Lawrence McCutcheon was my favorite football player as a young kid....
04:55 at 8 years old i was at the Los Angeles Coliseum on this play when McCutcheon scored this touchdown run against the Giants and on the same play going over 1,000 yards rushing for the 1st time in his career....
Here's another McCutcheon video i made that about 10 years ago... Enjoy!

He didn't get hurt. He didn't fumble. He didn't get tired. He didn't talk trash. I loved him.

The 2 great 30's in Rams history, McCutcheon and Gurley.

Giants fan here but anytime I got to watch the rams Lawrence was my favorite. Man those NFL teams of the 70’s were awesome

I was 7 when the Rams got McCutcheon and he was my favorite player. Had a couple of those generic #30 jerseys in Ram colors when I was a kid here in Southern California from the local JC Penney. There are some really cool clips in this post, from NFL films to live broadcasts. McCutcheon was really fast and a tough guy to bring down. I remember his devastating hamstring injury, it was ugly. Thrilled he came back and got that TD pass in the Super Bowl after Wendell Tyler became the starter. Miss Dick Bass' voice on the Ram radio games, and those gorgeous uniforms in the sunshine at the Coliseum. The 70's rule.

There was one year that the Rams had four guys from the OL in the Pro Bowl, Doug France, Tom Mack, Rich Saul and Dennis Harrah.

Wow, thank you so much for posting this. The Rams were my favorite team growing up. I cried when they lost the Super Bowl to the Steelers. I was 19 when that happened, I used to love watching the Rams run the Packer sweep with Lawrence, was he a beast or what? Great vid, thanks again!!!

I agree. He was likely my favorite Ram then, too. #30 could do it all.

It just seemed like yr after yr the Rams would develop newer and better running backs to totally dominate the league. Teams used to be shellshocked when they had to defend against the Ram run game. If McCutcheon didn't bulldoze a linebacker or have an extra burst of speed that took him 25-30 yards for a big TD no D n the league could contain it.

Miss those old dominant Rams who could run the ball forever and score at will.

Yes, their defense was unbelievable too. They had shit Quarterbacks though.
