    Same here, I regretted selling my 1st gen Aquis 43mm for a long time, now I'm a happy owner of the 43mm Cal400. Aquis is one of few unique diver designs out there and Oris is doing some great things with their watches and movements.

      Did u buy the newer version with the cal 400-2 with heavier rotor and hand wobble fix? If not u can send it in and they will replace it free of chargem

    You're absolutely right mate! I happen to own an even smaller 39.5 mm Aquis. Love how this thing wears and its going nowhere. It's officially my most comfortable watch and no matter how I move or shake my arm, the watch will return to a perfectly centered position on my wrist. And as you say, a precise bezel action like a good computer mouse! The presence of the diver's extension doesn't hurt and maybe it's little bit of extra weight helps balancing out the watch so nicely, see above. Love this thing!

      To be honest, Alex, I think I'd like an Aquis in every size variation, and possibly every colour, too. I have to stop myself from selling things to free up cash when I see one for sale at a good price. Maybe at some point I'll go for the 41.5mm with the in-house 5-day movement. Imagine that with the black dial and in titanium... I'm not sure how I feel about the two-tone models they announced this week, though!

    My very first foray into the ‘expensive’ watch hobby was to buy this exact watch in 2019 from my local AD. I chose the Oris because of the history and complete independence of the brand … the back story. I paid £1,365 for it after negotiating hard for a decent discount.
    Since then I have bought three Tudors (BB58, Chrono S&G, and the BB GMT), a TAG F1 and a few others … but, I can honestly say that out of the 16 watches I now own the Oris is the absolute best for the money. It fits well on your wrist and when the light catches the blue dial it looks fabulous.
    In summary; the best all round watch I own by some margin!

    Provided ORIS keeps making good corporate decisions and continues to strengthen its reputation as a quality desirable watch brand, the Oris Aquis, with its original dive design, is a future classic that will increase in value. I regret selling mine and will be buying another one soon.

    I’m a huge fan of the Aquis! I’m generally pretty vintage or retro focused (alternatively you could just say boring 😂) when it comes to my taste in watches so I always thought the Aquis to be too modern, too shiny and too big but then I got one and I totally fell in love!
    I wanted a black dial (like I said, my taste in watches is boring 😂) so that meant choosing between either the 39.5mm or the 43.5mm as bizarrely Oris doesn’t do a black dial in the basic Sellita loaded 41.5mm Aquis. Although I would love to have gone with the Calibre 400 Aquis, it’s out of my price range so that meant I had to go with the big one but similar to a lot of Seiko divers, the Aquis feels way smaller than the on paper dimensions would suggest.
    It sounds a bit of a cliche or overblown to say it’s a modern classic but quietly, under the radar, I think it kind of is! Nothing else really looks like the Aquis and I’d be hard pressed not to include it in any list of sub £2000 diver watches.
    Loving your work as always LP 👏👏👏👏

      Thanks, mate, and that's a great comparison - Seiko watches definitely always seem to be way more wearable than the dimensions would have one believe. I had a King Samurai last year, and, at 45mm, thought would look horrendously oversized. As it turns out, it was just a nice big dive watch that had good, but not overbearing, presence. I'd also like the Calibre 400 - it's Black Bay money... Maybe at some point down the line once more flood into the second-hand market. Even the movement, as sterile as it looks to many, I think looks very cool, and as distinct as the Aquis itself. 👏👏👏

    I purchased the 400 caliber 41.5 diameter on the grey market, I was not sure how it would compete for wrist time with my Omega SMP 300 Chronograph but the Oris is just so much more comfortable on the wrist that I could wear it daily where the Omega is a little overbearing due to its weight, I much prefer the Oris even when I paid more for the Omega. Another thing is Oris really knows how to make colorful dials I got the blue gradient dial but it was a tough decision because the green dial is absolutely a beauty

    Ah, I did the same....had the same Aquis in black, was my only watch at the time & not being able to switch the strap did my head in after 18 months so sold it. Now I've a larger collection I really do miss it - very comfortable, perfect size, accurate, very well made - sod it, gotta get another one!! Thanks 🙄. Good review, agree 100%. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

    I have the day/date version of this watch. The blue is truly mesmerizing, which shows the glorious electric dark blue in the sun, and black in low lights. The sunburst makes certain parts of the dial to be black and blue simultaneously.

    Another well made video! I agree that Oris is a great brand - and I don’t think there’s a bad watch in their entire catalog! My own similar regret was selling my Bulova Lunar Pilot, that I got for a really good price!! That is also definitely a great watch - through my rose-tinted spectacles!! 🤓⌚️👌😆

      Thanks, mate!! I'd love a Big Crown Pointer Date, speaking of other watches in their catalogue... I think I have a watch or two now I'd be willing to sell but I just wonder if I'll feel the same way in a year's time.

    owning the oris, A.) the bezel has a big resistance when trying to rotate it and also B.) is hard to push the clasp's metal buttons to open/close it. Bought it new from authorised dealer, I love the design but i'm not very sure that is worth the price

    I have 7" wrists and own a 39.5 Aquis! lol Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably get a 41.5, but they weren't even announced yet when I bought mine. I'm still very happy! It's beautiful, unique, keeps great time, and disappears on the wrist so much so that I sometimes forget I have it on! What more can you ask?

    I own 41.5 mm green aquis… Been considering selling it (as part of my own watch collecting journey!) for about a month but can’t quite bring myself to do it as every time I wear it I really love it… Glad I’ve seen this video - it’s not going anywhere, I am going to keep it… however now thinking about selling my Ball watch company marvelight engineer… unless you have any thoughts on the matter! 😅

    • @LumePip
      @LumePip  2 года назад

      Well, I've not tried a Ball Watch Company piece, so can't speak for that, but you've definitely made a good decision in not selling the Aquis! And if you ever do want to commit that particular sin, send a message my way haha

      @@LumePip 😂 thanks!! I have the Ball marvelight engineer and really enjoy it, but ultimately I think it will be the one watch I move on from my collection in the next year or so. I have however just got a Tudor Ranger! I know it’s had quite mixed reviews but I’m loving it

    Incidentally the point made about the long watch reference number … the first bit relates to the watch model itself and second bit relates to the bracelet/strap version.

    I love the watch I have the 43.5 but I'm in the smaller side of wrists. I always think of the 41.5 which I never got the change to try. 39 was just too small for my eyes. What do you think.

    • @LumePip

    Hi mate, would you say the 43.5, 41.5 or 39.5 for a just over 6” wrist? 😊 I like a 39 like the bb58 and think that’s perfect but I know these oris will wear smaller due to the lugs so I’m thinking 41.5? Thanks

    • @LumePip
      @LumePip  2 года назад

      I love the BB58 and it wears perfectly on my 6.5 or so inch wrist, but still found the Aquis 39.5mm a bit small over time. I'd give them both a go, mate. The 41.5mm seems to be the one everyone goes for, and Oris have onviously started wheeling out the Calibre 400 in that size now, too, so could even be worth looking at that if an in-house movement is what you're after!
