In this video I'm testing out the Tacoma K&N Air Filter to see if it's better than stock. Many have said that a k&n drop in air filter is one of the best tacoma performance mods. With this upgrade, I mainly wanted to see if the tacoma air filter needed an upgrade. I wanted to see if it'd give my tacoma more horespower or if there's any k&n horsepower gain. I also wanted to see if the k&n air filter bad for my truck as I've heard some stories about it not filtering dirt very well. In the future, I'd love to upgrade the tacoma air intake and maybe do a tacoma k&n cold air intake. This video also hows how to do the tacoma air filter replacement.

Me personally- I have always used them - most of my vehicles were over 150k & I have gotten better fuel mpg w/ them.. as far as issue on sensors- should clean them @ 60k - 75k. I did - also use marvels mystery oil in take every month. K & N has been used in racing - quite a few exotic & European cars use similar filters from factory.

I’ve been using them for years on my 4Runner. I replace them once a year. I don’t bother cleaning them sometimes you can use too much oil and clog up the sensors. Still cheaper than replacing regular filters 2 to 3 times a year when each cost 33 bucks.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t an oil catch can be more prudent on a turbocharged vehicle? I had a BMW 335i, and it needed a catch can due to the design cycling used air into the intake to be burnt again to be “cleaner!” It had a side effect of making the valves dirty and requiring a walnut blast to clean it. The catch can helped tremendously.
