However, Italian is the way to go if you're looking for an expensive shotgun imo.

    I wanted to say that this video pushed me to get this as my first (purchased) gun. I saw this review, thought about it, did research because California laws are very stupid and after getting a stupid 'safety' card as well as waiting 10 days, I finally got it yesterday. A few hours playing with snap caps I bought during the waiting period and I can manipulate the gun like a competition shooter lol.
    Thank you Hickok, if it weren't for this video, I never would have known one of my dream guns (a mossberg cruiser) was so cheap that even I could afford it! I got a hogue grip and a fiberglass heat shield since I was so impatient during those 10 days, turned my maverick into a badass cruiser the moment I got home.
    Part of me is a bit upset at you though, I now have the urge to get an AR, a decent glock, maybe an sks.... dear god what have you done to me

      @@TheTruth-sd8ey
      Recoil is stout. With high brass shells it can be brutal. I have no complaints but for the average home owner looking for a house gun for protection the whole family can shoot I would recommend this or something similar in 20 ga. The reason is because in a self defense situation the shot should be inside 21 feet where the pattern will still be tight enough to remain effective.

    • @TheTruth-sd8ey
      @TheTruth-sd8ey Год назад

      @@Slugg-O I've read this shotgun weighs only 6 lbs. Would such a low weight contribute to a high recoil? Or maybe a hollow polymer stock? How would you compare the recoil from Mossberg Maverick 88 to Mossberg 500, Remington 570 or Winchester SPX Defender? I am deciding between one of those, but my budget is low, since i just bought an AR, so Maverick caught my attention. If i had the money, i'd probably go with Remy, but it's morr than twice the price here.

    • @StevenKormane
      @StevenKormane Год назад +2

      @@TheTruth-sd8ey to be brief, all NON semi-auto (gas or inertia) recoil is directly proportional to weight (gross and balance). This is buffered by what recoil pad you use.
      Therefore: lighter; more recoil (see Newton).
      Buy a great RELIABLE firearm, the one you can afford. You can aftermarket the recoil later. It's all about mass (the science version, not Sunday Soul Sessions).

    I bought my Maverick-88 with a 24" RIFLED barrel called the Slugster, shortly after getting my Mossberg 500 Combo. I love the Maverick with the 18" barrel from the 500 but will also swap out the 28" Skeet/Trap Ventilated Rib barrel when shooting in the high plains of Colorado. Both of the Mossbergs shoot like a dream and the action are smooth and FAST. Mainly the Maverick is for Home Defense with the 18" barrel and 00-Buck or #4 loaded, The 500 is in the Gun Rack above the Safe with the 24" barrel and SLUGS as a backup. Life is Good with a pair of Mossberg 12ga shotguns.

He has definitely shown that you don't need a 30-60 round semi with a drum mag to protect hearth and home and has hopefully inspired people to become skilled with a scattergun.
