales mexico last Friday. Had real fun time there. Ate at a restaurant, it does help that someone speak Spanish. My wife does, food was good. Thank you for the information, crossing in and out the border was easy. There were a lot of pharmacy's there. Thanks again for the advice.
If you're gonna cross to Nogales I suggest you treat yourself and have some good Mescal or Tequilla. A decent meal at LaRoca isn't cheap. Its a tourist restaurant mainly. There are good local places if you just walk around you'll find them. You can eat cheaper but not as well.

Thanks for the tip. I may be retiring to the Southern Arizona in a few years and if so will look forward to many happy returns at La Roca!
At that time, I lived in Tucson. I hope you enjoy extreme heat. If so, So. AZ is the place to be!

We'll see if I can handle the heat!! Maybe I'll have to be somewhere else in the summer...

La Pricey
Yes, probably the most expensive restaurant in Nogales Sonora but still cheaper than the US side for the same quality.

David letterman?
I'm 63 and maybe I watched too many of his shows over the course of a lifetime.
How much for a plate
I show the menu in the video but you can get a good plate of food for less than $10 US.
