    Good morning everybody! Yes, this is an early morning upload but the embargo has finally lifted on the 2020 Versa we filmed last week. This is a car that has been completely reborn and while the previous generation was kind of a car you'd be embarrassed to be seen in, this NEW one is basically an Altima that shrunk in the dryer. While its no speed demon when you put your foot down, the exterior design, interior tech, impressive fuel economy, and strong value make the new 2020 Versa a really enticing pick if you're looking for a brand new car for under $20,000. No RPM rating on this video but once Nissan loans us one in DC, we will do another video with an RPM rating. Nissan says some of the Versa customers choose a Kicks last year which begs the question... Would you rather buy this or a 2019 Nissan Kicks?

      I’d for sure buy a Versa over a Kicks simply because “Kicks” is one of the dumbest names of all time for a car. Telling people that I drive a Nissan Kicks would be downright embarrassing.

    In my mind, this car, this type of car, is exactly where I most want to hear a review of how well the climate control system functions.
    We already know we are not going to have an enthusiastic drive. So I want to know am I at least going to be comfortable during the drive.
    Does the system adequately cool the car?
    Does the system seem to struggle?
    Is the fan so loud that it becomes annoying?
    And I know that you would cover these issues in a way that we could really understand and appreciate.

      saviorx e60 I like the look or the Mirage GT and Mirage G4 SE too myself. I personally like the engine in the Mirages I know its low on power but its very basic and simple and easy to maintain and work on. I loved my 2015 Mirage ES CVT and I love my 2017 Mirage G4 SE CVT. Good little cars with amazing MPG and tons a standard features.
      I took a trip from Cumberland MD to Hagerstown MD last week with 3 people in the car and I averaged 49 MPG going down and 47 MPG coming back and this includes the large mountain climbs each like sidling hill. I maintained a stead 70 MPG while going up sidling hill no problem. I admit the Mirage is a little sluggish with the CVT but I dont even notice it anymore and it has never caused me any issues. Now a turbo 3 cylinder would be cool which the next Mirage is rumored to have the 0.9L 3 cylinder turbo we shall see but would have more horsepower and torque!

      Jess Barnett Thanks Jess! Unfortunately, most vehicles in this segment still use drum brakes in the rear. They are less expensive obviously but these cars are lighter so the brakes will still stop the car when you press the pedal. You’ll just notice that it requires a bit more force to make them slow the car down and drum brakes are also more prone to fade quicker since they aren’t good with heat dissipation.

      I actually enjoy the CVT. How long are those supposed to last anyway? I'm at ~180k miles on my 2011 Sentra without any issues. My 2008 Acura TL's transmission died in NM on a windy day at sadly ~120k miles. I drive very grandpa style (why I enjoy CVT) and follow the maintenance schedule near perfectly, perhaps the owners having issues don't drive as carefully. Not excusing Nissan, folk are having issues and I wouldn't expect everyone to drive as I do, specially with the "sporty" style they've been dishing out over the years. They should do something beyond the warranty extensions for older models- (which I took as self admitted design failure.)

    • @grseeya
      @grseeya 5 лет назад +1

      @@Blissiel CVTs from Nissan is a complete hit or miss. My 2015 Altima's transmission gave out at 46k miles, repaired under warranty. Toyota uses CVTs but the craftsmanship is much better than Nissan's. Some Nissans last 100k+ miles and some not even 20k miles, really just a CVT lottery.
      In earlier models from 2010 (I think) or below have extended warranties for 10 years/100k miles whichever comes first.

      @@1958Cadillac-v2g ok Mr Franklin. Chee I have to remember the whole thread, been awhile. First off. I mentioned one car that happened to be a Honda and very reliable car. I never said anything about Toyota or other Honda vehicles. Second. In Honda's defence. Honda is not dumpling gas. Every car has oil dilution it just a case of more than excessive gas was or is mixing with oil in cold weather regions. It's apparent the fix was solved by a soft ware up date. You really think Honda would continue to sell thousands of vehicles with this issue? And continue to outsell. Lastly great you had zero issues. Toyota has had minimal tranny issues. Corolla at start of the new Gen was corrected. If I was betting man you personally are against the odds. Hyundai has had major severe recalls that are so bad, cars blew up. Recall after recall twice the other two you mentioned. You are comparing a rickety old Spectra plain as day with technically advanced car that of course will have more glitches. They all do. Lastly, I can re sell them two fold with less depreciation. Count your blessings but to each is own. A fit will out last an accent easily. Do the research for longevity. You want to go there with other cars, sell a Sante fe against a Rav over 5 years. See what you get between both. I await your rebuttle. Lol dumping gas. Good one.

    I absolutely LOVE my Versas!!!! I've owned 4 Versas, including a current 2007 6-speed manual transmission (6MT) with INTELLIGENT (proximity) KEY. Nissan was way ahead of the game, offering the Intelligent Key in many models back then, including its entry-level, sub-$15K Versa! Most luxury brands (Acura, Audi, Mercedes, Lincoln, Cadillac, etc.) DID NOT even offer this technology at the time, even in their most expensive models. They took many years to catch up. The Fit, Yaris, Corolla, Accent, Rio, etc. took over 6-7 years to even offer Intelligent/Smart/proximity key technology -- if even available, as some still don't even offer it in 2019! My Versas (with their MR18DE and HR16DE engines) have been DURABLE, ULTRA RELIABLE, SUPER SPACIOUS and have EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE seats. Beyond routine recommended maintainence (engine oil changes every 3-6K miles, transmission fluid exchanges every 40-60K miles, ignition coils every 100-120K miles, A/C system servicing), I've NEVER had ANY major problems with my Versas. They have NEVER left me stranded or inconvenienced me. The Versa's top IIHS safety ratings (in 2006 and thereafter) and best/least cost-of-ownership rankings have easily proven themselves true with my experience over the past 13 years. A month ago, a careless driver darted in front of me to make a right turn from the left-turn lane on a 4-lane boulevard. I hardly felt a thing at the moment of impact. The designed impact absorption was amazing. I did not experience any physical pain or discomfort at the time or thereafter. My 2008 (other) Versa dutifully did its job protecting me. In the end, it was sadly declared a total loss. I'm not so sure the Versa's contemporary competitors (Yaris, Fit, Accent, Scion) would've protected me as well. I will miss the gobs of headroom in my older Versas, but this all-new Versa looks so much more upscale. When compared to the current batch of mid-size sedans with their lowered roofs/window cowls and diminished headroom (Accord, Camry, Altima, etc.), the older Versas excel. Regardless, I love the new Versa's new "little brother to Maxima/Altima" DNA/design language! It rocks! The attention to detail is also amazing for its' class! I love the stylish and dedicated floating roof black plastic trim piece on the C-pillar (also found on the Altima, Maxima, etc.). Nissan spent the engineering money to design and manufacture it, rather than going the cost-cutting (read: cheaper) route of using only different paint colors to delineate its floating roof, such as found on the $34-36K+ Camry XSE 4/6-cylinder. Job well-done Nissan! Long live the Versa/Tiida/Almera!!
