  • Ballistics gel testing the Cutting-Edge 155gr 7mm/.284 MTH at high velocity, shot out of a 7mm Rem Mag and lower velocity simulating longer range, shot out of a 7mm-08.
After further inspection I realized the high velocity round had actually tumbled and exited the top mid section of the second block. It had a retained weight of 151.3 grains. The low velocity one had a retained weight of 136.2 grains.
I am wanting to do more testing with these at high velocity as this is twice now the high velocity rounds have had greater weight retention's then the low velocity ones.

Another informative test.Glad to see some monolithic bullets that perform correctly.

I need to do some more high velocity testing because this is twice now the high velocity bullet has had higher weight retention than the low velocity and I'm not sure what's going on.
Even at high velocity they're giving decent permanent wound cavity but looking at the bullets I've captured I'm not sure that there's not something going on that would be considered a failure because they are not mushrooming back properly and shedding pedals like cutting edge claims.
I've tested a lot of bullets and I've tested other cutting edge this is the 1st one that I have tested that the high velocity rounds are retaining more weight then at low velocities and not shedding the petals appropriately. I do plan on shooting a bunch of high velocity into gel and if I get more of the similar "failures" then I will make a video overviewing those.
Again this has only happened with the 155 grain match tactical hunting in 7 mm no other bullet of any kind has ever given me results like this and twice in a row now has me really wondering what's going on and why are these bullets not doing what they should at higher velocities.
