- Meet Impact, the largest Maine Coon in our feline family. He is almost 9 years old and he is larger than the average male of this breed. Maine Coons are often referred to as gentle giants and he is the best reflection of that. He has a rather formidable appearance, weighs over 30 lbs, and is also the sweetest and gentler Maine Coon I know.

my cat felix is part maine coon and when he was smaller (thank god) he used to lay on my chest but one morning I couldn't figure out why my whole neck felt like I got choked out and then remembered felix stepping on my neck the night before.
@@thecaptainsnark My biggest boys only got up to around 16 pounds. But I always loved having that much purr laying on me. 💖 Maine Coon mixes and a Ragdoll. And a Turkish Angora mix, though she's about 10 pounds.

I remember seeing an MC at a cat show here in New Zealand at least 15 years ago, and the Coonie I was admiring, was 16kg at 21 months of age. That gorgeous boy filled 2 cages, and in the end the judge had to disqualify him, because he couldn't pick him up. That was my first introduction to the world of Maine Coons. Never did I think I would eventually end up being owned by one. Robert ... your boy is a total honey, and his name fits him so very well. We really are so blessed to be able to share our lives with these amazing cats, aren't we 🙂

I miss my friend's Maine Coon. She rescued him off the streets in a place in South East Asia, got his health & papers sorted out & brought him to the other side of the globe. What a regal and noble cat I loved him to pieces. He left us years ago but will live on through memories.
My dog is only 20 lbs and Impact is 30!? 🐾. So cute how affectionate he is with Bob. He’s a gentle giant. 💗🐾🐈
I used to have a roommate who had a little 9 pound Yorkie. His dog looked tiny next to my Ragdoll and my Maine coon mix. Lol.

In Boston we would call him Snappah!
He's HUGE!!! Gorgeous and HUGE! We had a Maine Coon named Taylor who topped out at 27 lbs. He was a great big ball of fluff, lol. Miss him terrible. He died 2 yrs. ago from diabetes. God, I miss that cat.
Hugs. I still miss my big boy who passed over 15 years ago. And I pray every day that my big fluffs who I have now will live as long and happy and healthy as they can. They really are an important part of our world. 💖
My Smirnoff was a mix, 20lbs. Lost him in December. He would have been 19 on April 12. Miss him so much. 😻😻😻😻

That's a great cat! I had a MC who lived to be 21 and he was a butterscotch color. I miss those ear tufts and the extra fluff between the toes. His name was Ojos de Oro (Eyes of Gold) but he was always O.O. to us.

I had a Red Somali so I get what you're saying. He finished his show career as a CFA National Winner then retired with us; all of the travel etc must have done something to his personality because he was much more subdued than expected and could be very clingy and needy.

In our house, the red cats ALWAYS stick together even tho they’re not related. I have one 18 year old solid red female domestic shorthair, one 3 year old male Oriental Shorthair, and one 1 year old male Scottish Fold/Maine Coon mix, they’re all solid red in color, and they always hang out with one another, despite them having come into our house at different times, and despite the six other cats in our house. I think they are attracted to each other through color, and I have found that very often, similarity colored cats have very similar personalities. A Calico cat is completely different from a solid black cat in personalities and attitudes. I’m pretty sure other cat owners can attest to similar experiences.

We have a 'mini' Maine Coon who was the runt of his litter, and so didn't grow very big.
He's 3 years old, about 10 lbs. and still has kitten face while he has the mane , fluffy tail, and side floof of a regular - sized MC.

They are both gorgeous! Impact is a big boy! We have a 12 year old Maine Coon named Zazu. Although, we didn't know it at the time when we adopted him from a shelter. He was this cute little black kitten. That kept growing. And growing! He's on the smaller side for a Maine Coon but he has all the features and of course, that gentle and loveable personality! 😊❤️ He still acts like a kitten and is healthy as can be!

For such a huge feline, Impact has a playful nature, with his ginger buddy Bob. They're best bros!! The average size for a Maine Coon is 1 1/2 to 2 feet in length, whereas the largest MCs on record are four feet long.
In addition to being gentle giants, Coon cats will follow you around, just like a dog. I may adopt one in the future. . .

Oh! The shot with both Impact and rescue Bob wearing the exact same facial expressions is priceless. Years ago, I adopted an enormous, crippled, Ragdoll and his petite Bermese sister - as the two were "velcroed" one to another and could not cope with being separated. People panicked upon seeing him, thinking he must have been some sort of Lynx....However, being Ragdoll, he was a love machine. So delightful to see your big ginger...and little Bob - so glad that you kept little Bob. I am certain he feels as if he was truely rescued and is in a heavenly home.
