If your fridge breaks down while on holiday in a rented apartment, you report it to the owner and hope to have it replaced... you DO NOT take it upon yourself to take it to the dump without permission.
The McCanns actions are very suspicious and Amaral was 100% correct in his thoughts on this couple.

This case is frustrating. The UK police had no right to take over the investigation. The Mcanns have been protected from any consequences, and that beggars belief as to why. What ever happened to that little girl is ultimately the parents fault who are guilty of child neglect at the very least

The father went to school with British Primer Minister at the time, David Cameron and they are childhood friends, close friends. It was a cover up to protect for the powerfull/ influent people

In my opinion Detective Amaral was one of the few people involved in the investigation who Wasn't corrupt. The man is brilliant. I first learned about him listening to you years ago. His book was online not easy to find and then disappeared. It was riveting. Thanks so much. When he was vindicated by the European Court I celebrated. Please continue with your deep dive - the most comprehensive among the glut of noise and nonsense that has surrounded this tragic case. XxxOoo

I agree, this detective was doing his job and how he got all this crap is fkn absurd. Id want a detective to do their job correctly and I would expect them to be asking me and closest family every imaginable thing , not being defensive or acting insulted or anything, I'd be quizzing everyone around me too, well i believe this is what everyone i ever see comment on this would say the same

It was terrible how the McCanns ripped him to shreds and ruined his career and credibility, yet they're still working in the medical professional! Where is the justice? Why were they never investigated over child neglect and possible illegal practice involving dodgy use of medication on minors?
I have always supported Detective Amaral. My ex-husband was in the police and he said that you develop an instinct about people, and you can get a string feeling that someone is guilty even before you get evidence. My ex said it was very frustrating to be sure that someone was guilty but not have the evidence to arrest them.
Human remains have a very distinct smell that can't be confused with rubbish in a bin bag. It is possible that they stored her in a freezer if there was one big enough to fit her body. The cadaver dogs alerted for the scent of human remains in the car. The McCanbs know what happened to Madelaine. They know she is dead and that they covered it up, but as there is no evidence against them, all they have to do is keep on insisting that she was kidnapped. Whatever happened to her it was entirely their fault anyway. They should never have left their young children alone in the flat while they were out with their friends.
That “ instinct “ and to follow that leads to confirmation bias and is not an objective or professional way to run an investigation. It leads to fitting a suspect to the crime rather than following the evidence .
Not only did neither Kate McCann nor Gerry McCann deny the findings of the cadaver and blood dogs - thereby confirming that cadaver scent and blood were found where it was reported - it was almost laughable how easy it was to see Gerry McCann simultaneously desperately looking up the internet to try to come up with some other plausible explanation for it, hence the shrimp, beef, and dirty nappies (🤮) being in the car long enough to make it smell. In his infamously upbeat blog, Gerry also claimed that his 2-year-old son had suddenly taken a liking to sea-bass, another internet explanation for cadaver scent. In reality, the trained dogs alert to nothing - absolutely nothing - except human cadaver and human blood. They do not alert to sea bass or to grotty nappies.
I also always believed that Madeleine died as Detective Amaral concluded. All other theories have been made up and spread on internet by McCanns and their supporters as well as British authorities. It is not normal, when a child is missing, not to search for your child but to call Prime Minister and comfort yourself in a church while entire village is searching for your child.
Not only are McCanns bad parents, they are also abusers who filled up their children with sleeping pills so they could have fun. But, thanks to their connections to British authorities, they get away with all their lies and unacceptable deeds. They used their own child's tragedy to collect money from goodhearted people and a big amount they spent on things that have nothing to do with finding their child.
Not to mention how intense they have been discrediting Detective Amaral and did everything they could to ruin his life.
Disgusting people.
You're making the huge assumption that the story about the half hour checks is true.
There is precisely zero evidence to support such a claim, outside of the tapas nine themselves.
In fact, it's being increasingly accepted that Maddie most likely died no later than the Monday of the week in question.

What you say is a definite possibility, but not a certainty. A good detective will always be self- monitoring, for signs of confirmation bias.
It's mind boggling that the McCann's were never charged with child neglect at a minimum since they left they're 3 young children unattended for hours why they socialized. But for their actions, Madeleine would still be with us today. May Madeleine rest in peace. 🕊️

When Kate was asked to provide a toothbrush for DNA testing for Madeleine, she informed the Investigators, that the children all used just one brush between them! We find that incredulous that a Doctor especially would encourage their own children (3 of them) to share just one toothbrush. It was then that Gerry returned to the U.K. to pick up a hairbrush of Madeleine. Incredulous.
A doctor should know better! She probably was not even brushing their teeth. Madeline was precious. It has been a case that kept me up at night and really had me thinking about every detail.

This family visited family in a village in Ireland. The village was rife for Paedophilia. I think Gerry has a wandering eye. They did have an argument at the tapas when Gerry asked a beautiful Portuguese woman to join their table. Kate stormed off and slept in the kids room. All is not what it seems.
Maybe their karma is to be stuck in a criminality bond .... That would be hell because Kate seems highly sexualised to me writing things like "her perfect little genitles " in her book. What mother speaks like that of her three year old daughter.

I am not sure but have a feeling that 'they' couldnt find any DNA of Madeleine anywhere except what smells the Cavador dogs alerted to. If like us we have dogs & seems you have a link to Huskys? Cavadors are never wrong....if there was no DNA belonging to Madeleine, then she hadnt been there? Why any parent would leave their children alone and unattended in a hotel room ( in a foreign country) while they left to have dinner at the hotel restaurant is beyond fathom . Who does that ????
and repeatedly - even after Maddie told them on one occasion that she had woken up the previous night calling for her parents and getting no response, and the twins were crying. Obviously they created this story to set up the scenario that something (the abductor?) had woken the children up. So by their own admission they continued to leave 3 babies alone at night even after Maddie had told them that she had woken up and clearly gone looking for them and was obviously disturbed.
It seems more people than we would think. Every day stories appear highlighting stupid parents who let their little kids do all sorts of things alone, away from them. Just saw a story of a pervert guy in the mall who "took an 11 yr old girl into the bathroom and molested her". He is in jail with no bond. But how he did that, managed to take an 11 yr old? Oh..the "mother" dropped her off to spend the DAY at the mall. WTF? Instant free babysitter? Who does this in todays world?

Beyond the claims made by the McCanns and the tapas group (and possibly Catriona Baker and Charlotte Pennington) we have no evidence that Maddie and the twins were left alone at any point during the holiday.
This aspect of the story is better understood as a fake pretext, in which a window of opportunity for the alleged abduction was created.

I think there was a free babysitting service there which h they wouldn't use.
Persnally, it seems to me that they were drugging/medicating the kids to make sure they don't wake up while they are out there having fun. As such they wouldn't need a babysitter. Don't forget they are both doctors. Who on earth woul leave three little kids at home and go out for dinner and drinks? Most people could not even enjoy the food, going crazy about what if they wake up, etc. Whatever happened these two are AWFUL parents.

They couldn’t fix it so they put a new one in.
The last thing I would want to do is find out where the local tip is , take a fridge that didn’t belong to me, and buy a new one( that makes no sense )

Agree. Kate and Gerry McCann have never been able to exclude themselves as suspects and the evidence points to them.
After Madeline’s disappearance, Gerry and Kate started attending a church in prai de luz! The priest gave them a key to the church so that they could go to pray there anytime they liked. The church has a cremation furnace. And one night in the small hours, some locals reported smoke coming from the chimney. I think gerry retrieved madeleine from wherever he had hidden her and cremated her at the church. And that would explain why the dogs detected cadaver in the boot of their hire car which they hired several days after her alleged disappearance. Also neighbours of the house they rented reported that they left their car hatchback open all night one night. That was probably an attempt to allow the odour of cadaver to disperse. However, the cadaver dogs still alerted to the inside of the car boot. But by this time madeline’s body no longer existed.
What are your sources, please, as all this is very interesting.
I remember reading about the church when it first happened. I found myself riveted by this case from the beginning. I believe the local catholic church has something to do with it.

The decision they made to leave 3 very young children alone was so BAD. It puts no limit on how bad their continued decision making was. This whole case truly gives me nausea. What I found most interesting was Kate's past occupation. Prior to her being a gp she was a hospital anaesthetist......look into that what you will, but for me I feel like I know exactly what happened to poor maddie. Sedating children at home is different than sedating them abroad, food intake is different, being exposed to heat and sunburn, dehydration plays a huge part, whatever worked for them in the UK, had a much different outcome when abroad.

No matter what tragedy befell poor little Madeleine, I will always be baffled as to how selfish of a parent you have to be to leave your babies alone in a hotel room in a foreign country, unattended, to go to the bar/restaurant? Especially since there were babysitting services available - too cheap to look after your babies' well-being?? It makes no difference if they could "see" the room or not. It's still one of the most irresponsible things I have ever heard of. They may or may not be guilty (this is one case where I bounce back and forth), but they are definitely responsible.
That is only if you believe their story. I mean the part about leaving the children etc.
Personally, I don't believe a word of it.
Simply because, NOBODY does it. You only have to read a few comments dating back 16 years to know that nobody does it.

If you watch Sonia Poultons films on this case and also Richard D Halls you might come to realise that no child was left alone and also that Maddie died earlier on the holiday as there's no definite proof that she was alive in the days prior to her "disappearing".
Too right! Too cheap to pay for some essential childcare but happy to spend millions on PR for themselves….oh and a fridge/freezer they really didn’t need to buy. I find the money they make off the back of Madeleine offensive.
The key is 1 when was Maddies physically last seen by anybody on this holiday? 2 some one who’s daughter has gone missing on or about the same time decided to take a fridge from their rented apartment to the dump in their car and purchase a replacement , am I the only one who thinks that a little suspicious clearly Scotland Yard don’t but they have been told to look for the kidnapper not to investigate the disappearance of this little girl.

Let's look at it a bit more closely.
They arrive in P de L for a one week holiday on
Saturday. They go shopping at the local SPA.
Put mince in the fridge.
Mince is still there, unused on Sunday.
Maybe on Monday, he detects the mince is off, and the fridge is faulty, and takes it upon himself to
1:- Remove it.
2:- Locate the local dump.
3:- Recruit somebody who has transport (a man with a van).
3:- The 2 men then lift the fridge and carry it to the van and transport it to the dump.
4:- They go to a local appliance centre and buy a new fridge, which the store conveniently has in stock.
5:- The 2 men transport the new fridge to 5a and carry it up to the appartment, and install it.
Let's say this happened on Tuesday.
So the whole fridge thing took up approximately half the holiday.
I wonder how he found time to play tennis and golf.
And who was the man with a van?
All very plausible? Yeah! Right!!!!
It's frustrating that the Portuguese police (who would have also seen the blog post about the refrigerator) did not follow up (as far as I'm aware) by visiting the local dump(s) and examining any dumped refrigerators!
Apparently Amaral said that lead was never fully investigated because he was removed from the case after he criticised the involvement of British police.

Jerry mentioned the fridge in his online blog. It apparently appeared but was immediately deleted/removed. It was removed so swiftly that only a handful of people claimed to have viewed it but also so swiftly that no one managed to get a screen shot.

Excellent! This focuses on a really salient question, namely, why the dogs alerted to the car boot. Interesting that the other similar case involved use of a refrigerator to store the body. The McCanns came up with some absurd explanations for why they’d been leaving the boot open (“nappies”; “blood from meat”; “fish” etc). Kate McCann described baby Madeleine as “compact” which is an odd adjective to use about your baby, and could be “leakage” of her memory of squashing the body together to fit it in the freezer.

The immediate thought of any parents of a real kidnapping would think "OMG! They killed her! She was dead before they took her away!" Not "Yeah we had some meat stored in the car that must've gone bad?"

I’ve never understood why the McCanns aren’t pressed more about this. Both of them concede that cadaver and/ or blood were found where officials said they were found, and, instead of denying this, Kate and Gerry come up with what they believe are plausible alternatives. Kate’s story (attending 6 corpses - with ‘cuddle cat’ - before the holiday) sounds like nonsense and is, and Gerry’s story - shrimp, beef, sea bass, dirty nappies - is easily disproved because dogs do not alert to any of those things, in spite of what Gerry’s desperate and quick internet search suggested.

This is what got me too. I know if it was me, I wouldnt be able to think straight, let alone have the presence of mind to think 'lets go for a run, lets get our jogging gear on and go for a run'. I would be by the phone. I would be staying put for news. But they went for a run because they knew there would be no phone call, and no news.

In UK English there is a clear distinction between a 'fridge' (a refrigerator), designed to keep things like milk and butter cool, and a 'freezer' which is designed to preserve things long term by freezing them solid.

His post was seen by millions worldwide but he later deleted it. There must be some evidence of this post out there somewhere though?
Yes, it's part of the popular mythology surrounding this case, and it may be true. The trouble is you can't say something like that in court. Millions of people saw it, but uh...well, that's it.
Also, writing a blog post about a refrigerator doesn't mean there is any evidence of Madeleine in it, it means you have evidence of a blog post about a refrigerator.
In the next episode we'll look at the sort of scientific evidence that's needed to prove the existence - and relevance - of a refrigerator in this story, and it's not a blog post.

Can you imagine these two doctors giving advice to other parents..."Take a vacation in another country. When your children go to "sleep", go out for dinner and drinks. Put yourself first, it's "only children", they'll be fine."
It's a great pity that so many people commenting here appear to have accepted at face value the story about the tapas nine leaving their children unattended, with members of the group volunteering to check each relevant apartment, roughly every half hour.
Remember, outside the group of friends, there is no independent evidence that any of those checks took place.
It is far better to understand these claims as a necessary pretext for the creation of a plausible window of opportunity, during which the alleged abduction could take place.

Occam's razor isn't a universal or infallible rule, but in the case of speculations about whether Maddie was swapped with Murat's daughter, I think it applies correctly.
And the two dogs you refer to were only trained to detect human cadaver odour and human blood, not any specific individual from whom the blood may have originated.

Very interesting video thank you. I knew about Gerry replacing a fridge in the apartment out of his own pocket, and even disposed of the old fridge himself in one of the big bins with lids on in the area. Quite a few channels mentioned it sometime ago, and also that there is a possibility that Madeline died not long after they arrived in Portugal.

Sorry, how did MM die? We treated our epileptic daughter with diazepam in the event of a seizure. Eventually had to move to another rescue med because diazepam was stopping her breathing! Important - diazepam is a prescribed drug. Two doctors could easily get hold of it to sedate their kids so they could go on the vino. Diazepam doses are determined by body weight. Tragically they overdosed MM and she died. They gave smaller doses to their young twins "who slept right through" when the police turned up at the apartment.
Sedative meds may have played a part but I think a more violent event may have taken place to cause blood loss.

A thought struck me that after my initial suspicion that "They've taken her!" by Kate meaning the paedophiles had taken Madeleine, it may rather have been a case of Kate keeping the deceased Madeleine in the apartment and not willing or able to let her go and so the cry, "They've taken her!" may have been in response to taking her to dispose of the body, which she knew was eventually inevitable!

Nick, during the course of this case, a South African by the name of Stephen Birch used his own ground radar to search for Madeleine. He discovered an object about the size of a small child under the second driveway built at the back of Mrs. Murat's propert, that had been previously searched by Portugese Police, who were unlikely to have used ground radar equipment. Stephen Birch's life was threatened after he went to the authorities with his findings, it could have been UK Police, I am not sure. But, he asked for further investigation of his findings. Obviously, someone did not want that to happen. Please could you elaborate and/or investigate this? Thank you, your I find your work quite fascinating and always very thorough.

Sir Clement Freud, the former broadcaster and British politician, was exposed Tuesday night as a pedophile who sexually abused girls as young as 10 for decades.
Freud, who died in 2009, spent years abusing a girl whom he brought up as a daughter, and violently raped a teenager while he was an MP.
His widow, Lady Freud, has apologized to his victims, saying she is “shocked, deeply saddened and profoundly sorry” for what her husband of 58 years did to them.
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have been alerted to the fact that Freud had a villa in Praia da Luz, Portugal, the resort where the three-year-old went missing in 2007. He befriended the McCanns in the weeks after their daughter disappeared, entertaining them at his house on two occasions and keeping in contact by phone and email.
The McCanns are said to be “horrified” by the discovery that Freud was a pedophile. His family, who include the PR executive Matthew Freud, have said that Freud was not in Portugal at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance and that they have not been contacted by police.
However, officers from Operation Grange, the ongoing Metropolitan Police investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance, are expected to assess the new information before deciding if it may be relevant to the inquiry.
Freud was unmasked as a child sex abuser after one of his victims contacted ITV’s Exposure documentary team, who also broke the story of Jimmy Savile’s pedophilia four years ago. Sylvia Woosley said Freud befriended her family in 1948, when he was working at a hotel in the South of France, and started abusing her when she was 10. Four years later, following a family crisis, her mother asked Freud and his wife Jill if they would look after Woosley, and she found herself living under the same roof as her abuser, being brought up as a daughter.
The abuse continued until she managed to move away when she was 19.
Another woman told ITV that Freud started abusing her in the 1970s, when she was 11, and eventually raped her when she was 18, by which time he was a Liberal MP sharing an office with Cyril Smith, who was also unmasked as a pedophile after his death.
Both women’s accounts have been passed on to the Metropolitan Police.
Lady Freud said: “This is a very sad day for me. I was married to Clement for 58 years and loved him dearly. I am shocked, deeply saddened and profoundly sorry for what has happened to these women. I sincerely hope they will now have some peace.”
Freud, who was knighted in 1987, was best known as a popular panellist on the Radio 4 show Just a Minute from 1967 until his death in 2009.
The grandson of the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and the brother of the painter Lucian Freud, he worked his way into the heart of British society, the then prime minister Gordon Brown attending his funeral.
A spokesman for the McCann family said they had not until now been aware of Freud’s child abuse and were not aware that he had ever been investigated by Operation Grange.
The Metropolitan Police did not respond to questions about Operation Grange, but former murder squad detective Colin Sutton said: “If this is something that investigators had not been aware of then it would be certainly a potential line of inquiry that would be worth pursuing.

I'm torn between two different theories. Either she died very early on their stay, say the second day. And they spent the rest of the week covering it all up. Remember, the alleged abduction happened on the last night before their departure the day after.

She died the last night, sometimes between they brought her home from the creche in the afternoon and before they went to dinner at the Tapas at eight thirty, giving them a couple of hours at the most to come up with something. The problem here is the narrator of this video has it slightly off. The fridge / freezer in question, was the one replaced in the condo they rented (which was later confirmed by the owner of the condo). Not the apartment where she died. It is clear they had help, and were mostly likely a day ahead of given timings. She was moved from that apartment long before the supposed night she went ‘missing’. The cadaver dog alluded to her perhaps first being stored in the wardrobe. Richard D Hall is a good place to start for any who have an open mind and are curious to know what may have actually happened. Peter Hyatt, another great interview too. Whether they intentionally meant to kill her or not, they covered it up to save their reputations, medical licenses, and jail time, and they had help from some high ranking Brits. Reading the police files from start to finish will show this.

In regards to the dogs used, they were cadaver dogs. They tried to say just because they were alerting didn't indicated that they were necessarily alerting to human decomp scent. They could have been alerting to something else such as a dead animal, human dna, saliva, etc. They are wrong. Dogs are trained to a specific task. These dogs will not alert on other things close to what they were trained to detect. They will only alert to human decomp. So their alerts should have been taken more seriously.

They were both medics, they knew the most important thing was to refrigerate the body whilst they formulated a plan. Without this they would have to have disposed of the body without any delay which I imagine Kate could not bear to do.

Most people are unaware of how cadaver dogs are trained, they bury some real human bodies really deep underground maybe ten feet deep then on top of it they'll pile a mixture of rotting flesh of all varieties, none of it human. After that they'll reward the dogs who identify human body parts ignoring the foul non-human flesh. This is repeated over and over until they find the dogs who go straight to the human body parts.. This process indicates which dog is best at finding human bodies.
It seems obvious that the cadaver was kept cold from 3rd May to 27th May the latter being the date they hired that renault scenic. IMO the body was inside the crypt of the RC church down at the beach. Possibly frozen or cooled.

Washing the toy Madeleine held was a very odd thing for a mother to do. A mom would hold onto and try to keep the smell of her child even if you can't, just to feel connected to her. I used to feel sorry for the parents. I knew if my child was missing I would act odd too. There is a difference between acting odd because you are out of your mind with fear and worry, and acting odd because you are covering up a crime. I would not care if I looked guilty if my child was missing. I would answer questions and do anything to get her back. I know I would not care about protecting my reputation, career or any way I seemed, because without your child none of those things would matter.
It is absolutely Insane that the UK got involved and took over this case in another country that fast.

I just wanted to point out something SPECIFIC about the dogs.
Firstly, they've worked 200+ cases with a 100% accuracy rate.
They have never marked a false positive.
One tiny dot of the blood found was placed on a piece of cloth and went through 3 full laundry cycles. The piece of cloth along with identical pieces were placed around and Keela identified not only the right cloth, but put her snout on the exact place on the cloth the micro dot of blood has been placed.
The scent on the hire keys was sniffed out. They then took the keys to a different area, put them in the bottom of a fire bucket buried with sand, and were led straight to that bucket in the middle of a car park!
Let's wrap up once and for all, any "doubt" that Gerry likes to hint at about the reliability of dog's evidence. Fair enough they cannot speak, but their handler knew them inside out! Their handler btw, is the one the FBI recruited to TEACH THEM how to train dogs in America! Hardly some hack who doesn't know what he's doing!!!

Eddie is a cadaver dog. No he was not trained with animal carcasses, he was trained with human corpses only. Eddie would therefore alert to the smell of human death AND blood.
Keela is a CSI dog. She is trained to alert to blood only. It could be blood dripping from the wound of an injured person or the blood pouring out of the stabbed body of a dead victim. She smells just blood, human blood, alive or dead, JUST blood.
Now it would be easy to guess if you're not a dog handler, to wonder what is the point of taking Keela if Eddie can do it all? It is essential that Keela can ONLY alert to blood.
Eddie is taken in first, he alerts to (let's just say) A, B, C, D and E. Ok? He alerts to five things (in this example!!!)
Eddie is removed and keela is taken in, she alerts to A, B, and D. Ok? She alerts to three things.
What does this tell us? That Keela's sense of smell is not as good as Eddie's??? NO! Keela has found blood 36 years after a crime, there's nowt wrong with her shnozzle!
Eddie can smell death and blood in five places. But he can't tell us WHICH ONE he smelt in each location. Was it death...??? or blood...??? or both...??? in each of A, B, C, D, or E
All five had either or both for sure.
Keela who can only smell blood, only alerted to 3 of the same locations Eddie did. She missed two... because she can't smell death!
That means that TWO of Eddie's alerts, picked up for certain on DEATH!!! Keela is the one who helps us understand what Eddie can't say!
Now the McCanns have gone over and above trashing the validity of dog's accuracy, saying they are trained with pig cadavers, and yes many are, but Eddie and Keela weren't! They know their human from pig! They have pointed out cases were dogs have failed or wrongly alerted. Of course that's true, maybe those particular dogs weren't trained properly or ready for work? Who knows? But Eddie and Keela had never failed!
Just to be clear, the places the dogs alerted to is more in depth than that ^^^, mine was purely an example with using the five letters.
Lastly, blood found in hire car. Remember for us to know it's definitely blood, both dogs must alert in the same location right? If only Eddie does, that's where a corpse was. If Keela ignores it there's no blood there. Both dogs alerted to the car boot.....meaning blood is DEFINITELY there! We don't know if a dead body was there too, because Eddie can't specify, he may only have smelt blood there, same as Keela. We only know its a corpse for certain when Eddie alerts and Keela doesn't.
For Keela to smell the blood it must be fresh. It must have come from a live injury or from a very very recently dead body. Once the chemicals kick in to start decomposing the body, the corpse's blood now smells of the death process, not blood.
Goncalo KNOWS Maddie was moved in the car almost four weeks later. He KNOWS she was frozen. HOW? Because both dogs alerted to blood. But if Maddie had been dead all that time then her blood would no longer smell like blood to Keela, that's what i just said right?
TRUE! And it's that very FACT that Keela smelt fresh blood, despite how long Maddie had been dead,
IS WHAT PROVES SHE WAS FROZEN!!! Her death decaying process was halted by being put in the freezer. Her blood didn't have a chance to coagulate and fill with the scent of death. When she was transported, just the teeniest dot of water thawing off her body meant any blood would still be fresh blood.
So if both dogs alerted to fresh blood 26 days after the "abduction" 🙄
She MUST have been frozen.

"fresh" blood does not mean wet or dry....it means coming from a body with the heart still pumping or bleeding out directly after death. I believe, since both parents are doctors, they each had sedated the child without the other knowing; furthermore, that the husband has not told this to the mother so the mother takes the guilt. She punished herself by no longer practicing as a doctor. I read that there was a small fridge in the hotel which was replaced around the time.

@susansilvey1614 I wondered the same thing. What if one parent had already 'adminstered' a sedative of some kind, but not told the other? That way, you could quite easily overdose a small child accidentally. I can see how that could have happened ( not justifying it), but since they claiimed all 3 children shared a toothbrush, & her body has never been found, who knows what really happened?

They are both highly educated people working in an area that comes with safeguarding responsibilities - medicine.
I simply cannot imagine a family from Bootle who worked as a carer/builder who left their toddlers sleeping in an apartment in a foreign country while they went out for the night would not have had their remaining children removed from their care immediately & possibly adopted. I have seen many times when exactly this has happened - children removed because they have been left alone while the parent/s went out for the night. Usually the parent is arrested & charged with neglect & often they are jailed.
That’s without even going into whether or not they actually harmed her themselves.

Regarding the freezer I have read that a villa may have been rented and Maddies body may have been placed in the freezer. The villa is close to the Smith sighting. The villa is owned by a Portuguese paediatrician and his work has a connection with the Government

The Portuguese police brought in sniffer dogs the day after Maddie disappeared. One of them tracked the scent to the car park opposite the Tapas Bar and then to the entrance. This is detailed in the police report. This means the body could have been left there and moved later or picked up by someone in a car such as the Irishman who called the priest for Kate or even the priest or someone else they knew such as friends of Maddie's godfather who often stayed in Luz. These acquaintances were not investigated since Amaral was taken off the case but he claimed there was evidence of Gerry entering an apartment near the beach in the area the Irish family claim to have seen him heading with Maddie. After death enzymes change the body tissues and this is reflected in the composition of body fluids but if the body id frozen the processes do not go to completion - compare the blood from a frozen steak with that from a steak left in the fridge or on the table top

They inveigled the local priest to give them the keys to the church. Catholic funerals leave the coffin at the Alter overnight and ahead of the funeral. I believe they hid her body in a coffin which was due to be interred the next day. I reckon there would be no more than 1 or 2 funerals in that three week period and they will easily be able to be identified. Tragically these two were happy to destroy the lives of the police inspector and the priest (who we know left soon afterwards). Luckily, the elderly mother at the Tapas 9 soiree will hopefully not allow herself to die with this on her mind. Tick tock, tick tock.

Little Portugese churches do not have freezers for storing bodies! In a traditional Catholic funeral, the coffin would be brought into the church the evening before and lay by the altar ready for a funeral mass the next day. Btw, neither would a church have a crematorium. That would be a completely separate place, and run by the council. Europeans don't have USA type funeral homes where churches, body storage and cremations are all together in one business.
