    Thank you for the procedure demonstration.
    BTW, diesel variants do not have an electric pump. See the belt pulley on the picture 0:42, where as electric pump has an integrated motor.
    That is why you need to start the engine, because the pump is rotating together with the engine belt pulley system.

      Thanks for correcting a misconception 👍 I agree with you, it is not an electric pump and it's a closed system that is run buy pulley belt. It's just an incorrect habit to call it an electric pump really.

    Hello, is there any downside in driving the car without following a proper coolant bleeding procedure and just topping up the coolant when the level in the reservoir goes down due to natural causes. In other terms is bad to just let the engine to operate at normal condition, i.e. traffic driving, and allowing it to bleed by itself? I ask because I don't think that revving the engine when the car stationary (no-load) for more than a few minutes is good for the engine. Thank you for your reply!

    Wouldn't it be better to drain the coolant from the bottom radiator hose near the passenger side front wheel?

      I remember checking all possible access points for an easy drain but couldn't find any better option. There wasn't even a drain plug at the bottom of radiator like older versions of F30s. This method drained pretty much all coolant in the end.

    Hi, my 116d is drinking a little bit of coolant.. could this help? I searched on the web but couldn't find any possible problems, except maybe the EGR coolant.

      Hi, I don't think egr would cause it. Maybe head gasket or an invisible are is leaking it.

    Hi thanks for the video. Trying to find the vacuum hose diagrams on this engine…loss of power and I found a vacuum hose disconnected by the left hand side of the engine low, near the engine mounts. It’s coming off a solenoid valve and has vacuum pressure but I can’t see where it needs to go. Because of this there’s no vacuum pressure to control the turbo. Any idea where I can get the diagram? It’s on a f20 1.5d b37 engine. Thanks again

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I can imagine your frustration😬 the best thing I can recommend is to buy/download an Ista software on ebay or any trusted website. There are cheap versions as well (without programming packages) this software will show you all the diognostics and diagrams with or without connecting your car. Everything is very clear and step by step guidance can solve your problem when you run a test plan in the software. I also have a video about Ista Rheingold on my channel for a quick understanding.     Hello and thanks for the information! I did this process on my bmw f11 b47 today and after the whole process, I still can see bubbles coming up like 3:59 in the video. Then I let the engine idle for another 2 minutes but the bubbles are still coming up. Finally I shut the engine down. What causes bubbles? Does it mean the bleeding is not proper finished or it's just normal because the eingine is hot?

      The bubbles you see are not coming from the coolant system, it's created by the thin stream of coolant falling back in to the tank. So, seems like you did it correctly but I recommend you to bleed the system at least twice to be safe as we're not using a vacum filler.

A phenomenon is the coolant level is getting higher and higher with the eingine Temperature is getting hotter, I read lots of bleeding DIY and they all say that with the bleeding process the coolant level is getting lower and lower.does my situation mean that there's no air in the system?
      Btw, I drove my car for 30km and the engine Temperature is pretty normal, the heater in the car works pretty good as well, I can feel the heat coming from the vent, does that mean there's no air in the system? Thanks!

      There are always people with different experiences when fixing things on complicated things like BMWs. My experiences and work on this car was straightforward with no issues. It looks like you have done it right. Once the work is finished, make sure coolant level is up to the max in the expansion tank and that's it 👍
