    I’m gonna carb swap my 93 Silverado.
    I have the same exact gremlins you had in yours
    Stuttering, hesitating, runs like ass, etc.
    Just had it tuned up, new plugs, new wires, new rotor cap and button, etc, still runs like shit. Runs rich too
    I at first thought it was the absence of my 02 sensor, but my truck is acting eerily like how you describe yours did before the swap. I figure, the less electrical shit on it, the better at this point. She’s old and has had a rough life for the 15 hrs I’ve had her. 3 motors, two transmissions, a rough life.

      Definitely the way to go, I had a bunch of people tell me I’d run into a lot of issues with a carb, the only issues I’ve ran into was at first I couldn’t get my TPS adjusted right but once I figured it out it runs like a top, I’ve never looked back after the swap

      Half of the issues with a carb swap is finding the right carburetor, I’ve had spectacular luck with my edelbrock

    You basically had the same problem I had in my 88 Tbi, I got tired of putting money into finding the problem I’m going to carb swap mine now

      That’s the way to do it, it fixed all my issues and it runs like a whole new truck. At first I had a few bugs with the throttle position sensor for my edelbrock carb so the transmission was a little funny but we got the bugs ironed out and it is flawless.

      @@nickconnors8515 how much money would you say it took to carb swap ?

    • @nickconnors8515

      It was probably $600-$800 ish dollars and I didn’t need an intake or anything. I don’t exactly remember but I know it was in that range.

    I did a complete frame up restoration on a 1988 K1500 Silverado. All new parts and all new motor. TBI wouldn’t run correctly no matter what, wasted over $1,000 replacing and trouble shooting. I carb swapped it, the thing to be careful of is what transmission you have and wiring up a torque converter bypass or several other options depending on your transmission

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  2 года назад

      So far, my 4l60e has shifted and ran great since I adjusted the TPS.

    • @rmmm6725
      @rmmm6725 2 года назад +1

      @@nickconnors8515 right, the tps you installed is what is needed for your model trans. The 200 and 700r4 will need a kit that locks the torque converter in 4th gear. This kit is a pain to install honestly but it will keep the transmission shifting correctly and running at the correct temp.

    I heard that if your carburetor swap a 90s truck with the 4l60e that the 4l60e requires a certain hp and stuff which would make it to where if you did a carb swap to it then it would shift bad and over time destroy the transmission

      I’m going on 17k miles on this carb swap, so far shifts like a dream and no signs of excessive wear or hard shifts. Been running and driving beautifully, so far so good we will see what happens! Thank you for the heads up.

    Im saving up to buy a 1989 S10 Blazer with a 4.3 and now that I saw this 5 part series I'm now seriously considering doing this to it sometime after I buy one next year. Will also be doing a speedo cable swap as well as i want to completely eliminate the computer and engine harness.

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Год назад

      Can’t blame ya! The TBI system wasn’t awful but it would randomly give me issues and no matter what kind of diagnosis I could read about nothing ever surfaced about the causes. Gutting all that and putting a carburetor on it was definitely the move.

  • @jerrymorgan2769
    @jerrymorgan2769 Год назад +1

    Well...ya got one of those ECM motors ....that will running during failure....omit all that ...
    Get ya a carb..a 1970 fuel pump...a TPS BRACKET
    if 4L60 E
    And get back to the ENGINE won't run during failure
    Not make it run anyway

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Год назад +1

      Yes sir! Got rid of all that electric stuff, only electronics left is the electric fuel pump and the few sensors the 4L60 requires.

    Dude, you give me hope on my s10. Bought it for 300 bucks, but out about 1000 on sensors. I'm doing the same by carb swap. I'm REALLY nervous about it considering this'll be by only transportation but you give me a bit of peace of mind. Still nervous though.

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Год назад

      It is nerve racking. I was in a similar boat, no matter what i did it didn’t run right and I needed it for transportation. I stayed up one night reading every article I could about it and eventually just decided I gotta do it. Once i dove in it wasn’t too bad.

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Год назад +1

      I’d love to give you one but I’m honestly not sure, I bought the truck with it on there, I believe it was already kinda customized at some point in its life. I know it had the 3 bolt holes for the old TBI unit and it also had the holes for a carburetor I only had to add the two secondary holes for the ports on the 4 barrel. All the bolt holes were already on it.
