- Today we look at some ideas for building a Fighter/Warlock in BG3, and somehow spend an inappropriate amount of time talking about Paladins and Sorcerers.

Do your warlock barbarian revisited build for bg3 next!! I'm in love with The concept of armor of agathis + rage resistant
Good idea, that was a really fun build to play, and I think it would work great in BG3 too. Probably better in some ways, since your extra attack will stack and AoA doesn't run out after an hour.
Nice build. I dont have a build with fighter main class but i do have a warlock one. i'm sure this warlock build will look familiar to you. I've also posted this along with my other builds (12 now in total, haha) on red-dit. look for strike first builds (holiday driver):
"THE BARBARIAN OF AGATHYS"
fiendlock 9, tigerheart barb 3
cha 15+2 dex 13+1 con 14 wis 12 str 10 and int 8
race: duergar (for the poison res and enlarge, similar races with cold or poison res is fine)
feat: +2 cha, great weapon master (or shield master for 1H sets or dual wielder for dual wield sets)
invocations: minion of chaos, any 4 you want
pact: blade
key spells: armor of agathys, minor illusion, counterspell, chill shield, conjure elemental (water)
key equipment: water bottles, any melee weapon set (i will default to a pike for this build), simple toxin
progression: warlock 1-barb 3-warlock 9 (online at level 4)
TACTICS:
pre-combat:
Cast L5 AOA and conjure elemental (water). stealth and invis while exploring. use minor illusion to group enemies before starting combat. pre-combat cast enlarge or chill shield if possible. re-apply AOA if it ran out after short resting post-combat. same if water elemental dies. coat weapon with simple toxin pre-combat if possible. turn off dark one's blessing.
1st turn:
reaction: counterspell if needed
move towards enemies
bonus action: rage
action: throw water bottle at enemies + tiger's bloodlust with reckless attack 1-3 enemies
water elemental: send to attack enemies near you to inflict chilled
note: enemies will attack you and trigger AOA if hit
2nd turn onwards:
action: TB with RA x2 or TB with RA + throw water bottle at non-wet enemies
bonus action: free or simple toxin your weapon if you weren't able to do it pre-combat
water elemental: send to attack enemies near you to inflict chilled vs. non-chilled enemies
DMG BREAKDOWN (RETALIATION):
AOA: 25 x2 (chilled)= 50 retaliation dmg without factoring bonuses from gear, consumables or party debuffs. will increase by 4d8 (18 average) if you were able to pre-cast chill shield and had a spare slot.
DMG BREAKDOWN (SUSTAINED ATTACKS):
1d10/2 (pike) + 2 (rage) +5 (cha, assuming +5), +10 (GWM) + 1d4 (simple toxin)= 22.25 average sustained dmg without factoring bonuses from gear, better consumables or party buffs or debuffs to 1 target. Keep in mind, tiger's bloodlust is capable of hitting up to 3 targets in melee range every turn. Using enlarge should increase the dmg by 2.5 per target.
note: Both dmg breakdowns do not factor in the dmg caused by the water elemental. feel free to tell me what you think. :)
I like this a lot. I actually played a Barblock in 5E, which I think I even did a video about. It was awesome, and given some of the rule changes in BG3, I think it's probably going to be even better.
@@thedungeon1578 yup. this build was inspired from your video before. i dont think you still remember but i mentioned i'd like to try out that build 1 day. then i quit 5E. then eventually got to tweak it to this here in BG3.
Planning this for my dark urge run…. But the level 7 eldritch knight ability seems worthwile to me..
it's not. its pretty bad. it would be worthwhile if it was the other way around (cantrip as a bonus action).
Neat setup. I'd be tempted to go 4 Warlock 6 Fighter then maybe a couple Bard levels for expertise. My first character was a Paladin/Bard and being able to nail just about any Persuasion check is hard to walk away from.
Also, Paladin/Bard is pretty sweet :).
@@thedungeon1578 Yeah, you can concentrate on CC then Smite stuff.
I am going Paladin Bard. Using the bonus action to toss out inspiration.
Thinking Blade bard would be good for the flourishes, what do you think?
Yes, that is a great combination. Both use Charisma, and bard gives you better spell slot progression too. Blade flourishes are great too.
its a great ideas as flourishes are really strong in this game, especially for ranged strikers.
@TheRobversion1 good to know. Javelins have already saved my butt twice in the first couple hours
@@crystaltydemagic throwing is another thing that's strong in this game. I plan to be releasing my own take on paladin bard soon. not a flourish build though.
