Superb video. I love the Miniart kits. I've bought quite a few and what I do is use silicone or liquid latex and make molds of them for future use. This is handy for roads and pavements but where it really comes in handy is with manholes, roofing and fencing plus all the sundries. Clean them up, make a nice clean mold and you have an unlimited supply of model sundries. I've also done the same with the Tamiya brick walls set, sandbags, Jerry cans etc and saved a fortune!

@@Mysmallhobby I can assure you that MiniArt do not mind people making plaster casts of their buildings kits. I do it myself then use those to extend the kits, OR make entirely new buildings. I've shown these in WIPs on my RUclips channel and on a model-maker's website and MiniArt personnel have viewed my work on the former, if not the latter. They have no issue whatsoever, because we have purchased the kits, have built them and/or have used them to create extended buildings, or new ones, and by publishing the results, we are basically PAYING them for the privilege of doing THEIR advertising for them LOL. But again, my thoughts are with the people of Ukraine, and MiniArt. MiniArt 'fled' Crimea when it was 'annexed' by Russia, and are now based in Kiev, so they really haven't had an easy life. The second dio kit has the new telegraph poles set including that just came out a couple of month ago I have the set the sprues are exactly from that set that's interesting! I love these! Being older mini art you will expect flash but maybe of they re issued them again now.as harder to come by now they would be alot better after they changed there suppliers and using new high grade plastic

Hi Scottish Bonsai :) thank you for your comment. Yes media arts plastic is improving and also their molding process. Even their newer figures are much better made than the previous batch .

Great video, but with regards to the 'flash' I do think you're overlooking the fact that MiniArt were a small, newly emerging company when they had the tools made for their injection molded parts. Over the decades since, the tooling has worn and so the flash has gotten worse. Okay, they could and maybe SHOULD get new tooling, but I know that they had to move their 'factory' in recent years, due to the political turmoil in Ukraine, and maybe they are not as 'rich' as we might think. I don't know, but a bit, or even a lot of flash isn't a big problem. And consider the fact is most of those injection molded parts aren't used in every kit, but they are still provided, and so you can build up a library of such parts for use in further dioramas. They are great for scratch-building. Aside from all that, thanks for the kit reviews.

MiniArt is known for it's accessories and dioramas. I still don't understand why people/"model builders", especially the older guys & gals, complain so much about a little bit of flash, ejector pin marks and vacumold through hole nipples or having to glue round pieces that were cast in halves. Are you a model builder or just a plastic kit assembler? Dealing with flash, ejector pin marks and vacumold nipples is just part of building models. Perhaps you should think about educating yourself on the high volume plastic molding/casting/vacuum molding works. The tooling costs are well into the tens of thousands of dollars. Since they know they will likely continue using molds well past their designed life span they can keep the cost of the kits to the customers much more affordable. Also because they know...... real model builders won't bitch and moan about a little flash, because real model builders know that so long after the initial run of a particular model kit the molds will start to wear out and you will start seeing more flash. And with how easy it is to clean up, since you should be cleaning the seams anyway, it's not like you don't have to run your blade over that place anyhow.
Also, to separate the walls and roofs, all you have to do is run a scribe along the edge, following the contours a few times & it will "break loose" and leave you with a nice edge that, if done properly, will take minimal "clean up", if any.
Bottom line is, stop complaining about flash. If you want the manufacturers to stop using a mold the instant it starts showing flash and make a new mold so you don't have to clean an edge/seam that needs to be cleaned up anyway? You should be prepared to start bitching about the price of the model kit when it triples or quadruples because you don't want to have to deal with flash.
Suck it up buttercup or find yourself another hobby because I don't want to have to pay triple or quadruple the price because of people like you that aren't real model builders, because we don't complain about things like that. We just cut it off & sand it smooth or fill it with putty or sprue goo & sand it smooth and get on with the build because that's just part of build a scale plastic/styrene model.

I like that my video or any other video would spark a debate. And while you do have a valid point and I agree with you, it is not fair to justify high prices with quality molds. No one want's to pay more for models and it breaks my heart, that when ever we get new molds in the store, I can't sell them at low, low prices because there is no meat on the bone left for me at the end of the day. Also justifig high price due to manufacturing of molds and calling people "not modelers" because they prefere better build experience is like bitcing well it's insainly hard to make a good and safe car. So you are not a "real driver" because you prefere to be safe and comfortable, while I like to live on the edge and drive a dinky car with bad breaks, poor suspension and no airbags. :) A little bit of Flash probably doesn't bother 99% of the people. But but when you have a scale model that has flashing and parts that do not fit correctly together, then that's just sloppy and poor manufacturing. And if that manufacturer also re packages old things and put new labels on them and new price tags, that are higher than they're supposed to be, that really makes me mad. So just like in the car industry, you have good scale model manufacturers that have good molds, good practices and good fitting parts. But you also have companies that don't perform as well. And the prices should reflect that. That is the business that they have stepped into and have to deal with it. You also have to understand that some people prefer painting their model to building it. No scale manufacturer will ever satisfy every single wish of every single individual in the world. But in this world there are good manufacturers and there are bad manufacturers and the bad manufacturers should either learn from the good or stay the way they are and hope that people buy their models. :)

@@Mysmallhobby All but the newest releases of any kit have flash, sometimes even initial runs have flash. Some Dragon kits are well known for their excessive flash.
As far as price goes I don't know of another diorama kit manufacturer doing vacuum formed buildings or terrain so there really are no apples to apples comparisons. As far as MiniArts diorama accessories who else makes similar plastic kits as nicely detailed for less money? Sure for buildings and terrain, there are resin and plaster kits but they are no less expensive and usually more. And they also have their own shortcomings that modelers must overcome.
For the most part, MiniArts kits are pretty good quality. Their older molds do have issues with flash, the sprues in this review that exhibit excessive flash are some of those. Remember those sprues are from various stand-alone kits added to the vacuum formed parts. The discussion over these sprues has been happening for years. The original kit that contained the gutters and downspouts was taken out of production and only returned because it was in high demand. I don't think anybody at MiniArt is sitting around "hoping that people buy their models". These kits don't seem to sit on the shelves long at my local hobby shops. At least it's light flash and nowhere near as bad as AMT kits of the '80s and '90s when at times you literally had to carve your parts from it.
Let's face it building dioramas isn't really for the lowest skill level builders. Especially this type of kit, where it needs other items to finish it like people, vehicles, debris, grass, trees, etc. Dioramas tend to require at least some scratch building/kit modification, surly a modeler attempting that can handle some flash, ejector pin marks, and vacuum form nipples. If a person prefers the painting process over the build process then they either need to acquire building skills or the skills of an accomplished builder. I prefer the building process over the painting process but I have to hone my painting skills to complete my builds. It's taken a lot of hours of practice, experimenting, research, and careful thought to get to a point where I'm happy with the results of my diorama builds.
