I've rewatched this scene so many times and always focus on The Coach but this time watched the lady behind him the whole time, her facial reactions are priceless.
Tells you a lot about the coach that after an attempted assault, he just shrugs it off and offers to train the boys. Rather than writing them off as hopeless causes, he wants to reform them and set them on a better path. Even with his current wards, he doesn’t get mad at them directly but rather blames himself for not supervising better. The only time he ever gets mad is when his lads do stuff to endanger their own lives. True gentleman.
That right there was why Coach was my absolute favorite character in the movie. Works hard to keep these kids on the straight and narrow, giving them an outlet in his gym. A real father figure who sees their failures as his own. He was ready to accept any punishment for them.
All the characters were fantastic. I love how Charlie Hunnam character comes across as the reasonable type that does not want trouble until you find otherwise.

Instead of a sequel as the ending suggests, I’d rather The Coach gets his own spin-off. Mickey’s story has ended, and with that so has Raymond’s, Coach however has a bunch of young lads who are budding fighters and have now proved themselves as useful gang members. There’s a story to be fleshed out from that 🤔
Thing is, I think coaches ethos is to keep noses clean as much as possible, I don't think going down that line as a gang would work...unless something unexpected happens like in lock stock with the gambling debt.. Perhaps there could be a prequel of coaches life before this movie. Or I guess maybe a prequel to Mickey and Raymond and that lot, how they got themselves above it all.
I would love a movie with just the coach and his boys man he knocked this role out the park. Funny, witty, respected OG it was phenomenal. One of the best parts of the movie easily
Just like Ritchie’s prior movies… there’s always that one character that just steals the entire show. In “Lock, Stock,” it was Big Chris. In “Snatch” it was Mickey (or arguably Brick Top). In “Rock’n Rolla” it was Handsome Bob… in this movie, it’s EASILY The Coach.
