Zagato Embodies Essential Beauty

- The master sculptor Michelangelo famously said "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."
Driven by the sole purpose of winning races, Zagato built a legend of creating objects of indisputable beauty born by removing all elements that were unessential. With aerodynamics, lightness, and speed as the ultimate objectives, the coachbuilder bestowed upon us sculpture after sculpture of essential beauty.
The 1957 Alfa Romeo 1900 SSZ conveys this philosophy perfectly. Andrea Zagato, who today continues the legend with the same uncompromising principles as his grandfather Ugo Zagato 95 years ago, shares with us how this Alfa Romeo's shape was born and the experience of driving it today.

I'm not sure whether I'm alone or not but I press like before seeing each video of petrolicious !!
The soundtrack of Petrolicius videos always reminds me of Gran Turismo 4 and 5
finalmente un video di una macchina italaina commentato in italiano!
finally a video of a italian car commented in italian! thanks ***** ;)
Im proud to say that i have owned 3 cars in my life.. They have all been Alfa Romeos.
I can speak a small about of Italian, but I think I can more than understand this video, Thanks Petrolicious!
Thanks for the Gran Turismo lounge jazz, I can't take in a car's looks without that style music playing.
in time like these i am proud to be italian!
i guess Im kind of randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch newly released series online ?
@Ezekiel Anderson Try Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Ezekiel Anderson I use Flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Ezekiel Anderson lately I have been using flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Ezekiel Anderson Try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
The opening jazz music was absolutely perfect. Really set the mood for the whole video
its amazing how much I can infer/understand what hes saying without knowing italian and only a little broken spanish. a lot of common words and english sounding words to get the point across. Aerodynamica, machina, bella!
Oh my god. That's beautiful.
gorgeous soundtrack, gorgeous video and obviously gorgeous car!! Go Petrolicious!!!
The Italian Language rolls of his tongue with perfection , just as the Italian Alfa rolls on the highway with perfection! 🤓👍
Class
What I love tremendously about fat free classic cars of the 50-60’s is that they beyond their lean stylish bodywork are created with the right ground clearance, not absurdly elevated like overblown SUV’s of today and not with bodywork lowered almost to the extent that it scrapes along the tarmac like almost all modern cars with sports pretensions. A car car like this Alfa Zagato has a ground clearance which is spot on. It looks airy and allows the suspension to breathe over road undulations.
The Zagato Carrera GT in the background is hard not to notice
These videos are the best thing on the internet ! I watched it twice once with Captions and once with out.
You can see a lot of where the style of the beautiful front on the 8C Competizione came from
Zagato forever !!
I like how there are no subtitles until you actually bother to turn them on :)
The editing and music choice are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Although only having 38 videos (now), this channel is AMAZING.
I like the fact that you did nor dub this video. Subtitles makes you aware of the plentitude of languages and means of expression. The way to go!
Agreed, that sky lounge jazz music killed it fore me a little. ALL we need to hear in this/these videos is the sounds the car makes, the voice of the owner, and natural background noises (like the sound of a sleepy Italian town on a stormy day). No filler please. Speech (or in this case shitty jazz music) is silver, but silence is golden.
G Man *Shitty jazz music?*
Even though I´ve never heard of many of these cars before, I feel so connected.
very good video.once again PETROLICIOUS
C'est juste le meilleur pour toujours....
Beautiful footage as usual, guys. Lovely to hear Signor Zagato in italian, it fits much better the images shown, adds even more beauty!
Pininfarina, Zagato, Bertone, Ghia, Scaglietti, Vignale... italians do it better.
Alfa TZ1 and 2 , Aston DB4GTZ , the epitone of BEAUTY .
Does anyone know the title of the opening song ?
Would love to listen to it in its entirety
You have to manually enable subtitles via the Captions button.
Oh yes now that I saw it I remember. Looks good indeed. Thanks!
Grazie 🇮🇹
Questa non e' una vettura!! Questo e' un amore di Vettura.
It should still be there if you click the CC button on your browser or in your RUclips mobile app.
So professional!
Sweet and elegant car. Wonder what that gold car is in the background. It is nice to see the subtitles
Damn that profile shot at 6:11! Swoon!
btw... im brazilian and i dont speak italian... but the speaks so cleary that i could understand almost everything!!!
Didn't really need the subtitles, I 'understood' everything
One word....."Wow!"
Very emotional videos, thank you!
That is a beautiful car, as always keep up the videos
That intro music tho...
Subtitles are provided.
LOVE IT!
I tell you, you don’t need subtitles whether you speak Italian or not! La musica! L’Alfa 🍀
Bellissima
The front end is odd with the protrusion in the middle to house the grille. But from the A-pillars back, it is truly gorgeous, I think.
I think that’s the most beautiful part to be honest, I can’t really explain it, but it really adds to the overall elegance of the car. Just as expected of a Zagato I guess
They're not there by default, you need to click the "cc" button to enable them
most Zagato's aren't typically pretty, but they're very much functional whilst still being distinctive, so i respect that, rather than awe at it
grazie
No idea what he's saying but the car is superb - there's not one Zagato bodied car that fails to impress.
un ' opera d' arte
I've never seen that before! Man, that's cool. However it could have been mentioned in the description! ;)
Another great video! I wonder why the car has Maryland plates on it if its in Italy?
Grand pappy Latin left his mark on pretty much every European language these days :)
Magical :D
Maybe because the owner of the car is from the USA. Check the plate, it says Maryland. So the car is registered in the US. Maybe Zagato bought the car from an enthusiast based on the US, to keep it in the house's Museum.
Quizas porque el dueño del auto es de Estados Unidos, fijate la patente, dice q es de Maryland, asi q esta registrado en Estados Unidos. Probrablemente Zagato lo compro para el museo de la firma a un coleccionista norteamericano.
Saludos!
Click on CC next to the settings Icon
Maybe y’all should just call this the Alfalicious channel. I mean, there are lots of other cars out there.
thanks bro
there ARE subtitles :)
Click on CC and Click English. The video is totally worth watching even though it's not in English.
your videos are brilliant!the only issue i have is the time!only 7 mins..u guys need to start working on making documentaries!
Turn on captions , there is a subtitle.
I think quite possibly the finest lines of any car in the world. Is the car fuel injected? I rather doubt it but just thought I would ask. With those velocity stacks its probably carbureted. I for a long time wished id had a Ferrarri 250 gt Elena. But after seeing your work of art I think I might change my mind. There are no doubt secret amendments in the chasis and skin of course you may not want to divulge. Large pistons? Off axis? Would like to know the engineering behind the engine and suspension. I dont blame you for wanting to protect your baby, I would too! Beautiful lipstick red! Thank you for showing her.Gratzi!😅
David lynch ,loves this vehicle ,he thinks it beautiful and ugly and represents lots of things ,he a classic example of this car ,I don't know this I guessed
activate the english subtitles!!! (the icon next to the gear one, on the player interface)
why is there no subtitles?
Uhm, what is a Carrera GT doing there at 5:01? Was it designed by Zagato?
It's that front end. from the back it looks cool and the interior is extremely detailed and amazing but as soon as i see that front end i'm just like "eh." Butterface
I totally thought that's a Gran Turismo/Forza render or something!
not my favorite video but it's good
Does anybody know where the translation for this video went??
I couldn't understand a word of Italian.
Until now..
Cars once had character and personality, not like today that they all come out of a computer.
Transcript on !
Kinda hard to read and watch but great video
you click on the CC button and select english.
youre welcome.
Damn right "sure".
ya, a car from MD, woohoo!
Nice video, as expected. Being from argentina, i really dont know why would he put a USA sticker in the back of that beauty....
One last thing! Was that a ZZg4 model zagato, I guess i could just call it a double bubble but wanted the actual style number, Z z something? Just so I can brag to other officianatos Ive just seen the most beautiful car in the world. I wanted to be an automotive designer when I was younger. Again, depest appreciation and Ill let you get your dinner.😅
no subtitles on mobile
Just makes me want to eat spaghetti.
Damn, this whole time i was trying to translate what he was saying and didnt even notice the cc button --___--
At one point I thought he'd never drive that car
Turn on the captions, there are English subtitles available.
I know Spanish and afew italian words so i can understand key words and make my conclusions
I'm assuming that Maryland plate car was imported to Italy.
Topolino mean's Mickey Mouse,l drove one the last century with two abarth carbs. The engine were a four on line, with only two main bearings;it has just a 500 cc. engine capacity.
really Petrolicious.... I get it. You guys love Italian cars.... SO DO I! Could I at least get some subtitles! Kinda weak sauce folks.
ok sure.
Anyone else think the opening music sounds like the home screen in GT5?
Subtitles?
turn on captioons
Wow, the car is registered as a historic vehicle in Maryland. I wonder if he's local...
Boxer ? In the 1900 ?
Jazz complements Zagato, capiche?
