Decarbonising works so well I highly recommend it! Made my e46 325i engine feel BRAND NEW. It now runs 207 BHP after remap and decarb in the same week :-)
I'm guessing, that this series, was the last series, for these two. I'm a hit and miss viewer, but I can see why ED got pissed off by the new company's switch in ideas. Ed's great value was in his detailed work, and description of how, and why, he was doing what he was a doing. Mouthy Mike, while doing a reasonable job of working on the cars etc. and doing some pre--repairs and extra hunting for parts, it really did steel a lot of Eds camera time. Which he said, was why he called time on the show. Also, the fact that they had moved to California , while having some benefits. like great engineering company's to hand, with very high tech tools and machines etc it just wasn't quite the same as being in Britain, especially with price evaluations. Having watched a US car repair show where they do dream changes for rich people, it doesn't show much of how they actually achieved their undoubted high standard of work. SO no involvement for the viewer, and THIS, is the style that the new Wheeler Dealer's is going, not good..e.g Rich guy comes in, states he wants a very costly job done, he's told it will cost a zillion, he says ok. next day, amazing transformation is already done, gasps of amazement--, the end. Not for me.
Philip Croft: UK and Europe are too damn expensive to shoot-in....That's what Socialism gets you with Unions and Government Bureaucracy all wanting a piece of the action. It's why Southern California,Georgia, etc. are the must places for Television and Film Production Teams......maximize your return.
BlagoP : Much less... a simple and inexpensive Business Permit (usually) and haggle for a time-specific film Permit (some go annually.) UK and Europe, the Government and Trade Unions demand to have every piece of the action.....remember, with some exceptions, television and film productions are a bet....most will just break-even....few end-up being cash cows.
BlagoP: I've worked in the Industry.Take for example, the rental of a Digital/Film Camera..........your looking at $ $50,000-100,000+ for a week(depending on the time of year and the Camera Companies schedule)...that does not include Film or data storage and retrieval fee for Digital. It's a business where you pay 1st....no IOUs period. A film(time limited) Permit can cost as little as a couple hundred dollars in rural Counties. And you may or may not be required to purchase a business Permit $100.00-$500.00. Bigger Cities/Metro-Counties with greedy Politicians and Bureaucrats...then your looking at thousands of dollars(many times $100,000+)...but you will get to use law enforcement to close off roads and areas, etc. for that kind of dough.
My favorite episode since I own a black on black euro 500 SEC. Of course mine has not been given an AMG tribute upgrade! :-) The next time I need brake work I will likely upgrade to 560SEC rotors and calipers (plus ceramic pads to eliminate the horrendous brake dust caking my BBS wheels). I'll also do a custom exhaust at some point and possibly a tasteful sound system upgrade. That's enough for me. I love the original look. These are amazing rides.
@@planej6315 Superior in ride quality, handling and comfort. 100%. But also nightmares to maintain and that is the difference. if you have very deep pockets they are awesome. Frankly, I believe a well sorted w140 V8 coupe is about as well oiled a machine as one can find and drive better than modern equivalents. But how many of them are left? Most are driven into the ground. I myself have an 85 euro 500 SEC. The fact that they are much simpler makes life easier for me. :-)
nope we will not subscribe until Edd is back on the show. You guys are useless without Edd. He was the one who had made this wheeler dealers show one of the most watched show.
Great video. Love the idea. I have a stock 91 560SEC and am very interested in getting my car improved in performance as it done here. Any recommendations on how do get this done by a real expert like Edd is appreciated. Perhaps Edd's contact info would be a good start? Thanks.
I love Wheeler Dealers, but the 13th Season was the worst by miles. A lot of speaking and not a single explanation about how to do things, and why would you want an AMG lookalike Mercedes instead of buying a proper AMG?
Because buying one of these is nearly impossible now, even if you have an unlimited bank account they're very hard to find. And once they are found they demand a very high price, one sold recently in Europe for €235,000 at auction
The suits thought the fat guy was more important than Ed. Idiots. As for the AMG thing, do you know what a real one costs?! I thought not. I myself have a Euro grey market 500SEC with 108k miles I bought from the original owner. These cars are just fantastic. But I won't convert it to an AMG clone. I prefer the stock look.
I understand you all and yes, the car they did here was still very good, but mostly I'm talking about how the 13th season missed the point: Wheeler Dealers in my opinion is about learning how to fix the basic issues of your classic car by yourself. This is nothing like that. This is a work for expert mechanics, expert coachbuilders and expert parts finders (the AMG panels), and they don't explain you well enough how to do it. They should have bought a 560SEC already converted to widebody with some issues and show how to fix that, in my opinion.
I am not a mercedes fan but the 500sec is one of the most beautyfull cars ever made. Europe version that is. The American version is to high on the wheels and fugly bumpers.
The ugly headlights too. As far as performance goes the American ones also had lower compression engines, and often a little resistor chip that retarded the timing because apparently people in America kept using low octane fuel and wrecking the engines. The American 560sel (5.5L v8) for example had about 70 less hp than the European or Australian versions.
I love these cars timeless design or maybe just bc of my age this was the first car I ever noticed as a child that made me do a double take I had every magazine and article on it god I was lame 😂😂
They made $6000. $6000 80 hrs. work How much is the shop time?? The guy who did the work has to get paid. With his skills he has to be worth $60 an hour. $60 x 80 hrs. = $4,800 $6,000 - $4,800 = $1,200 profit before deducting his time to purchase, test drive and sell the car ( because time is money) so let's say $200 for his time. That comes to approx. $1,000 profit??? In maybe minimum of 3 weeks, from time he left to originally purchase the car till he cashed a check. AND HE GOT THAT EXCITED ABOUT WHAT????
The full version of this episode is the greatest piece of television ever produced.
