I watched this in the cinema when it came out, with my sister and the two gangster boy pals we had and they were in for a surprise and we came out of the cinema and they realized how much they enjoyed the film, watching a boy loving and dancing ballet. I just love how this film just touches anyone who watches it! I love this film sooo sooo much.
My older brother has this on DVD in his collection, I'm 46 he's 49. I remember it being in the theatres , 1998. Thanks for sharing this preview./ Trailer 🎥
The role of Mrs. Wilkenson in Billy's life and development is beautiful. It reminds me of a few of the great teachers I had growing up. Thank God for them!
Billy Elliot is my favorite film of all. It is sensitive, realistic and the acting is superb. It shows a complex relationship between Billy and his family, friends. But in the end what really matters is LOVE and understanding among them. The social and economic situation in the background adds a bit of historical moment, which makes it more realistic. Congrats to all the team!

Why isn’t there more commentary about his dear bestie, Michael from whom Billy draws so much support and undying devotion? Geez, they skipped over the whole point of the character, the other child actor, and the significance of their platonic friendship. This is a lovely revisit of the movie premise, and review of the actors, however, imho, a huge opportunity in compassion was missed without any mention of Michael, and relatedly his encounters with dance teacher’s daughter, Debbie. Huge miss on their part.
I first found out about this movie from my aunt when she was ovwr feom the UK and heard my son was dnacing ballet. He could have gone professional except a choereographer put too many dancers o stage and him amd another da cer collidwd doing spins. Both emded up with foot injury that led to them ending their dancing careers
