- More focused on a couple of tips for dealing with MiniArt's formed plastic than reviewing the kit. Also a request for help from any Dutch speakers (well, Dutch writers to be accurate...).

Nice vid Forbes , I recently did a minimart building , its a lot of work with the knife, they do have great detail but are a pain to fit together.Good luck with it bud
Its 2018 surely Miniart can update their moulding process.
@Don Sanchez : Confiserie is not a bakery but a shop specialized in candies, with an owner who usually creates and produces his own candies. And coiffeur (not coiffure), is a hairdresser
Good tips. Always find can form daunting. Cheers
Armour Empire Thanks, hopefully they help. The internet and youtube have been great for modellers, we can share videos of tips and techniques in a way that magazines and books never could (plus it's free...more money for the models).
Forbes Hutton Very good point....
Confisserie is a bakery and would be bakkerij in Dutch. I'm having a hard time seeing some of the other signs because of the glare from the camera. Thanks for the tips. I've actually got one of these kits that I have been wanting to build into a diorama.
Hey there!, have you ever seen the work of Kazuya Yoshioka?. He is on Facebook and used Miniart buildings, but super detailed them all for a Saint Lo diorama with a large group of GI`s and a Panzer Lehr Division Panzer IVH that is abandoned on the street with the Americans in a firefight!. I see and know that these buildings are a pain the neck, but he (Kazuya) went and made these into master pieces.
Use styrene strips between the wall's.
Have fun
Hello use evergreen plastic to build a frame inside the base
Just built my first Miniart kit. The one thing you learn about the buildings is that nothing ever fits properly on them. Lots of Evergreen and modelling putty needs to be used. If you're a person who expects accuracy these kits will do your head in.
Hi Forbes,
Do you still need some tips for the dutch signs for your dio? I'm from Holland and i could help you with that. I also know a dutch firm which sells dutch signs and advertisements in 1/35 scale.
Cheers, Rob
Nice review, I'm interested in getting one of these in the near future for a project.
I don't speak Dutch but why don't you type it into google and use their translator? Should work ok as those are pretty simple words......
CAFE is written café. We also say bar(Belgium and the Netherlands) or kroeg(the Netherlands).
the sign coiffeur : Heren- Haarkapper- Dames
confiserie - we also say confiserie or snoepwinkel or pralinewinkel or chocoladewinkel (eg: www.leonidas.com/be_nl/assortments/confectioneries) it depends on what they sell (candy, chocolates ...or all of them) :)
hope this helps
What is it that you need translated into Dutch? I speak Dutch and my wife is Dutch. Google translator is ok but often it translates things literally which doesnt always work.
Sorry just watched the video to the end. Will talk to my wife. We lived not too far from Arnhem.
I think Simone could put all the part together and make a-moulds
Coiffure is a barber shop and would me "kapper" in Dutch. To the side of kapper is dames, ladies and here's, gentlemen.
Cool vid, but. Arnhem? That's in the Netherlands. Doesn't really look like France. But cool project.
I have a question for you can you please tell me how big the base is in inches please
13.25" x 10"
@@forbeshutton5487 thank you very much
Model Art? You mean "Mini Art" I assume?
Here's is supposed to be heren. Stupid auto correct on iPad.
Oh man, they are such pieces of garbage. Tried one, decided to build from scratch using sheet styrene and strip, basswood, cardboard, and molds I made of bricks and stone from a model railroad store. Built light, strong, and square, and most importantly at half the price and less hassle.
Same here! Miniart buildings are expensive, ill fitting junk.
