  • Today we will take some stock styrene figures and we will do a complete conversion in order to make them do what we want. Building, cutting, sculpting, and filling will be the key words.

I'm just getting into building models (and dioramas once I'm ready) and in the TON of research I've been doing (I'm very focused on 1/35 WWII European Theater), I don't see much in the way of intense emotion, movement, and horrors of war that I know from my own experiences, exist.
Obviously, there are limitations for the majority of builders based on what model makers put on the market, and as best as I can tell, model makers are offering more in the areas I'm discussing - various arms, heads, etc and it looks like "wounded" and "dead" in this genre are being designed and created, but having spent a lot of time in war zones, I know there is a lot more intensity and emotion and brutality that, if done well could be conveyed in diorama builds and I want my work to represent that...to the best that I'm able.
Therefore...learning from you how to cut, wire, and mold figures is a HUGE weight off my shoulders because the truth is, I don't want to invest all the time, education, and efforts into learning how to do this if I'm ultimately limited by what model makers offer - You enlightened me on how I can have greater control and ownership over my work AND how to practically do it, that doesn't require a 3D printer and the mind of an MIT student.
While I'm a looooong way off, from building my first diorama (I just ordered my first WWII figures and a small Vallejo German Infantry paint set and scrapping the $$ for that was hard enough as 53-year-old, married, dad of 5 kids...I don't see the money I make LOL!), I already have a clear plan for what I intend to create.
Again, huge thank you for sharing your knowledge - your personality (especially your dry sense of humor), ideas, and finished work make you great at this! I hope to be able to join your Patron group at some point. @@dioramadevil

Oct. 10, 2022---Thanks for the video as it's the FIRST one I've seen where/how figures are modified. The only other one I've seen is where a guy makes a wire armature and uses putty to build up the body, which is beyond my skill. Working on a 1/35 Master Box pinup girl that I'll use in a 1/35 scale zombie/apocalypse diorama. lots of neat tricks shown that I'll be using, though probably use Milliput as that's what I have on hand, along with those silicone brushes you use4d.
