Not alot of people still will not understand what this car is and how special it truly is it was the absolute KING of the eighties. " Miami Vice" used to have the 4 doors on their show all the time and I'm really wanting to say this car was on the show I remember seeing something with the 2 door 500 SEC and I remember one was white and the other was Black but had the huge center mount trunk wing. What an awesome car Congratulations on such a once in a lifetime buy and the best thing is you drive it and enjoy it. I absolutely loved how you said you're the "Caretaker" of the car that is such the truth we really never own anything and one day it will pass to a new "Caretaker"
What an amazing story for a car so unique and special. Mercedes in the 80's was something different the best or nothing, but this car is something beyond. So glad is in good hands
@@cmsmotorsports7616 I lived in Oregon for almost 11 years, I never saw an SEC on wheel driving around the hills. Never even smelled a Koenig special being around, If ever sensed it, trust me I would sleep right in front the bumper and would switch between rear and front every different night. 👏🏽 You really have owned the hidden treasure my guy, and as you mentioned, you’re not just the owner, you’re the GREAT TAKER of this car. Happy for you, good luck living with the best rides to ever be on the street.
Man!! That enginesound when you start it!! NOTE: I would have started this video by beginning it at timestamp 1:09 and having the car roll out the garage...
Back 10 hours later to again check this video. This car is a piece of art like a unique painting! Including the original brushes the painting was painted with (the body panel molds)
Nice video. Awesome story. Awesome car. It is one thing for the Mercedes Benz 560 SEC to be an amazing car, but to have a 1 of 1 Koenig Specials customized example!
I love seeing this! This is an amazing story! If you’re ever on the east coast please meet up with me! I have a 1/1 Gemballa E30! If the car is ever on the East coast please let us get some photos together! I’m in Pennsylvania! I have the same mentality of I’m the caretaker for such an amazing car, and I want the world to experience it and love it as much as me!
I can still remember the wild tunning times here in Germany. In 1982 I saw the König Specials at the Essen Motor Show. I could only afford the König Special catalog for 20DM, where all the brilliant cars were listed. It was a great time with all the crazy tuning companies like Gemballa, dp Motorsport Brabus and so on. There were countless small tuning companies for the small purse, it was the golden age of car custom here in Germany.
That's why you should never sell it.. because you weren't of looking for the car that car found you, and now a beast of a machine with a special history and a story to tell and a man have become one. The way you tell the story gave me goosebumps. Its such a special car and I don't think anyone with care for it better than you. They will park it and it will be in an abandoned warehouse somewhere and no one will ever see it or even know a car like this existed. I was a BMW guy my whole life.. my parents got me a e46 2000 328i Sport when I was 18. The 328i was only made for 1 year and in 2001-2006 it became the 330i. I order the car from BMW and I believe the sticker price was around the 44k mark. As my parent wouldn't've let me get the Laguna Seca Blue e46 M3 6 speed I wanted.. I did the next best thing and got rid of the stock BBS 16s and got custom made M3 wheels staggered with 2" lip in front and 3" lip in back.. everyone thought I had 4 rear M3 tires installed until they looked closely. As a got older I got into Mazda and Rotary engines.. took ,e 6 years to find a white with red interior 40k miles 5speed N/A 1986 RX7... drove the car for 20k miles for the past 12 years and all I ever did was change the gas tank, brake lines etc. but the car runs flawlessly with 60k miles right now. 2 years ago I was working on Long Island NY, painting an old ladies house and I seen a 2001 740IL sitting in her garage and I asked her about it. She said that someone scratched her bumper one day about 2 years after she order the car brand new and decided to never drive it again. I asked her if the she had even started the car in years and she said she didn't remember when exactly she last started the car. I asked her if she would sell it and she told me to make her an offer and I paid her 18k cash because I told her that many problems might pop up on a car that hasn't moved in almost 2 decades, and really I was taking a risk. Did the same thing I did to the RX7, dropped tank, changed all fluids and I only drive the car on special Sundays, black on black, it had 16k miles now has closer to 18k miles but it was my dream car, and I feel like the car found me, I still haven't even fixed the little scratch on the front bumper because it barely noticeable. The RX7 took me 6 years to find, and the BMW found me, that's why when I die, bury me in my 740il.
Hello CMS Motorsports & Restauration, I’m Dan. Just remember my name because the screenshot of this car is going onto my dream wall and maybe in 20-30 years she will find her way back home to Germany. Ps: Thank you for the show
Hello Shant, great find. Congratulations on another addition to your collection. I was happy to see that you were able to spend time with the original owners and get the story first hand. The body kit mold is also an incredible find. Almost 40 years later you get an original mold from Willie Koenig, how about that! Question: what makes this Koenig 1 of 1? I'm trying to understand the details. Thank you
What a lovely car and amazing story. This is one of my favorites Mercedes cars ever. Growing up my dad had a 126C 560SEC. Amazing shots bro, hope I can see the car one day on person. Cheers pal
Yes, have to agree a great find and looks mint! Some information of engine and suspension mods and a veiw of whole car inside, bonnet, boot, etc would be great. Is it show as well as go? I have very good original spec 82, which has been my pleasure for 33 plus years and still drives beautifully. As in Australia no rust and last 25 years only week end drives. Hope you can oblige with more info. Thanks.
i have a 1990 Jaguar XJS Koenig Special v12 Convertible 27K miles 1 of 2. Its for sale, and mine is a euro delivery as well. Have all original docs including the factory assembly sheet.
Wow! Amazing video and the story behind it is awesome! You have a 1 0f 1 unicorn! The original moldings for the body kit that you were given, did the original owners themselves mold the kit in their bodyshop and install or done somewhere else?

Mercedes build with the last Model, the 560SEC a more powerful Car, the 560 was a 5.6 Litre V8 Engine without Catalytic Konverter and 300 hp !! it was one of the most powerful car, in the 80,th. - the Ferrari 348 ,for example, has only 290 hp.... it was the time of wide body kits and engine tuning. The Styling Garage for example build the 500/ 560SEC with wide body kit and Gull Wing Doors.Very exotic and expensive cars. These cars polarized the people in Germany because lot of guys from the "red Light district" and criminals drive these cars, so they got a bad image as a gangster Car... greetings from Germany

Thank you. I appreciate that. I'm glad you're here as well.

Were there any other mods done besides the body kit and wheels?
That saggy headliner would drive me crazy
Wow! Amazing video and the story behind it is awesome! You have a 1 0f 1 unicorn! The original moldings for the body kit that you were given, did the original owners themselves mold the kit in their bodyshop and install or done somewhere else?
Thanks so much! The molds were sent to the original owners by their personal friend Willy Koenig in a wooden crate along with the vehicle.
Beautiful car, you lucked out finding it. Vico with Patina Collective has 3 or 4 Koenig Specials C126’s but yours has a unique body kit. Nice video 👍🏼
